Missouri Dems Introduce Alarming Gun Confiscation Bill Giving Law-Abiding Gun Owners 90 Days to Turn in Certain Firearms or Become Felons

Credit: AP
Democrats in Missouri introduced startling anti-gun legislation that would require gun owners to hand over their legally purchased so-called “assault weapons” to “the appropriate law enforcement agency for destruction” within 90 days.
Under the proposed bill, “Any person who, prior to the effective date of this law, was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine shall have ninety days from such effective date to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution.”
Here are some additional provisions found in the gun control bill:
(1) Remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from the state of Missouri;
(2) Render the assault weapon permanently inoperable; or
(3) Surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the appropriate law enforcement agency for destruction, subject to specific agency regulations.
[..]
5. Unlawful manufacture, import, possession, purchase, sale, or transfer of an assault weapon or a large capacity magazine is a class C felony.
So essentially the law would turn a law-abiding gun owner today, into a felon tomorrow.
State Reps. Rory Ellinger (D-86) and Jill Schupp (D-88) reportedly introduced the anti-gun legislation, House Bill 545, this week.
Gun confiscation is being talked about more and more by lawmakers as a means to get so-called “assault weapons,” which are really semi-automatic rifles, off the streets. Democrats in California last week also proposed legislation that called for the potential confiscation of the state’s 166,000 legally purchased semi-automatic rifles.
California Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) defended the massive gun control package, saying “we can save lives.”

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 7:26pmThis is exactly what the dems want; make the citizens that abide by the law the criminals if they try to exercise their 2nd amendment rights. Does this stupid person actually believe that this will take the guns out of the criminals hands/??? Hell it is a felony for many of these felons to have a gun in the first place, yet that has stopped their access or possession of guns, has it????
PS. Another thing that kills me about the Dems is that they are against the death penalty, yet they are all for the killing of innocent babies, that includes many that could/would live if they hadn’t been aborted. The same Dems were against Bush waterboarding a few terrorist, yet they stand quietly by when Obama uses drones to kill whoever he wishes, even American citizens, without a trial or even an arrest. I wonder just how many innocent people have been killed by Obama’s drone program??? Remember this is the same Obama that called the seals a “hit squad” and many top Dems call the military murderers. Then Obama tells the world that he ordered the hit on osama and how great of a leader he is…LOL. How do you leftist look at yourself in the mirror without laughing at themselves to death??? You are such hypocritical fools that are willing to destroy America in order to implement your Commie/Socialist policies.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 7:18pmThis legislation is anathema to the Constitution of the United States. To propose such an anti-freedom piece of ‘legislation’ suggests the willful and wanton violation of the elected official’s oath. At best it represents the misfeasance, malfeasance, and/or non-feaseance of the individuals and at worst the treasonous intent. Perhaps the people need to refresh their memory as to what the punishment is for treasonous activity. I would suggest a Citizen’s Court be held where the those who proposed the ‘legislation’ can provide answers as to why and how they believe such could be legal (within the bounds and spirit of the Constitution) and not a violation of their oath.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 9:39pmALEAJACTAEST it would be the rarest of individual. Those who put the oath they take above themselves. It would be entirely possible that the legislators could be found not guilty and then that individual would place themselves between the legislator and any crowd who did not agree with the decision. Kind of like John Adams did when he represented the British soldiers. If you find individuals who believe in the Constitution, understand the founding history of our country and our founding fathers, understand that man is basically wicked, and follow the same judeo-christian principles that founded this country that is a good start. With individuals like this now could be the time to start.

I think this maybe in order here, they usually recover in a few months and have a different outlook. And treat folks a little different.

USvs Miller 1939 said 2a meant we could have same weapons as the military. WIsh these clowns in office would read some history and understand the rulings and quit pushing this leftist commie disarmament down our free throats.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 6:02pmThis will never pass. However, Thank you Democrats for all of the publicity.
Now, the following bills WILL probably pass:
Bill that prohibits health care professionals from entering firearm related information into health records, and prohibits school officials from asking students about firearms in the home;
Bill that makes it a felony for federal officials to enforce any federal gun related law passed after 12/31/2012 in Missouri… and provides that if such happens the State’s Attorney General may provide a legal defense for the citizens involved.
Missouri is an open carry state; however certain municipalities have local laws/ordinances prohibiting open carry. A Bill will repeal authority and render void all such laws/ordinances in the state. (Allowing open carry in ALL jurisdictions)
Again, Thanks Democrats! There’s nothing like bringing attention to the state over gun control when we have Republican super-majorities in both sides of the legislature, AND some pro-gun Democrats to boot.
Oops!
