Ted Nugent Responds to ‘Nonsense’ Gun Control Proposals in Obama’s Speech

Ted Nugent Reacts to Obamas State of the Union Speech

Ropck musician and gun rights activist Ted Nugent listens to US President Barack Obama deliver his State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress on February 12, 2013 at the US Capitol in Washington. Credit: AFP/Getty Images

Outspoken rocker and gun rights advocate Ted Nugent was unimpressed with President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, especially the part about gun control. He said the president is just spewing “more nonsense” that will not help stop shootings from occurring.

Nugent, dressed in a sport coat, jeans and cowboy boots, attended the State of the Union address as a guest of Texas GOP Rep. Steve Stockman.

“Nothing [Obama] proposes or nothing he’s been proposed would have stopped any of the shootings. None of those shooters are gonna register anything,” Nugent said, surrounded by reporters on the House floor following Obama’s speech.

He continued: “Canada finally abandoned its multibillion waste of a C68 gun law where goose hunters and farmers had to register their squirrel rifles. And it didn’t do anything to reduce crime or save any lives…Who doesn’t know this? Who doesn’t know that registration and limitation on magazine capacity and the color of guns has anything to do with saving lives and reducing crime?”

Every time Obama gives a “flowery” speech, he either does “the opposite or nothing at all,” Nugent explained, adding that “nothing will be improved.”

However, that’s not to say that Nugent didn’t enjoy any part of Obama’s speech.

“My favorite part is when I couldn’t hear clearly because then I didn’t have to get angry,” he added.

Well, at least that’s something.

“Because Jesus was sacrificed & died for their sins. They no longer have to pay the penalty for their sins”. This is nonsense and ignorance. Yes, the Lord Jesus Christ (you are not on a first name basis with him) died for our sins, but you are not thereby pardoned alone. You must also repent (turn away) from your sins and receive Him as your savior.
As to Obama and his ilk, they will be judged soon enough. Why God is holding back on this, Obama not being qualified to hold the office of the presidency, I don’t know. I do believe that God is using this Kenyan to bring about a divine judgment upon Americans because of their great sin of accepting and tolerating homosexuality, not to mention the many other sins being committed now days. There is a grave warning about tolerating homosexuals in scripture.

John in Jackson: Where or who taught you the bible? Politicians and sinners WILL pay for their sins. They will be judged by the law of God on judgment day. Only those who are truly HIS will not have to pay for their sins because they received the sacrifice He made upon the cross. Even though Christ died for the sins of the whole world, that does not mean that ALL receive Him as their savior. The judgment hand of God is upon our nation. Wake up! God is using the vessels of wrath fitted for destruction (evil polititicians) to carry out the will of God. They are puppets that have satan for their master and they believe that satan is going to reward them. They truly believe this. They do not realize that they will pay in hell for all eternity for rejecting His sacrifice.

      @ jezreel

The Great White Throne judgement where all unbelievers will be judged makes no mention of sin. All sin has been judged once in Christ. Judging it again would be double jeopardy.

Revalation 20:12 “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened ; and another book was opened, which is the book of life ; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their DEEDS.”

People are going to actually be saying…”look at all the GOOD THINGS I did, which are written in the Book of Deeds. Yet Jesus will simply say, “He foes not know you”. As they are tossed they will then understand how easily that could have been avoided.

John in Jackson.—-I understand what your trying to say but, we do pay a penalty for our sins. ” The wages of sin is death” God certainly punishes us when we sin even here on earth. Christ died on the needed, took sin upon himself so that we would have the opportunity for forgiveness and eternal life.those who reject Christ are condemned. sorry to get preachy and way off topic. this country is beginning to see the punishment for our national sin of turning away from God and putting our faith in man. Growing poverty, destruction of families, chaos and so on.

      John in Jackson,

So what your saying is that before Christ died for our sins, lighting struck down all sinners? I call ******** and this is why I can’t stand organized religion. I do my very best to follow Christ but I don’t go to “Church” I talk to Jesus fairly regularly. In reading the Christian bible (New Testament), there are many examples of sinners but not a single instance of one of those sinners being struck down by lightning. Gods punishment does not come on Earth. If God struck down sinners with lightning, there would be a lot of burn marks in Catholic Chruches were pehodphilic priests committed their sins. Not only aren’t there burn marks, the management of the church and pretty much the entire membership looked the other way while they knew it was going on. ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

John in Jackson, Christ was the Paschal Lamb which provides us with our salvation. We still must make amends for our sin (Matt. 5:25-26). We also still have our tendency to commit and attachment to sin which must be burned away in the purifying fire of Purgatory (Cor. 3:15). Nothing unclean may enter into heaven. Thank God for Purgatory.

