Mother Aydrea Meaders Striptease Ends Albany School Assembly

Authorities are still unsure why Albany mother Aydrea Meaders decided to take off her clothes during a school assembly, but she is reportedly facing child endangerment and lewdness charges.

“It had been going as a terrific event. The cafeteria was full. We probably had about 200 students in there from throughout the school,” Ron Lesko of the Albany School District began.

Then, for some reason, Meaders decided to join the children who were dancing onstage.

“[It] wasn’t an expected part of the routine, but she wasn’t doing anything inappropriate,” Lesko continued. “[Then] suddenly she stepped to the front of the group, threw off her coat, and stripped from the waist up.”

School officials and parents rushed the stage within seconds, reports indicate, attempting to shield the children from the sight.

Lesko and many others say they were bewildered by the sudden turn of events.  Apparently, the 24-year-old mother had been acting like a perfectly sane individual before she decided to strip.

“No behavior that anyone encountered in the course of the assembly” indicated that she was about to expose herself in front of a group of children, Lesko said.  “And she spent a fair amount of time during the assembly talking to the principal, and they were having a perfectly normal conversation.”

Albany police say Meaders was arrested Friday morning, and has been charged with seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of public lewdness.

An Albany City Court clerk says Meaders was arraigned Friday afternoon and ordered held on $3,000 bail. She doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

The North Albany Academy is a prekindergarten through eighth grade school in the Albany district.
