Find Out Why People Are Saying This Teenager Gave the Greatest ‘Jeopardy!’ Answer Ever
Teenager Leonard Cooper emerged victorious in the “Jeopardy! Teen Tournament” finals this week, and his final answer to the “final Jeopardy” question has made him somewhat of an Internet sensation.
After an extremely entertaining performance, including boldly betting all of his winnings on a Daily Double question, Cooper goes into the last question very confident about his chances of winning. He was so confident, in fact, he phoned in his brazen answer to the final “Military Men” category.
The clue: “On June 6, 1944, he said, ‘The eyes of the world are upon you.’”
Cooper’s answer: “Who is…some guy in Normandy. But I just won $75,000!”
While the tournament offers lump sum awards to contestants, Cooper’s plan was not foolproof. Should contestant “Nilai” have wagered all his money and gotten the answer right, Cooper would have probably looked like an idiot.
But it certainly worked out for him. Watch the clip below:

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 2:26pmThe sad thing is that Obama was cheering him on because Obama is going to get mo’ money to hand out to his low-info voters. Here’s what’s going to happen to this poor kid. If he is claimed as a dependent upon his parents tax return he’s going to give up a third of that $75,000 in taxes. Depending upon his parents income and I have to believe based on his overall intelligence and demeanor on the show that his parents are at least middle income probably upper middle income, their taxes are going to go up as a result of the additional $75,000 income they’re going to have to declare. So the real “winner” in this is the federal government as they will move to confiscate a larger chunk of this family’s earnings to redistribute to someone else. Our country’s taxation policy is immoral.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 1:39pmThis answer is wrong. Ike’s address was given in England, and then given while in the English Channel, not “in normandy.”

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 12:43pm@ Old White Guy. He is a very bright kid but his basic math skills failed him in this instance. Nilai had about $14,000 going into Final Jeopardy. He could have doubled that and ended up with around $28000 for the day. Adding his previous day’s total of $19,000, Nilai could have ended up with around $47,000 which would have beaten Leonard;s $40,000. And had that happened he would have looked stupid.
Who cares about his race or his afro? He’s a very smart kid.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 6:02pmI don’t think he would have looked stupid. He didn’t risk anything to compete, so he’s not at a loss any way you look at it. He had just the right laid-back attitude, it’s only money that wasn’t his in the first place. Win it, that’s great — don’t win, well it was fun anyway. It isn’t like someone is taking away his hard earnings.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 10:02amWhat a terrific kid!! Smart and funny! I watched the Teen Tournament and enjoyed all the contestants, but I have to say that I was pulling for Leonard. He’s gonna go far in life. But then, I expect all of them will find success in their lives.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 9:57am“Who is Dwight D. Eisenhower.”
Seriously, how did he NOT now the answer. I can practically recite the message he gave on June 6, 1944. I learned this in high school, for God’s sake! IN CANADA!
Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world. (and so on, since I don’t think I have the characters to post it all. )

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 9:34amYes, I watched the show, and was disappointed that he was ignorant regarding Eisenhower. He’s a clever, intelligent, knowledge-crammed kid, and won by rolling the dice at the right time on a Daily Double. Having said all of that, he was bit of a smart-a$$, and that diminishes my respect for him.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 8:31amThere are some very smart black people…unfortunately per capita their race is sorely lacking hence the stereotype. I went to school with a black guy who is now a professor at Harvard and loves Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell and was probably one of the 5% that didn’t vote for Obama. He is remarkable in his humble take on America and what makes it work.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 8:13amChill, home boy. It’s a cool story because of the way he answered. The kid won because he had the most money, because he answered the questions he had to.
Though, I do agree with your political correctness rant.
I don’t kiss anyone’s ass, black or white, except my wife’s, but that’s personal.
