You Knew This Would Happen: Poland Spring Water Releases Response to Rubio Speech

You might have enjoyed a bottle of Poland Spring or two in your day, but Florida Sen. Marco Rubio really put the natural spring water brand on the map Tuesday night with his infamous water break during his response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

Poland Spring has responded to its cameo role with this:

Poland Spring Responds to Attention It Received After Sen. Marco Rubio Takes a Sip During SOTU Rebuttal

(Image: Poland Spring Facebook)

The spokesperson for Nestle Waters, which distributes the Maine-based water product, Jane Lazgin said to The Hill, “Everyone gets thirsty and we’re really glad Poland Spring was close at hand.â€

Poland Spring became a Twitter meme after Rubio’s sip. Here are some of the tweets that have come out in the Poland Spring conversation since:

Although the unexpected promotion was welcome, Lazgin told NBC News she is not sure if it will result in a sales bump for the product. Some think Poland Spring might have been too late with its response though to capitalize on its 15 minutes of free fame. Here’s more on that from the Wall Street Journal’s MarketWatch and marketing manager of Impact Branding & Design John Bonini:

Poland Spring, a subsidiary of Nestlé (US:NSRGY)  (CH:NESN), could have also seen a direct bump of $3 million in sales, a small but not insignificant amount in its overall sales, Bonini estimates, calling it a social-media failure. “With consumer products, it’s all about getting the name stuck in your head like the song you heard on the radio,†he says. The way to do that, he says, was to send a public tweet in the heat of the moment. The company’s Twitter account @PolandSpringWtr (link) has seen nothing but tumbleweed since July 2010, when it tweeted: “Find out what we are doing to help preserve our national parks!â€

Now there’s one last place we’ll have to wait and see if the Poland Spring meme will make it: Saturday Night Live. Let’s see if they pick it up.

In case you missed Poland Spring’s small role in Rubio’s rebuttal to the SOTU address, check it out here:

MUST TAKE AT LEAST TWO DRINKS OF WATER

    Barry does it !

I would argue we don’t need another polished politician we already have more then enough. Actually speaking of most in Washington I would say you can’t polish a turd. We need less politicians and more common sense. Hopefully Rubio is a man of the people not just another Turd from Washington.

The great thing is Rubio’s sense of humor about it. I think he should do it at every major speech now. The more he makes fun of himself for it, the more the left looks like the old guys that don’t get the joke. (Which they are)

This is what you must know:

“Mr. President, I still live in the same working-class neighborhood I grew up in,” Rubio said, trying to highlight his modest roots as he laid out the alternative Republican vision for helping the middle class.

A real estate listing shows Rubio, is selling his 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home for an asking price of $675,000. The average market value of houses in West Miami is $202,600, according to real estate website Zillow.

Yeah, just another simple man of the people . . . and his word! (Shhh . . . hear that? . . . Sounds like . . . Dick Cheney shooting his friend in the face again.)

Now, let’s see that birth certificate, shall we?

At least Rubio didn’t have some real estate broker fix up a “deal” for him. You surely remember the “deal” that Obama got in Chicago. The average is just that an average. That means that some homes are higher priced and some are lower.

Before the Dems at Fannie/Freddie and in Congress killed the real estate market, homes actually used to appreciate at reasonable rates. Formerly working class, in-town neighborhoods were “discovered” , re-habbed and became swank, desirable and expensive locales.

So it’s not at all unusual for a family that stayed-put to reap the benefits of that appreciation and “still” rightly claim to live in the working class neighborhood they moved into 30 years ago.

The house I grew up in wouldn’t sell for $110,000 in 1980 and at the top of the market in 2007 was listed for $1.2 million, so middle class neighborhood becomes upper class neighborhood…go figure.

Must be some Republican market manipulation. Too bad I was long gone by 1980.

As a tea party member and fellow patriot may I say to you: weather you agree with Rubio 100% of the time or not you have to respect what he’s accomplished in his short time in the senate. You may or may not know this but unlike the house the senate operates strictly on seniority. We better get this totalitarian mentality of everyone must agree exactly as we do type purity test or we risk becoming exactly what we despise! Principles and adherence to our values is what counts. when it comes to Rubio his biggest issue is his record, he has voted yes on things that he has not read and that have been unconstitutional which show he either is anti constitution or incompetent (i think its this one) because of response to constituents on CISPA. Basically that is reckless and not doing your job as senator. Rand Paul votes no on things he hasn’t read like hes suppose to and does a better job protecting the constitution to.

According to the enemy, the problem with Rubio is he is human and likes his water without tea causing subliminal hypocrisy. My big issue is he was born in Alberta giving no chance of a run for POTUS even though the enemy didnt let the law stand in their way on that issue. I would like to hear more on his immigration stance. He seems lucid and articulate giving him an edge in that Bizzaro World called DC
