Georgia Teacher Suspended After Pretending to Shoot 1st Graders to Teach Them About Newtown
A Georgia teacher was suspended after he pretended to shoot first-graders to teach them about the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
The teacher at Odyssey School in Newnan, Ga., identified as Mariano Pacetti, was playing a kind of hide-and-seek game where he encouraged students to hide while he pretended to be a gunman, the Newnan Times-Herald reported. He formed a gun with his fingers and pointed to one boy and said, “Bang you’re dead.”
School director Andy Geeter told the newspaper Pacetti “exercised poor judgement” in the activity, which some parents said gave their children nightmares, according to WAGA-TV. Twenty first-grade students and six adults were killed when a gunman shot his way into the school in Newtown, Conn. and opened fire before killing himself in December.
Pacetti is a middle school band instructor who was substitute teaching a first-grade physical education class. Letters went home to parents about the incident, and Pacetti, described as one of the school’s most popular teachers, was suspended and ordered to undergo professional training, WAGA reported.
“It was an administrative decision made by me after conversations with the parents, classroom teacher and Mr. Pacetti as well as consultation with our head of school. He is now back at work,” Geeter said in an email to the Huffington Post.
The school offered the students counseling, though none accepted the offer.
“There are things that you can and can’t do, and it shows, if nothing else, that you just can’t do security off the cuff. You have to train and prepare for it,” Geeter told WAGA.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. I got my first cap and pistol cowboy outfit when I was five years old. Played cops and robbers until I matured. Some kids never age and play paintball. Look how warped and maimed mentally they are. Tsk Tsk.

That if we smoked it we would see skeletons chasing us and would jump off of tall buildings thinking we could fly!

I remember seeing the film Reefer Madness. I’m not sure if it was shown in school or where I saw it. The film had one scene that showed a stoned kid drinking something from a broken glass bottle and blood was running down his face.

Changing the Country is being done within EVERY school, to EVERY child. How many times did Oby speak at schools and told the kids to go home and ‘challenge and encourage’ parents to vote for him. Many friends outright tell my wife and I that we are being ‘selfish’ for not having children. WHAT!? I guess it’s better to subject kids to two or three different sets of values (home / family, school / political, church / political), then just beat the hell out of them when they’re so confused they don’t know what to do.
To completely use the school setting in order to shape minds for a political and global agenda is something that is made for science fiction stories. Yet the schools have been on the top of Obys brainwashing agenda since day one and most parents don’t have a clue. Just wait until it’s your kid who truly believes that Michelle and Oby are his “mom and dad”, and ‘challenges’ you to give him a third term. The schools that have anthems to Oby that the children sing over and over are changing the setting of him from being a simple President to a DEITY. And HE KNOWS THIS!
Read / study about “Hitlers Youth”. There is a ton of information that will open your eyes. Oby is not moving quickly, but rather slowly indoctrinating two generations of young people who will embrace him as their true leader and father. Hell, he’s already got Chris Rock and Hollywood.

The one and ONLY answer to these ghastly situations is to home school any way you possible can.
It’s possible to teach kids what they learn in public schools from 3rd to the 8th grade in about a year and a half. The rest of the time spent there is a waste.

Sorry public school teachers. Nothing against you but the place you work is failing. It isn’t your fault.
As far as this guy goes this lesson was a bad judgement on his part. Not because it was a bad judgement to teach kids there are simple things they can do to protect themselves in a threatening situation but because anything like this should have been cleared with the school administration. The first lesson in modern America survival? Cover your a$%. Lota lawyers out there and they are armed with tons of red tape and resource wasting bs.

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 10:42amExactly what I was thinking. in fact here is the draft I was about to post.
In 1st grade there are plenty of fundamentals those children should be learning that take precedence over recent events, and that is what the teacher should be focusing on.
However if the subject of any shooting was brought up by a student, then as an adult explain it to them in a calm and respectfull way that they will understand. This allows them to process the information understanding what happened and why it was wrong for it to happen. Only after that can a organized drill be conducted (not some hide and seek, bang your dead type of thing).

