Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) have been vocal in their opposition to the nomination of Chuck Hagel to be the next secretary of defense. (AP)
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday conceded that President Barack Obama’s pick for secretary of defense will likely be confirmed, despite a last-ditch effort by Republicans to block him.
McCain was one of former Sen. Chuck Hagel’s sharpest questioners during his confirmation hearing last month and has gone on record opposing him for the Pentagon’s top job.
“I’m confident that Sen. Hagel will probably have the votes necessary to be confirmed as secretary of defense,” McCain said on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
Senate Republicans blocked Hagel’s nomination on Thursday, demanding another week and a half to examine his records and also more information from the White House on the terror attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
McCain predicted the vote on his fellow Vietnam veteran would come through when the Senate returns from recess.
“I think it’s a reasonable amount of time to have questions answered,” he said.
The Obama administration has publicly dismissed the notion that the delay would hamper Hagel’s ability to do the job effectively.
“No, he’s not going to be a weaker defense secretary,” new White House chief of staff Denis McDonough told NBC. “He’s going to be a great defense secretary.”

Hagel openly accused the our Congressmen of pandering to the “Jewish lobby” and when confronted by the very people whose names he had smeared he was unable to provide one ounce of support for his arguments. They asked him point blank to name one thing that Congress had been intimidated into doing and he had no answer. In fact, he rarely could answer any question posed to him and couldn’t even explain what our country’s positions are. What better example of blatant incompetence do you need? Or is it you whose allowed your feelings to Israel to blind you to everything else that’s wrong about this appointment?
We have enough incompetent people in leadership without Hagel.

Your first link proves nothing other than the US opposed the resolutions. You can’t just decide why that was the case without something to prove it. You started with the assumption that Israel controls the US and look for instances that might demonstrate the effect of that control. That’s not proof, that’s pure speculation.
Meanwhile, your second source only proves that Israel wouldn’t complain if Saddam Hussein’s regime was overthrown. Nowhere does it say we invaded Iraq for that reason. One again, pure speculation and no facts to support it. That really is your theme.

John Kerry and Chuck Hagel are equally “anti-military” from the republican perspective. John Kerry is more liberal. The only other difference is that Chuck Hagel basically does not want to treat Israel like an entitlement. What are the voting results?……John Kerry was approved in a landslide while Chuck Hagel receives the republican senate block…..That means either the republicans in the senate prefer liberal candidates or else they care about Israel more than anything else

Not that such behavior will ever disqualify him from serving in this administration.
Sen. Hagel made statements about the Israeli lobbyist bribing the Senate successfully. Wow who would ever think that could happen?
But when required under oath to explain his accusations, he couldn’t. So he lied when making the statements, or is lying to the hearing because of fear of exposing the underbelly of our Senate. But the fact is Hagel is NOT an honest man, not that it matters in today’s Washington DC.

She is now a laughingstock; resigned from office, deposed at even FOX, reduced to punchlines and twitter accounts. Don’t blame the media, as there is never a need to mis-quote her to make her appear a fool. Conservatives that think she’s bright enough to teach the sixth grade should never again wonder why voters don’t trust them anymore. McCain warns supporters, calls Obama decent man
October 10, 2008 06:17 PM
McCain was booed at a town-hall meeting here when he rebuked a man who said he was “scared…to bring a child up” under an Obama presidency. “I have to tell you he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States,” McCain said to audible disapproval.
The man was one of nine who appealed to McCain to confront Obama more forcefully, several of them raising specific controversies dominating news, including Obama’s relationships with Bill Ayers and the group ACORN. McCain seized the microphone from the hands of a woman who called Obama “an Arab,” and scolded her. “He’s a decent family man that I happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues,” McCain said, to scant approval.

McCain’s bravery is decades in the past. He may or may not be the same person. A person can be physically brave but years later not so brave when their career & livelihood is on the line (or they think it is). That McCain refused special treatment is laudable. That is as far as it goes.
I have much disregard for McCain in the 2007 push for amnesty. The reason that won;t go away is that they will promise border enforcement but they won’t deliver. They did not do so in 1986. Was it mentioned in 2007? Big Sissy, Napolitano said the the electronic wall was not feasible. She scrapped the project. They replace it with what?
I think a doable goal for border enforcement would be 30,000 people crossing in a year versus the 300,000 in a year. Personally I am not asking for perfection. It is unreasonable to ask for perfection overnight. But the damn@ble politicians & bureaucrats lie about border enforcement the same as they do with the economy. They claim that illegal border crossings are down due to their efforts. More like they are down due to a bad economy.
McCain also has the Keating 5 baggage. His wife owns a beer distributorship. Does McCain need money that badly? The other 4 Keating pols were Democrats. It still makes McCain look like a coward. He is afraid of his financial future & so willing to break the law. Either that or he is greedy or dumb. Take you pick.
I’ll let Meteors stick up for John Glenn& the other Keating criminals.

It enables the few to control the many by requiring strict adherence, it victimizes its own people. Its goal is the expand throughout America and the world through infiltrating tolerant cultures. It has infiltrated the US in a “cultural” jihad, sneaking in under the veil of multiculturalism. It is a fallacy to believe that all cultures are equal, they are not. Islam destroys every nation it can get into. It is incompatible with the Constitution.

All religions have had to adapt to their societies; there was a time not so long ago when it was considered wrong for Christians to lend money with interest, but they found a way around that. There are a good number of Islamic reformers attempting to find a balance between the modern world and religious traditions and we would be much better off promoting their work instead of declaring war on an entire faith. The president can then weight his decisions based on the council and options given to him.
Choosing Hagel for Secretaty of Defense is reckless and irresponsible. Hagel’s Vietnam experience has made him hate the military option. Therefore he will not only never recommend it, he will actively sabotage it at the Pentagon level. So when Barry ask for miltary options, Hagel will be able to comfortabley say. “It’s not an option Mr. President.”

Feb. 17, 2013 at 11:02amFREEBERTY. Funny thing… Many of Ron Paul’s former cheerleaders are pro-Hagel. You are pretty much in the fringe camp if I remember right, so I assume you don’t agree with the Rand bashing from the fringe right over supposedly going “demogogic” over Hagel and calling Rand a traitor on many levels including this?

Feb. 17, 2013 at 11:28amFREEBERTY. So you’re not in the camp that has called Rand Paul… Bill Kristol and Rubin’s boy?” Just trying to find out where you’re coming from based on past comments between the two of us on Ron Paul and Israel topics.

Feb. 17, 2013 at 11:35amBARBER2. What’s up? Definately USER is a cop car crapper.
Not so sure about FREEBERTY. Trying to remember past conversations. If my memory serves me right… he’s an old Ron Paul supporter which puts him standing next to USER who is crapping on the cop car and cheering on his method as freedom of speech and liberty, lol. I could be wrong though…
