Wild Video Captures the Massive Cafeteria Brawl Between Muslim and African-American Students at Minn. High School

MINNEAPOLIS (TheBlaze/AP) — A food fight quickly turned into a brawl involving hundreds of students at a Minneapolis high school on Thursday, forcing police to use chemical spray to break up the melee. Students are saying the melee was the result of tensions between 8 percent of students who are Somali Muslims and the 20 percent who are African Americans.

“I know it’s a pride thing between Muslims and black people,” student Symone Glasker said. “They want their pride back for something. I don’t know.”

Four people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, including a staff member who was hit in the head with a bottle, according to the school and police.

The 15-minute fracas broke out during lunchtime at South High School. No weapons were used, but about 200 to 300 students were involved, Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. Bill Palmer said.

Students were throwing food, plates, pop bottles – “anything they could get their hands on” – at school staff and police, Palmer said.

Another student, Abdi Sheikh, said he saw hundreds of students fighting, adding that it appeared to be racially motivated.

“A big riot,” he said. “It was all types of races.”

A dozen officers responded to the scene and used chemical spray to break up the fight, he added. School officials said police used chemical spray in the air above the crowd, though several students complained of the spray’s effects.

My understanding is that there is a sizable Vietnamese and Hmong population in Minnesota, and especially the twin cities… not the sort of people either of these groups would want to antagonize.

Perfect example of the ‘otherism’ that all cultures/ races/ creeds practice at some level, and how it can get out of hand when the young forget that they may be different for reason X, Y, or Z, but are still human beings.

  They instead want to transform what God divinely inspired into a human endeavor so they (the elite creators) can sit back and marvel at what they have wrought from their ivory towers in New York and our once Christian Universities.
  
  Nothing good will come from what man has created esp when they leave God out and tell him to take a hike. He has! This is just a mild symptom of the godless society we have become. Children killing children, parents murdering their own children, brother against brother and so on. Not one of us has ever seen this country in this bad of shape. The question is, will it lead to civil war of some kind or just a general break down and collapse of the entire American experiment.

Multiculturism is a failure just as diversity is and the school principal should be replaced , if this is good to him but would bad look like ? I’m thankful my children are out of school and have a working mind !

I rebuilt the plumbing in a somali mosque in my state. never met a more lazy bunch in my life.couldn’t work because they needed to pray 5 times a day,but each of them had a new cell phone and drove a lot better car than I did. One even went so far as to have a bumper sticker that said,”You paid for this on his car.Maybe the competition for the freebies is causing the strife.

A little off topic, but I was staying in a hotel across the street from a government school in Tampa. They had all of these flags flying outside banner style (straight up and down). One was Swedish a yellow cross on a blue field. They were flying it upside down so that it would not look like the Christian cross that it was. We are done, it is over you know?

  Yes it is over because the Christian nation that God rose up to be a beacon of freedom for the world has been imploding for a generation now and since it told God he is no longer needed. Its become full of evil things and at its core rotten. Its like a rotting apple, that if you cut away carefully here and there, you might find some salvagable apple to consume.

  I feel like a stranger in my own country, the country my forefathers built up, fought for. My people came here in the early 1700′s and on my moms side 1865. They fought in the revolutionary War, Civil War, WW1 and 2, Korea and Nam. Now its like that all the hard work has been done, others have come to claim what they have not built up. None of the stories or links say there were WHITE kids involved. No white kids arrested nor in the hospital. So ‘racially motivated’ now includes differences of religion, IF some of those fighting are American native citizens.

  The article says that it seemed to be racially motivated in response to one student saying that there seemed to be all races involved. . . I did see a white person on a gurney (not that it proves anything other than one was hurt in it). Just over a year ago there was a food fight in Minnesota that made the international news (I remember reading it across the world from here). Was that one racially motivated? Nearly 50 were arrested then and I believe that actual weapons(rather than weaponized milk boxes) were used in it. In these videos I could not see who was in the fight, but I heard students that were quite white egging them on. If the riot was anywhere else, they would be considered contributors, but since you see them and they aren’t black-they don’t count as being involved? The people I saw leaving the area were avoiding trouble-Muslim girls.