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 1:42pmActually I disagree, I think it IS important teachers bring up NEWTOWN. I think if you never have a plan – since obviously the government isn’t going to protect you – the cops wont get there in time, then as a teacher you better have a plan. My wife runs a school. The practice fire drills having everyone learn how to orderly but quickly get out, assemble and account for every person. They practice bomb threat in a similar fashion but with the assembly area further from the school. And they practice LOCKDOWN drills as well. You have to be able to tell the kids why your doing something, and what the results will be if you don’t do it right. They tell the kids they will die and burn in a fire if they don’t follow instructions. Why not illustrate how they will be victims if they don’t take the right actions. Do you want your child’s first lockdown to be a time they giggle and squirm and don’t take it seriously? Isn’t Newtown the RIGHT reason for teachers to be having these discussions? Further, they are reasons we should be taking the right actions to DEFEND our schools and our children. I am NOT for gun control unless your talking about Aim, breathe, squeeze, repeat.

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 9:49amDon’t you think this insipid overreacting about any reference, from a child in Kindergarten pointing his finger to older kids playing cops & robbers, to a gun has gotten to the point that “adults” need to step in and stop it? I mean seriously. From the time I was old enough to start playing I had a toy gun. As I grew up through the years I progressed from fake toy guns, to cap guns, water guns, BB guns, pellet rifles, Co2 powered BB & pellet guns, .22 rim fire guns, shot guns, 30-06, .45 handgun, and many others. All of my friends that I grew up with as well as most other kids that I went to school with had guns. I am 50 years old now and in all those years I have never heard of one instance where any of my friends or school mates ever took a gun and went on a shooting spree. The statistics bear out the truth & it turns out that guns are not the issue. It seems that those most responsible for an atmosphere in which gun violence occurs is the very same people fighting the hardest to have my guns taken away. I’m not talking about the government, they have a different agenda and are only capitalizing on recent tragedies as a means that agenda to came to fruition. Who I am talking about is the liberal, especially the liberal that makes millions of dollars in Hollowwood making films to sell to young people glorifying gun violence. I wonder just how many of them would stop making those films if it resulted in a substantial salary drop. Then their is the dirty

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 10:17amYour right on point here! So what’s changed between back then when we all grew up in a different world? When is it not ok to let Kids be kids any more? Kids live in the fantasy world, it’s part of their growing up to fantasize their tv heroes, we all did it!
What’s at play here is the Progressive’s agenda, they know we adults would never give up our guns with an out right ban on fire arms, they know there would be civil war in this country if they went on with legislating gun confiscations! So their path to this utopia is to indoctrinate our kids at the youngest age possible, making them fear the Gun in the way they see all fire arms, as deadly weapons that don’t need to exist in a civil society. It’s obvious they’ve gone over board, but they don’t care since they man most city, state and federal governments. So what appears like BS to us is only their actual beliefs. This will not change until we actively change those in power that dictate what the policy is, it has to take place at every level if we are to succeed. Until then expect a generation of Kids that are extremely fearful of all guns, even toy guns. Expect the left to start banning toy guns next…..

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 9:38amAs scary as those “Drop and Cover” drills were, they were a part of an actual designed class. Nothing impromptu about them like Mr. Pacetti did. As I recall those classes in my early years of school, and I started in the late ’50s. We watched films, followed by the teacher or a guest teacher giving a class following an established lesson plan. Each class ended with a discussion where the teacher tried his/her best to answer questions from the students. Pacetti has an agenda that is well established in the left. He took advantage of his captive audience in a Physical Ed class to build Hoplophobia into the everyday lives of the children. He is doing his best to develop that irrational fear of guns and as Rush says, filling those heads full of mush. I for one am glad to read that he was suspended, and since he is in the south and there are still some sane people in the are regarding this subject, I hope that he is dismissed.