      @Judeo

1 Cor 3:12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each man’s work will become evident ; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss ; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Work is judged here, not sin. If your work glorifies God, it does not burn. If it glorified you? Burn baby burn.

Hitler was an embittered ex-member of a Communist Party. A detailed analysis of the influence of Marxism on the National Socialist Party takes up one (long) chapter of Jonah Goldberg’s book, “Liberal Fascism.” If the wordplay gets too mind-boggling, just remember that totalitarian governments, whether they claim to fit on the Left or on the Right, are in practice very much alike.

Obama gave a great speech. It was about improving the country, growing jobs and the economy, ending the war in Afghanistan, and taking a vote in Congress on some reasonable measures to reduce gun violence. I’m not sure what speech you listened to.

. I have seen people here call him communist, socialist, fascist, marxist,… not realizing that most of those political philosophies are opposed to each other and Obama is none of those things.

Oh, Obama… He’s not a dictator. He’s a president that half of Congress doesn’t even listen to. The Republicans in Congress haven’t let any of Obama’s proposals go through. Obama can’t dictate anything. Tea Party Republicans are the ones trying to dictate everything.

So Uncle “Bad Touch” Ted can’t even wear a pair of slacks when attending a government meeting. No class, no sense and no respect.
I have a very conservative friend who’s wife was invited to the White House by Valerie Jarrett just a couple years ago and he had the decency to dress appropriately.

Respect? For what? More lies and deceit and distortion from the LIAR in Chief!! Ted looked really good for Ted. Why would he wear a suit when attending a BS speech like that and take a risk of throwing up all over it while having to listen to Obama’s lies and bile?? Ted was politely asked to attend and he politely attended. It goes over your head about what Ted said. All you can do is look at how he dressed. pfft….

Why do you have to ‘love’ that guy? Can’t you just strongly agree with his opinions on gun control, but judge him as a person based on his entire record, including his draft dodging, pedophilia, insane comments, etc. On that note, can’t you just be happy that there is a relatively famous person as a member of your tea party without hating all the celebrities that have opposing opinions? I’m against a lot of gun control policies, I’m from detroit and I like the song “stranglehold”, yet I don’t like Nugent and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t like you.

@NLITED1 maybe its you who need to do a little reading of history. Ted was in college so the draft dodging stuff is BS much like everything that comes out of your mouth. “I went down for my physical, clean and sober,” Nugent continued. “I got one wide deferment because I was in college, which isn’t really a deferment. Freedom of Information Act would prove that I didn’t dodge the draft. They just repeat a made-up story in High Times from 44 years ago. It’s been repeated thousands – thousands – of times because that’s all they’ve got. What they’ve got isn’t even really true. If I’d have gotten drafted, we’d have won the fu*king war.”

I know exactly where that is, and I’ve met him too and know a couple guys in Whitelake who are still ‘friends’ with him. Small world. I don’t think I slandered him (or libeled him), he wasn’t always the lovable Nuge that he is today–he has some serious skeletons and everything he says about politics is technically insane rambling. Concerning BHO and his birth certificate or his SS# or his coke days, or his gay stuff, or his muslimness, or just about any of the attacks on him, I wouldn’t think less of you for making those comments. I love conspiracy theories! I think you should have to possess a sense of reality about them, and if you actually and whole-heartedly believe the conspiracy theories, you may need some self-reflection…but I love sharing conspiracies. Have you heard the one where Bill Clinton killed over 100 people during his presidency to hide all that whitewater stuff? I actually believe that one more than a lot of the other accusations about him. Are Bush’s DUI and coke use or Laura Bush’s killing an ex-boyfriend conspiracy theories? I thought those were just facts. The Obama stuff isn’t fact as far as I know. It is fact that he was a muslim, but to the best of my knowledge, he has been a christian going to church and listening to his loud preacher for quite a while now. The birther stuff is interesting to me in all honesty. I read those court files and think there may be something to them…but in my reality, I assume innocent until proven guilty.

