AP Retracts Rand Paul Story After Reporting the Opposite of What He Actually Said

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) speaks at the March for Life on January 25, 2013 in Washington, DC. (Photo: Getty Images)
The Associated Press retracted a story Sunday after wildly misreporting a quote by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY).
The article, which can still be seen on many of the sites that utilize the Associated Press, began: “WASHINGTON — A Republican senator says he sees some in his party favoring a 2016 presidential candidate with an immigration policy that would ’round people up … and send them back to Mexico.’”
The retraction notice explains:
The Associated Press has withdrawn its story about Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., saying he sees some in the his party favoring a 2016 presidential candidate with an immigration policy that would “round up people … and send them back to Mexico.”Β That quote was in the transcript of “Fox News Sunday” that was distributed after Paul’s interview on the show.Β A subsequent Associated Press review of an audio recording of the show determined that the transcript had dropped the word “don’t” from that quote, and Paul actually said, “They don’t want somebody who wants to round people up, put them in camps and send them back to Mexico.” Β β[All emphasis added]
Newsbusters’ Noel Sheppard noted that while the FoxNews transcript βdid inaccurately record Paul’s comments, “shouldn’t it be someone’s responsibility at the nation’s leading wire service to crosscheck the accuracy of such transcripts especially given the disclaimer at the top of the page [that it is a rush transcription]?”
Many news agencies, including TheBlaze, utilize the Associated Press as a wire service to provide extra content for readers.Β Such stories are often automatically published, so the story was likely seen by countless viewers across left and right-leaning websites.

Politico’s Dylan Byers concluded by calling it the “retraction of the year.”
Here’s video of Paul’s remarks, which TheBlaze posted earlier today:

stories like this on a regular basis. Painting conservative politicians as pedophiles or accusing them of engaging in necrophilia will be commonplace.
But, stories about Dems who travel to Costa Rica to engage in sex with underage prostitutes will fall off the radar. Much like the all-too-true story of driving while blind drunk and killing a female staffer, drowning her, and simply walking away from the whole mess to become the “Lion of the Senate.”

Here’s a FACT!! The establishment is deathly afraid of Rand Paul and libertarians in general. He will run in 2016, he will win and transform the Republican party. He will win the youth vote with freedom and promote prosperity with responsible, “GTFO of my way” pro SMALL business policy and strong constitutional governance. Want real reform in Washington? Return the power to the states & move representative offices back to their respective states.. Representatives only go to Washington to VOTE during session. This will also curtail lobbying. Rand will do that..

Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:50amI only read a couple of posts here that actually stated the obvious. Most of us are arguing the “don’t” statement without considering the fact that they are ILLEGALS. Eisenhower did it in the 50′s. not that it was wrong, but necessary. We are being led as sheep. There really isn’t any elected officials that stand by the common sense rule of law that we are a sovereign nation with absolute borders. I am a Spaniard (hispanic/Latino blah blah) and see the results of this free border crap up close. You know this country will eventually drop the southern and northern borders. Are we too stupid to see that?

Posted on February 18, 2013 at 2:29pm@Ridemodels… no Politicians want illegal aliens so they can have voters who will vote for their policies and help destroy the US Constitution and the rest of freedom. You see, real Americans want to be free and do not want government help to be successful. We have been taught if you work hard you will succeed. 99% of Illegals come from poor parts of countries like Mexico, China Central and South America where they had nothing, when they arrived in the US they got education, college, welfare, food stamps, SSI, tax rebates all for doing nothing. SO they believe the American dream is to be handed to them and they dont have to work for it. Our immigration system does not need to be fixed, the current Immigration and Nationality Act just needs to be enforced. All the tools are in under Sec 212, 237 and 235 and 287. Your Border Patrol agents and ICE agents are being told not to do their jobs or they will be fired. They are only allowed to arrest aliens found near the border, once they get past a certain distance they are “safe”. And this is wrong. real Americans are being replaced in order to destroy American and this is being done intentionally by the fool in the white house and the US Congress! Also in 1953, The US did Operation Wet Back and sent millions back to Mexico to free up jobs for Americans. It worked. But today they want dumbed downed Americans they can control who suck off of the gov handouts while illegals work in the jobs. Welfare is Americas death row!

Japanese American internment was the relocation and internment by the United States government in 1942 of about 110,000 Japanese Americans and Japanese who lived along the Pacific coast of the United States to camps called “War Relocation Camps,” in the wake of Imperial Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor.[2][3] The internment of Japanese Americans was applied unequally throughout the United States. All who lived on the West Coast of the United States were interned, while in Hawaii, where the 150,000-plus Japanese Americans composed over one-third of the population, an estimated 1,200[4] to 1,800 were interned.[5] Of those interned, 62% were American citizens.[6][7]
President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorized the internment with Executive Order 9066, issued February 19, 1942, which allowed local military commanders to designate “military areas” as “exclusion zones,” from which “any or all persons may be excluded.” This power was used to declare that all people of Japanese ancestry were excluded from the entire Pacific coast, including all of California and much of Oregon, Washington and Arizona, except for those in internment camps.[8] In 1944, the Sup