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 10:22amOLDSURFRAT, LOL, in the early days when we had more discretion allowed, I would more likely have taken into consideration a variety of things such as the demeanor of the youth, quick NCIC background check for priors, plus the amount of product discovered. More likely I would have turned that youth over to his parents along with a detailed explanation along with showing them what had been discovered as well as a peek at the small Becton-Dickinson marijuana test kit and how it had turned color to a deep purple. I was never without a heart, and my feelings were it would be better to let the parents deal with it rather than putting them into a financial horror of entering the courts system. At the same time I would have taken into consideration the parental reaction before I made my final decision. Naturally, the “product” would have been turned in as contraband, and every detail of the event would have been recorded in notebook. If there was a repeat offense, the results would end differently. I was never without heart, common sense, and an understanding that we used to be real families. Think about it now, who would you have rather faced first back then? Your father, or an arraignment judge? Frankly, going into the court system would have very likely had your family on your side, while having to face your parents would have a better effect of keeping it from happening again.

Do you have the air-raid drills? We did once a month at 11am with a loud siren on top of a 20 foot pole.

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 10:52amWhen I was in high school we once did a super TP job on the school that we were playing for our home coming game.
While in the middle of what we considered a true work of art the whole place lit up like the sun had suddenly risen. Next we hear this loud voice from the sky saying sheriffs office DON’T MOVE!! Apperntly they thought we were the group doing B&Es to the local schools and were sure they had the guys.
Anyway 12 teenagers went 12 different ways.
I was on the roof of the building and could see the ground units chasing the runners so opportunity arose and I jumped. My buddy had made it to his car so I hopped in and off we went with head lights off.
“Man we did it we got away. Those poor other suckers”
Well about 3 blocks latter the whole world lit up again and we had red & blues in front of us and behind us.
We pulled over and were greeted to many weapons drawn (rightfully so) They made us get against the wall of a store (get those legs further apart, Further!!!)
I was cuffed grabbed by the shirt and the seat of my pants and thrown in the back of one of the cars, face down with my pants up my crack and the smell of dog **** on my shirt that I had landed in when I jumped.
Any way I sat up in time to watch them searching the car. Please don’t look under that seat, please, please! Oh crap they looked.
Out came a bag of pot and a bong. I will never forget seeing the cop put it back under th seat and close the door. “Surely we are doomed. My dads gon

Well they figured it all out, took us back to the school and made us clean up while waiting for our parents to come and get us.
You know NOTHING was ever said about the pot and it was there the next morning when my buddy went out to his care.
I got a real eye opener that night about most cops being good people and started calling them Officer from that point forward.

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 11:22amHi MONK, yes we did and I had intended to mention those noisy things. They went off at various times and if it occurred while we were in school, we were expected to comply with the drill. Also, a teacher and I even recall the principle stepping inside the doorway would shout “Drop and cover.” And, we were expected to comply rapidly. Frankly, it was a diversion from what was usually a dull, dry class. So, we often didn’t mind.
OLDSURFRAT, LOL, speaking of TPing the opposing school ground, I recall doing the same thing. We used to stop by a local market before the game, then afterwards run a chicken up their flagpole if it was an away game.

As an ex-cop from AL you may love the last part the most.
When the officer that had the car got in he was this huge good old boy. Keep in mind I was a surf rat.
He got in and looks back “WTH do I smell??? “BOY you $h-it yourself or something?”
“Listen here boy xxxxxxxx high school is my alma mater. Did you know that??”
At that time I still did not know that we were headed back to the school and had all kinds of pictures in my head of him taking down some dirt road and beating the snot out of me.
Was never so glad to see the other police cars and some of my buddies cleaning up all that TP.

If they could get the Children “marked” as having a mental issue with pot they would.
We have an entire generation that has been falsely “marked” and will be banned from owing guns.

You know you’ll always remain in my heart
Goodnight, sleep tight, and pleasant dreams to you
Here’s a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now ’til we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 8:41am“…which some parents said gave their children nightmares”
So, we should not teach children about the reality of life because the children might get nightmares? I mean, I have never met an adult that never had nightmares at all when they were children. Nightmares are a part of childhood.
The inference is obvious: the children should spend their childhood in first grade and beyond in “fluffy pillow” land. They should never be taught about anything other than bunny rabbits and Candyland.