Doesn’t that imply that there is a threat of being shot for being impolite? I imagine you mean that concealed carry deters acts of violence (studies don’t support this, even though I think it is a logical assumption), but I think in a larger sense, it would also make people think twice before being impolite or rude, and would likely scare some people from acting in ways that could be seen as offensive, and before a person playfully scares someone or pulls a practical joke on a friend, and maybe they think twice before tapping some lady on the shoulder–she is entitled to ‘stand her ground’ and she’s probably on edge if she sees a need to carry a weapon. I don’t like gun control generally, but I don’t think we should encourage gun ownership either. I got an idea that does encourage gun ownership…maybe as a pilot program, in a small urban city with high rates of violence and poverty, the government gives guns (for free) to needy non-felons who are likely to be victims of crime. They could give them a gun, some thorough training, and even put a gps chip in it so they don’t sell it to a criminal. Afterward, they could gather data to see if having a gun helped or alternatively, if accidental shootings increased and/or if having a gun escalated conflicts more often, etc. It’s a valid question I think, and even though I’m personally opposed to the idea of encouraging gun ownership, a study like this would have the potential to change my mind.

NLITED1 – you sound just like Sensei – troll. Show us where you’re facts are that conceal carry doesnt lower crime. I can show you facts that the cities with the strictest gun control laws have the highest gun crime rate. Washington DC, NYC and Chicago(go figure) are the highest crime rates. Here’s a little FYI for you….there were 2000 gun laws in effect when the Sandy Hook AND Aurora shooting took place. Did it stop them? You’re theory holds zero water. Run along now useful idiot.

      Did you want more?
Still, I don’t think you are necessarily wrong. It would seem to make sense that conceal carry laws would deter some crimes. These articles merely say that there is no proof it does. One thing you may have not considered is that it would also likely increase accidental shootings, impulse shootings, as well as collateral shootings that were unintended. I personally think that gun rights favor the poor, the weak, and those that are historically and unequally persecuted in society…in other words, I think guns help democrats not your stereotypical conservatives. But, I also think that Unions and abortion rights are inherently conservative ideals that bespeak smaller government. Do you think about these things or do you just get red in the face and murmur your little NRA lullabies? “you’ll have to pry my gun from my cold dead fingers”. It’s ironic that you call me an idiot, useful or otherwise. You should look up that word.

There is a story by RA Heinlein that has an armed society. If you are armed, you have a responsibility to maintain peaceful behavior because if you can’t, you will be tried for murder. You can duel with proper behavior but if you just shoot someone, you get dead in return, by an impromptu court, immediately. The persons who cannot be armed; children, drunks, peace and love types are sacrosanct. You cannot even touch them. VERY polite society.

Open carry makes for a polite society because of how an open carrier acts, more than how people around him acts. I open carry nearly daily, and when I do, I’m calm, polite, I smile a lot and I always present the best face I can to the public. The last thing I want to be seen as, is a threat, plus I wish to ensure that everybody is at ease around me right from the get go. I honestly don’t know an open carrier that is not like this, though clearly I don’t know all open carriers.

If many people open carried, and assuming that they act as I and other OC’ers do, that would in fact make for a more polite society.

And, frankly, others do act very deferential and nice around me as well. I’ve seen people I could hear a mile away on a city street yelling out in ‘diverse’ ways, get quiet and very polite once they catch site of me. Fear? Maybe, I really don’t know, but it’s not unreasonable to conclude that they see an openly armed person as somebody that can’t scream epithets and names at with impunity.

Seems to work well all the way around, if you ask me.

Should have been expected (it was) that the only losers who hated Obama’s speech are the racists like you on this site!

Obama gave a great speech. It was about improving the country, growing jobs and the economy, ending the war in Afghanistan, and taking a vote in Congress on some reasonable measures to reduce gun violence. I’m not sure what speech you listened to.

. I have seen people here call him communist, socialist, liar, marxist,… not realizing that most of those political philosophies are opposed to each other and Obama is none of those things.

Oh, Obama… He’s not a dictator. He’s a president that half of Congress doesn’t even listen to. The Republicans in Congress haven’t let any of Obama’s proposals go through. Obama can’t dictate anything. Tea Party Republicans are the ones trying to dictate everything.
