Former Special Ops Members Unveil New Details in Benghazi Book, Including Secret Missions by Brennan That Might Have Prompted the Attack

As the details about the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, continue to emerge, a new ebook claims to unveil what it says are the “both uncomfortable and unsatisfying” facts surrounding the events leading up to, during and after the attack.

Some have already said the details included in ”Benghazi: The Definitive Report,” which was released Tuesday by authors Jack Murphy, a former Army Ranger and member of the 5th Special Forces Group, and Brandon Webb, a former Navy SEAL, are “shocking but hard to prove.” Webb is the editor-in-chief of SOFREP.com (the Special Operations Forces Report) and Murphy is a contributor of the website.

Still, Murphy and Webb state in the prologue that they consulted dozens of experts, former Special Operations personnel and others with inside information regarding the state of Libya and the attacks. The book claims that it is “likely to be the definitive account of the Benghazi attack for years to come until historians can sift through the archives, get documents declassified and interview all of the participants.”

Among many of the claims in the book, is that John Brennan, President Barack Obama’s current nominee to direct the CIA, was conducting secret operations against Al Qaeda in Libya that included raids, which might have spurred the September 2012 attack.

“With [Joint Special Operations Command], Brennan waged his own unilateral operations in North Africa outside of the traditional command structure. These Direct Action (DA) operations [...] were ‘off the books’ in the sense they were not coordinated through the Pentagon or other governmental agencies, including the CIA,” the book states.

The book says that Libya was a “ticking time bomb” and special operations within the country were “disturbing the local hornets nest of terrorists.” Without the CIA being privy to some of this knowledge, it was left unprepared for the attacks that ensued.

The book also goes into some detail about the affair between General David Petraeus and Paula Broadwell and how its revelation was used to out the former CIA director. With the CIA potentially unaware of the Special Operations missions “kicking the hornets nest” in Libya, the book states, Petraeus realized after the attacks he was a “perpetual outsider” in the Obama administration and was already preparing his own resignation before the scandal.

Petraeus’ Personal Security Detachment long knew of the affair, the book alleges, and the FBI had been alerted and was trying to shut the investigation down due to a lack of criminal wrong-doing. But the book says that CIA officers “found a way to initiate and FBI investigation” and used it to “force Petraeus to resign.”

“It is interesting that Petraeus was already on his way out the door over Benghazi and the CIA none the less forced him out on their terms rather than his own,” the authors write.

As for accusations that the U.S. has been facilitating or allowing weapons to go from Libya to rebels in Syria, which Sen. Rand Paul called out earlier this month as potentially “part of the cause” for the attack, The Daily Beast reported National Security Council spokesman Tommy Viector saying this “is completely made up.” On the flip side, Brigitte Gabriel, a leading expert on Islamic extremism, in a recent interview with TheBlaze said she is certain there was such an operation and that Ambassador Christopher Stevens “died because he was involved and because something went wrong.”

Murphy;s and Webb’s take? The book says Stevens would not likely have been involved in a weapons-running operation as it would “not fall under the purview of a foreign services officer in the State Department.”

This investigation is not going fast enough or deep enough and it seems like all roads lead to Obama and Hillary. Go down another road and there is Obama and Holder for Fast and Furious. These bums need to be thrown out of office ASAP. Better yet they need to be thrown in jail.

  Why do egyptians or anybody living in the middle east need assault rifles with 30 rd magazines? There are no deer in the middle east that I know of. Or do they need that type of firepower to fight an oppressive govt? I will wait for your answers since you have the utmost faith in the actions of our dictator.

So where are all the Folks who hated Ollie, Reagan, and the Bushes so much for all their “Secret War” stuff? Where are Woodhead and Burnbutt when you need them? Scooter Libby did TIME for Val the Pal getting “outed” but we can’t find out WHO briefed the President?

  There was no “secret” war. We helped the rebels over throw there dictator. We knew some of the rebels were al-Qaeda linked. So when Momar was overthrown we went after those groups. We will never know the whole story cause governments including ours never release the whole truth. We still don’t know what part Reagan had in Contra scandle. We know Mr. North took the fall for it.   Welcome to this site. I don’t think it is always the fault of the Blaze when your post are slow getting on. I have been here a while too and mine are slow sometimes and many times I get an error and it never gets posted. Keep a check on your anti-virus program too bc I have picked up viruses here and I think outside sources work pretty hard against Glenn’s websites. I am also one that likes what Glenn is trying to do for all of us because of love for our country. Anyway, glad you got posted and looking forward to hearing your input.

One big issue I have with Amb. Stevens and Benghazi is the background on Stevens. If you look at the professional timeline of Stevens and where he was stationed and when there is a pattern which is very interesting. Almost always in a hot spot during a time of incredible turmoil. Just makes me wonder if he was something more than a State Department employee. Looks from the outside this guy was doing more than State Department business.

1. Months worth of denial of needed security. Removal of 2 remaining units a few weeks before 9/11.
2. Denial of requested security just prior to 9/11 in spite of knowledge of surrounding al Qaeda
affiliate flags on buildings in Benghazi.
3. Denial of help all during the attack, denial of the ex SEALS requests for taking out the mortar sites
that they “lit up”.
4. No investigation of the site for weeks, even though reporters were able to wander the site
immediately afterwards.
Either you believe Obama and everyone in his administration it is incompetent and dumber than doorknobs, or you examine what they most likely were setting up. First of all, the video was necessary to the planned operation, which I believe was the likely kidnapping of Stevens, to be traded for the Blind Sheik. Getting the Sheik back was a high priority for Obama’s friend Morsi, it had been rumored before 9/11 to be in the works. The video was to provide cover, Obama could not be seen to be dealing with “terrorists” but being sensitive to enraged, insulted Muslims, was icing on the cake for the “Oct. surprise” to showcase Obama’s foreign policy negotiating skills and sensitivity to Islamic world, and to salve Muslim ire for the killing of bin Laden. Smoke and mirrors. Treason? Maybe. We are about to have the likely architect confirmed as head of the CIA. If 2 courageous ex SEALS had not refused orders and gone to fight, they might have pulled it off. Not true?

