Preschool ‘Scrambling’ to Find Students for Obama Visit…Because It’s Winter Break

President Barack Obama’s visit to a Georgia preschool to unveil his plan for universal pre-K is not without a few snags — namely, the students themselves.
Obama is set to visit a pre-K classroom at the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center in Decatur, Ga. shortly after noon Thursday, but that’s apparently proven to be a challenge, given that the school system is currently on winter break, a school staff member confirmed to TheBlaze.
The staff member refused to comment on how Obama’s visit was being handled with the students technically off, but Atlanta’s WSB radio reported that “teachers and administrators have been scrambling to get parents to bring their 4-year-olds back to school so the president will not have to tour empty classrooms.”
βIt was quite a good response,β Decatur Schools legislative liaison Courtney Burnett told WSB of how parents reacted. βItβs about 75 percent per classroom.β
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze about why the school was chosen if it was on break or who made the request to bring students back.
Obama called for expanding preschool programs during his State of the Union address Tuesday night.
“I propose working with states to make high-quality preschool available to every single child in America,” Obama said Tuesday. “In states that make it a priority to educate our youngest children, like Georgia or Oklahoma, studies show students grow up more likely to read and do math at grade level, graduate high school, hold a job, form more stable families of their own. We know this works. So letβs do what works and make sure none of our children start the race of life already behind. Letβs give our kids that chance.”
βUpdate: The White House press pool reported that Obama visited with a classroom of 16 children ages 4 and 5. Among the greetings the kids called out were “Are you our teacher?”, “Welcome, Mr. President” and “I saw you on TV.”
Obama sat down to play at a couple different tables, including one where he picked up a magnifying glass.
“This is sort of like ‘I Spy.’ I remember ‘I Spy,’” Obama said.
The report noted that the school had been closed for break but was reopened for Obama’s visit.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 10:24pmHere in GA, that is the SAME county where most of the “entitlement” populus have elected and re-elected Hank Johnson, if you might not remember, who thinks that Guam will capsize with too many military people, their families, and so forth.
So OF COURSE they put out a call to make a good showing for “dear ruler’s” visit to promote yet-another-tax-dollar program — oops, I mean “investment”, as they claim.

don’t mind that it is a preschool in one of the most corrupt counties of the state of georgia (hugely democratic) and its public education is one of the worst in the nation.
the whole thing stinks to hi heaven. he was propably getting things lined up for the rigging of the next elections… you know the dems keep touting how they are going to turn texas and georgia and the carolinas blue…
by hook or by crook.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 7:14pmSo much for our intelligence department. Can’t even plan a trip to a school for a photo op. How much money did Obama invest on this trip?

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 6:40pmI wouldn’t have had to scramble to bring my kids back to the preschool…..because I never put them in preschool. I raised them myself and they did just fine without a preschool.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 6:12pmThis guy cost little kids a day of their hard-earned winter vacation because he was either too stupid or too arrogant to look up their schedule to see if there was school that day. Nice job America.

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 3:40pmThis brings up some thoughts on obama’s SOTU address about mandatory school for 3-4 yr old children. obama’s policy on population control….supporting abortion & homosexuality….has created a bleak future for his pals in the unions. The teachers’ unions can see the decline in school age children each year. So how do they hang on to their jobs & support the union bosses? Simple, make it mandatory that you send your 3 & 4 yr olds to public schools. obama says they need to learn to read ….how about a test that you must be able to read before you graduate high school? Many cannot read after 12 yrs of public education. Take the tiny children away from the parents influence so they can learn only what the government wants & keep the unions happy with enough children to fill the schools . Is this what you want for your children?

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 2:45pmThe “popularity” polls of obama are extremely distorted. There is NOTHING to like about the guy. Since when does an alinsky radical and a liar spell popularity? Seriously?

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 2:34pmMore “fakeness” for a photo op for the “pretender in chief”. Not surprising, Obama will go down in history as the biggest fraud in our countries history. Everything about him is a sham. It’s stunning.
