Those watching President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday evening might have noticed some Congress members and guests wearing ribbons on their lapels.

The green ribbons were worn in honor of the victims of gun violence. ABC News reported that the ribbons were an effort put together by Rep. James Langevin (D-RI), who was himself in an accidental shooting victim. Lauren Fox with U.S. World News noted that the green and silver used on the ribbons represent the colors of Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., where 20 children and six staff members were killed in December. A comment on the Wall Street Journal live blog said the ribbons were provided by the Newtown Action Alliance, a newly formed group focusing on gun violence prevention.

Noticeably, Vice President Joe Biden was wearing one such ribbon, while Speaker of the House John Boehner wasn’t.

At least 40 victims or family members of victims attended the speech, according to ABC.
If you see some wearing orange pins with the text “Stop Fighting, Start Fixing,” 40 or so Congress members who are part of the bipartisan group No labels are also wearing those, according to ABC.

One deranged man in Alabama consumed local, state, and federal law enforcement for several days.
One man (Dorner) put SoCal and surrounding territory on alert and consumed an enormous amount of local law enforcement professionals for several days.
If there was even a small number of concurrent uprisings – let’s say 100 – throughout the United States the government would come to a screeching halt.
Mess with the US Constitution and Patriots will respond accordingly. Those wearing progressive colors and ribbons…
Overseas, insurgents used simple and complex small arms attacks to great effect. Hit and run – not stand and fight (unless trapped). Pick off the vulnerable and shut down the convoys by choosing the time and place. Shut down logistics to the cities.
Public services/utilities and communications nodes would likely become targets. The destruction would make Hurrican Sandy look like child’s play. Nothing destroys like a civil war. Storms pass through but civil war taints the landscape on all levels.
Martial law will only bring more resistance as everyone would get pinched, which will create more insurgents. More bleeding will bring more hate and create greater incentive to throw off the oppressor.
The government is incapable of protecting fixed sites, stations, equipment while they also try to protect their families especially once it becomes known that our public servants are targeting their fellow

How many of these were due to gang violence? On a different note…NBC reported that they had an update on the “gun violence” coming from the Cali standoff (the LAPD officer that went “off the reservation”). Now why does it have to be “gun violence”??? Why couldn’t they report “coming up, we have an update on the unstable ex-LAPD officer that murdered 3 other officers and 2 civilians”. Note; that’s me being nice / “politically correct”.

I see McCain had one but, for a change, Boehner grew a pair and did not. God,…I wish we had patriots in the Congress. Obama would already have been impeached and the 2nd amendment would not be in jeapordy.

I’m guessing his devotion to a shadow government, his exceptional talent at sleight of hand (you know, like “I’ve got this deficit thing under control! Wink!), or, could it simply be that our Emperor’s clothes really are just that “sheer”? Since I couldn’t watch the SOTU because of the Dog Show, I will hope to hear from you good folks what that non-existent ribbon tribute was all about. Weird that he does not care about victims of gun violence though.
