(TheBlaze/AP) — Cuba apparently experienced a phenomenon similar to but smaller than the meteorite that detonated over Russia this week, island media reported, with startled residents describing a bright light in the sky and a loud explosion that shook windows and walls.
There were no reports of any injuries or damage such as those caused by the Russia meteorite, which sent out shockwaves that hurt some 1,200 people and shattered countless windows.
In a video from a state TV newscast posted on the website CubaSi late Friday, unidentified residents of the central city of Rodas, near Cienfuegos, said the explosion was impressive.
“On Tuesday we left home to fish around five in the afternoon, and around 8:00 we saw a light in the heavens and then a big ball of fire, bigger than the sun,” one local man said in the video.
“My home shook completely,” said a woman. “I had never heard such a strange thing.”

n this frame grab made from a video done with a dashboard camera, on a highway from Kostanai, Kazakhstan, to Chelyabinsk region, Russia, provided by Nasha Gazeta newspaper, on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 a meteorite contrail is seen. (Photo: AP)
Marcos Rodriguez, whom the video identified as a specialist in anthropology, said all signs point to a meteorite.
According to scientists, five to 10 smaller meteorites hit the planet each year. Larger events like the one over Russia are more rare, and some experts said it may have been the biggest such blast since another meteor hit Siberia in 1908.
Also Friday, residents of the San Francisco Bay Area reported seeing a fireball in the sky that scientists said was likely a piece of space rock. Another meteor in the same area last October caused a loud sonic boom.
In Cuba, a reporter on the video said a similar phenomenon was observed in 1994 elsewhere in Cienfuegos province.
It said Cuban authorities were looking for any fragments that may have fallen to the earth.
Here is the CubaSi report, though it is entirely in Spanish:

Feb. 17, 2013 at 7:38amOne over Russia, one over Cuba, a blue fireball over San Francisco…People better wake up and take notice that there may be a Creator who is sending a message. Keep looking to the skies. There should be other signs coming too if my notion is is correct. Love God and love your neighbor…These are the two greatest orders issued to mankind. We are now living in the time of Tribulation.

Feb. 17, 2013 at 9:02amActually to be saved and have eternal life one must believe in Jesus Christ and accept him as their Lord and Savior. Just loving God and your neighbor is not what it takes.
For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that who so ever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Jesus said to them, “I am the way the truth and the life, no man commeth unto the Father accept through Me.” John 4:6
You must believe in Jesus.

Feb. 17, 2013 at 1:34amThe sun revolves around it’s own GIANT elliptical. When the sun is on one side of the elliptical our poles of our galaxy are reversed than when it’s on the opposite side, which could explain why our magnetic poles change on Earth. The Mayans were aware of this and based their own “new year” on this marked by an debris belt.. December 21st was their way of saying when the sun completed it’s own elliptical. Our new year is based on the Earth’s full elliptical around the sun. It should be noted that while the Mayans may have possibly been more accurate, pagan religions also had the same concept for thousands of years, hence the concept of ages.
The question is, why has this knowledge been lost? Many will say mankind has lost this knowledge because of wars, but who’s to say the reason the knowledge of past societies is lost due to something more natural, like systematically passing through a space junk field every few thousand years…and suffering such a catastrophe where we are not wiped out to extinction, but modern technology and thought is forgotten for new ways of dealing with the changing world.

Feb. 17, 2013 at 1:58amIt is the same concept of the genius that does not have street smarts. He may know reasoning in a scientific view but say cannot explain something as simple as having Biblical faith. Just having faith in something is not explainable to them.

Feb. 17, 2013 at 2:15amAll that said, who’s to say we’re not in a shooting war? I mean, we see the fireballs, and we’re being told it’s meteors. We don’t know for a fact they are meteors, but we have faith in those telling us these are in fact meteors. Project Blue Beam could also explain this. A new weapon that’s been deployed that has a shell casing that burns up in the atmosphere. Perhaps this is a response to recent Russian and Chinese agitations.
Sun Tzu said that if a shooting was is necessary it’s best to make another nation out to be your pansy if you can. Better to make your pansy some thing that can’t hold a grudge, like a rock from space.
I’m in a postulating mood tonight…

Feb. 17, 2013 at 9:26amOpen a science book pal. It takes about 250 million years for our solar system to orbit the Galaxy, The Mayans civilization existed for about 5000 years. They would have had NO idea about magnetic field shifts (which are in no way connected to the solar systems orbit of the galaxy) This knowledge was never lost, because they didn’t have it, neither did the Egyptians, the Greeks, nor the Romans. It wasn’t until 1610 the Galileo confirmed that the milky way was indeed other stars, and very far away ones at that. It wasn’t until 1930 that our current knowledge of the galaxy was understood. If you are not a creationist then you believe that humankind has been on this earth for 250.000 years. Which means if you do the math, you will realize that our Solar System has moved very little in it’s orbit since man has been here to see it. (A miniscule, tiny, short little jaunt in the vastness of space. In all of human history we have never orbited the galaxy, and none of us alive today will ever see its orbit completed.) So no, your statement about the Mayans Solar Galactic orbit is simply not true. Sorry.

Feb. 17, 2013 at 9:31amWe have never been in this area of space in the entire span of human existence. It takes 250 million years for our solar system to orbit the Galaxy. We have been around for 250 thousand or so, (if you are not a creationist) you do the math.

Feb. 17, 2013 at 12:30amMeteorites? Could very well be. But there are some very strange coincidences and some very strange dove-tails to some other things going on… things that were anticipated and felt to be imminent within the last month. So, we’ll see. As an analyst you are trained that there are no such things as coincidence until such are proven beyond a doubt. And most seeming coincidences aren’t.
