4 People Were Shot Within 90 Minutes After President Obama Left Chicago, Where He Spoke on Gun Control

President Barack Obama spoke about his new gun control initiatives during a quick visit to his hometown of Chicago Friday, but the violence in one of the most dangerous cities in the United States did not abate.

The Politico relates:

Four separate shootings took place in the span of 90 minutes Friday evening in Chicago, the first coming less than an hour after Air Force One departed O’Hare Airport after President Obama spoke on the culture of gun violence and economic decay that plagues many cities, including his hometown.

An hour earlier, Obama wrapped up a personal speech at Hyde Park Academy on the South Side, where he mourned the killing of Hadiya Pendleton, the teen who visited Washington for his inauguration just a week before she was gunned down not far from the school. “This is not just a gun issue. It’s also an issue of the kinds of communities that we’re building, and for that we all share a responsibility as citizens to fix it,” he said.

Obama had said little about Chicago’s murder problem — there were more than 500 in 2012 — before Friday, instead focusing on mass shootings in his post-Newtown gun control push. But at a high school just two miles away from his Chicago home, he acknowledged the depths of devastation that street violence generated in the city.

“Last year, there were 443 murders with a firearm in this city, and 65 of them were 18 and under. That’s the equivalent of a Newtown every four months,” he said. “That’s precisely why the overwhelming majority of Americans are asking for some common sense proposals to make it harder for criminals to get their hands on a gun.” [Emphasis added]

Chicago already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, but some legislators say looser gun laws in neighboring states cancel out their efforts.

According to the Chicago Tribune, 3 men and a woman were the victims of Friday night’s 90-minute crime wave. The woman died; the men did not.

OK the problem is OBAMA sat his REAR in a nice SAFE school protected by Secret Service.. preaching to KIDS for FUTURE VOTES while OUTSIDE on the STREETS where the community organizer SHOULD have been preaching the GANG BANGERS were shooting.. although it’s reported they didn’t shoot till he left..   PROPAGANDA!!! Everyone KNOWS Chicago has some the most restrictive firearms ownership laws in the US and schools are “Gun Free Zones”, so tell me….how can there be ‘gun violence’ in such a place?   Like maybe for instance treating everyone over 15 who commits a crime with a gun as an adult. Mandatory minimums of 2.5 years for alluding to a firearm while committing a crime (finger in coat pocket). 5 years for brandishing. 10 years for discharging a firearm in the commission of a crime. 15 years for injury not requiring hospitalization and 25 years for injury resulting in hospitalization of greater than 36 hours. Life in prison for murder while committing a crime. Two gun violations equals life without time for good behavior and no judicial mitigation. The real problem here is how we are raising our kids and lack of consequences for poor behavior. Add to that the crippling sanctions of life in the “inner city”. Time to break up the inner cities and stop welfare for the people who can physically work. Take 10 billion of the foreign aid budget to provide GED and vocational training to people 18-30 and put them to work in canneries, meat packing plants and general labor in places other than Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, New Orleans, Houston, Detroit and LA.
  Spend 10 Billion on policing (very aggressively) gangs. Spend 5 billion for year round schools. The remaining 13 billion of the foreign aid budget could complete the border fence and rehabilitate our immigration system.

  I definitely agree that he should have been preaching on the streets. I do despise this man- however, I actually did hear some of the speech where he addressed the lack of a father in the home and the lack of values the kids are raised with. I can honestly say, it is the only time in his entire presidency that I heard something of value and common sense come out of his mouth. Just want to give credit where credit is due. Whew, that was tough but I am sure I will not need to do it again during this term…

So if a fence was placed around Chicago to keep anyone from leaving or entering, would there still be people murdering others? I’m thinking YES! The problem with “gun crimes” in Chicago has nothing to do with outer communities who have guns. The problem lies with the community of Chicago and it’s inability to allow law abiding citizens to be armed to defend themselves from the criminals that run that city. Arm the law abiding and we’ll see the crime in Chicago decline.

You have to have common sense first. 443 murders in Chicago alone, the problem isn’t guns, its gangs, drugs, sex. Its about people who have given up on life,and dreams of any future. You have to reach the people Mr. Boy king president. You have to really care about your people, black white yellow brown red, what ever. You consistently talk the talk, but never able to walk the walk. You flaunt the office that you hold, and never let anyone forget it. You abuse the office and the respect that comes with it.   Disagree. The problem is failure to use capital punishment. Start executing these thugs and the crime rate will drop. But then that opens the other problem: weak people who don’t like capital punishment, corrupt judges that are afraid to sentence, judicial system that cares more the criminal than the victim, and the fact our society is in rapidly, accelerating degeneracy!!

Well I suggest we strip every one, cops included of guns. Then we know there is not a single gun on the streets. Once the cops give up there guns the Criminals will see the effort and will no doubt lay down there arms. Then the drugs will dry up because Rahm wants them to and skittles will fall from the sky, chocolate will rain down and all will be merry. Gutfeld will ride in on a Unicorn and declare Chicago cleansed.

  Save a lot of trouble. Leave a few cases of overloaded ammo on the streets. When the guns blow apart in their hands, it will eliminate the criminal and the weapon. That works by getting rid of the criminal and preventing anyone else from using the same gun to commit any other crime. THEN run a trade in for all of the gang bangers, no questions asked.

  Chi-town had roughly 500 killed last year but thousands only wounded that the tax payer gets to pay for, for life. Crates of AK’s are fine, but someone needs to step up and teach also. Non shooting thugs and punks. Yo. Where is the inner city NRA with impeccable instructors? We need a HUD safety officer to get off his but and teach these thugs. Instead of controlling all of the law-abiding citizens; how about dealing with the un-glamorous social decay that is the root of the violence? Ya know – no jobs, fecal matter indoctrination (aka education) , and broken down family units – no daddies @ home….

Also barry the USA is 114 down on the gun violence list according the the world health organization; which implies that in the bigger picture gun violence is NOT a problem here in the USA……relatively speaking.

Isnt it a lie that less strict gun control laws in surrounding states undermine Chicagos draconian gun laws? I know for a fact that Marylanders cant buy guns in my states gunshops,as I’ve personally seen them turned away when the gunshop owners told them that they could not sell firearms to out of state residents.

How exactly is keeping law abiding citizens from owning guns going to to this?
It makes as much sense as saying to reduce drunk driviving we are going to keep sober people from buying cars!

  Nothing makes it harder for criminals to get their hands on guns. The focus should be on making harder for criminals to breath by poking holes in them with guns.
  Gun violence is a symptom, the current state of society is the disease. Treating the symptoms will do NOTHING to cure the disease.