Is the US Senate SO CORRUPT that Brennan would seriously be considered to head the CIA when this information is available? If even ONE Republican votes for him, they need to be PRIMARIED, regardless any “title” of “Republican” OR “Tea Party”.

The current nominee was involved? Normally I don’t pay attention to foreign news events, but the last couple of years, with Egypt and then the Libya attack, as a civilian, you throw your hands up in the air and say enough? We’re not questioning the spooks in the field, or the work of the military, we have to ask ourselves the fundamental question, one dime that goes to an Islamic state, supports the religion of Islam, now that we understand that, and the consequences of that decision, we can’t support it any more?

It’s not to make enemies, its to at least not assist anything in the future that could go wrong, and be a part of it? Which really strikes me odd, for decades, and I mean decades, the media has been acting like, well, if we only had a just cause, that we could rally behind? There it is? You tell your buddies in these Islamic countries, no hard feelings, but our grandfathers taught you how to fish, we’re out of bait, we got to go feed our families now, have a nice day?

That would gain the United States more respect than any thing else we could imagine, but it takes civilians telling members of Congress, hey, we gave you the benefit of the doubt, you had an embassy open that clearly should have been closed, because common sense and your foreign allies told you so?

  Thanks for your wise observation but you failed the basic rule of discernment. That is simply nothing more than understanding there wasn’t an Embassy in Benghazi, it was called a diplomatic mission for the low info voter which is nothing more than govt. speak for a CIA safehouse that was exposed when there corruption blew up in their face!

There is a mistake in this article. Brandon Webb was a SEAL but Jack Murphy was not. Murphy was a Ranger and then SF.

Ya know, I just want things to come out in the open. I want to be able to say “I tried to tell you” and have proof to back it up. I am so weary of all the lies and cover-ups and seeing bad people continually come out on top! It’s like watching a bad soap that never ends and the bad guy never getting what is owed him/her! I’m tired of never getting a good night’s sleep because I worry about my kids and grandkids and what kind of future they will have. I have written to my representatives, my husband has called their offices, shared info with others…what else can we do?

  CAVALLO…Ty Woods’ father is on record saying that Hillary approached him at his own son’s funeral saying she’d bring the filmmaker to justice. Hillary’s penchant for having others take the fall for her aside….I’m gutted that congress won’t get these people under oath and have some genuine accountability for this monumental blunder and display of negligence.
  This isn’t a truther thing where their accusations fall apart at the slightest questioning. This just gets worse the more information that is released.
  
  Hillary’s performance before congress was a detestable show of contempt. Surely someone in congress has the fortitude and foresight to understand that the truth must told under oath not only because it’s the right thing and the moral thing to do but because one of the perpetrators of this debacle is planning a run for the presidency in 2016?
  
  Can’t they see that by getting the truth out it would also ruin Hillary’s chances and prevent this kind of politician from ever having the means to do this again? Sickening.

Other than interesting history, nothing of significance will come of this. No real perpetrators will be brought to account. If necessary, just to make things go away, they’ll throw some lower level less connected bureaucrat on the pyre. Other than that, it’s just interesting facts.

They WON’T do any real journalism, mind you. They abdicated that role to the bloggers and professionals who now are trying to look out for their brethren and the nation at large… Webb and Murphy sadly represent what America needs now… people willing to ask the uncomfortable question and dig where people don’t want them digging to provide facts about what is really happening in Amerika.

Funny all the ‘your country is doing things you think only other countries do’ yammering is silent now that their President is in place, a man who hides everything possible, while claiming to be transparent…

the fact that isn’t refuted by the Press daily is proof they’ve capitulated.

  and yet the MSM will ignore all of this claiming it is merely speculation…no the authors say it’s speculation..did you miss the likely, might, could haves?…we’ll have to wait for historians etc etc…rather than historians will confirm our findings…they maybe correct but they don’t know and neither will the reader..it’s what THEY say,not the MSM…should it be ignored?..I don’t know..hard to believe it as fact when the author’s tell us they can’t prove it, don’t have the evidence…but might be..shame our “Oversight Committees” don’t prevent ex-navy seal written speculations by providing facts to the American people…be so much cleaner.

I would stack up Anything Murphy and Webb have to say about Benghazi against Obama, Clinton, Panetta, Brennan and the House of Liars in DC! Did you say former Navy Seals spilling the beans and singing like canaries? Yup. They eventually all do. I can’t WAIT to order this book and will RELISH every dam word! Good for Murphy and Webb! Valerie Jarrett, Obama, Hillary, Brennan, Panetta and Kerry…..
There was a time in American history, before this pathetic bunch of pretenders, when we used to know how to enact and ENFORCE effective foreign policy

A secret CIA Op via any government agency would by its nature NOT follow any rules, except those set by the person in charge — Obama.

The pressure has to be maintained on Obama and all those involved in the Benghazi massacre and the arms running to the terrorists. Crack by crack, the pressure needs to be maintained and increased until all comes bursting out and brings Obama down.

The biggest shocker in this book, is that Brenner and Barry are running Operations, “by passing the Pentagon, State Department, and CIA”.. Hmmmm I wonder why… prob just dont want to bother those guys at those agencys or departments., they have enough to do already, besides.. Barry and Brenner can handle it, wasnt there just some other storie that came out about Brenner? Oh yeah thats right, I remember now. How you spell Trea… on never mind. Lets just go along to get along.
