The Very Boring Video of the Giant Asteroid Passing Earth That You Probably Don’t Want to Watch
It happened. The 150-feet* wide DA14 asteroid that had been hyped for some time finally passed by earth at 2:24pm ET only 17,000 miles away — which was the closest it was going to come to our plant. And finally, after all the hype, it ended up being extremely boring. How boring? Watch — if you dare — and try to stay awake:
*We’ve updated the story to note the asteroid was not 150-miles wide. Maybe it would have been more exciting if it was.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on February 17, 2013 at 8:58amHere is a system that actually *tracked* the asteroid and captured a video.
I’ve devoted my entire life’s work developing the off-the-shelf system used in the link below that is capable of tracking these fast movers (Near Earth Objects); privately, with blood sweat and tears and no government funding.
http://www.virtualtelescope.eu/2013/02/16/asteroid-2012-da14-very-close-encounter-an-exceptional-sequence/
Most other videos show systems that simply pointing to one place in the sky and captured the asteroid going by.
It is *substantially* more difficult to track the asteroid moving more than 1/2 of a degree a minute and this gives better scientific data on the asteroid itself.

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 4:59amThey’ve indicated that this rock may have disrupted the orbits of existing birds and sent them hurtling to Earth, so, no, this was not an “attack” by the United States on Russia, shame on Pravda for encouraging such things (good grief, we have Americans thinking we are attacking Mars!)?
Men have put a lot of things up there, and you never know what’s tagging along in the wake of these objects. Signs from God? Eh, we see things in the sky all the time, I don’t automatically chalk things up to divine intervention when men have been so active in the air.
I also don’t believe the government is running around micro chipping people with mind control experiments, some people might believe anything, and I take a grain of salt to everything I hear. Anyone that reads the gospel seriously should know that if Jesus said don’t worry about what time it is, the baptism of power is greater than fear?
Imagine living your life, based on your perception of headlights moving in the distance (stars) without knowing they are really the headlights of cars, moving down the highway? In other words men are wired to delude themselves easily? Such is the work of prophecy to too many?
Greater things shall you do, then he did? That’s the only prophecy you need to concentrate on?

Posted on February 15, 2013 at 6:18pmDang! I thought the Lord was going to throw another rock at us like the one in the Ural Mountains of Russia. Disappointed that the Lord is aiming so poorly. He must be getting so old and his eye site is so poor. I vote we all take up a Big Collection for the Lord so he can get new eye glasses. Then his aim will be so much better next time. I just would love a direct hit wouldn’t you? sniff. Sniff. So disappointed.

Posted on February 15, 2013 at 4:49pmWow, seriously?? You folks have been way too overstimulated by Hollywood special effects! What did you expect an image of a building sized rock taken from 17,000 miles away to actually look like? Did you expect that giant fantasy rock from Armageddon, with swirling dust clouds and an animal like roar as it passed?? Sheesh!!
This was real, it was a real story about real science, and it is amazing. BTW, a few years ago the prediction was for it to pass as close as 12,000 miles, so that prediction was off by 5,000 miles. (Don’t scoff… you try to predict the path of a bullet years in advance by watching it move via a telescope in the dark… not easy.) If the variance had been 5,000 miles closer instead of further out, maybe more people would have been excited by it.

If it were possible from my little part of the world, I would have had my SCT on it.

Posted on February 15, 2013 at 3:29pmLook at the matter in light of the small detonation over Russia today: would you rather have a very boring flyby of that hunk of rock, or have it land on a city and flatten the place in a megaton size detonation?

Not quite as flashy and boomy as the Russian meteor was…Which according to Alex Jones could have possibly been a kinetic attack on Russia by the US…No kidding, this is supposedly where the “real” news is at…
