John McCain: Chuck Hagel ‘Will Probably Have the Votes Necessary to Be Confirmed’

Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) have been vocal in their opposition to the nomination of Chuck Hagel to be the next secretary of defense. (AP)
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday conceded that President Barack Obama’s pick for secretary of defense will likely be confirmed, despite a last-ditch effort by Republicans to block him.
McCain was one of former Sen. Chuck Hagel’s sharpest questioners during his confirmation hearing last month and has gone on record opposing him for the Pentagon’s top job.
“I’m confident that Sen. Hagel will probably have the votes necessary to be confirmed as secretary of defense,” McCain said on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
Senate Republicans blocked Hagel’s nomination on Thursday, demanding another week and a half to examine his records and also more information from the White House on the terror attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
McCain predicted the vote on his fellow Vietnam veteran would come through when the Senate returns from recess.
“I think it’s a reasonable amount of time to have questions answered,” he said.
The Obama administration has publicly dismissed the notion that the delay would hamper Hagel’s ability to do the job effectively.
“No, he’s not going to be a weaker defense secretary,” new White House chief of staff Denis McDonough told NBC. “He’s going to be a great defense secretary.”

Posted on February 17, 2013 at 1:21pmThe constitution needs to have the senate duties revised from “advice & consent” to “politely question & rubber stamp”. If Hagel the blathering idiot can get in becuase that’s who the president wants than why bother with the “process”. Just one more job the senate DOESN’T do anymore (like that pesky budget thing)…

Posted on February 17, 2013 at 1:08pmObama is an alinsky radical. Is that not reason enough to oppose everything he wants? WE elected non- alinky radicals across the Nation TO OPPOSE ALINSKY RADICALISM
Obama was elected by fraud alone, and we are to act like he got elected legitimately? America does not want what obama is selling. If they did — OBAMA WOULD HAVE RAN A CAMPAIGN ON IT. HE DIDN’T!
Elections PLATFORMS (or non- platforms) have consequences!

Posted on February 17, 2013 at 12:48pmSenator McCain and Senator Graham should retire. At the very least, McCain should retire. And he should take his “Democrat Progressive” daughter with him, while he’s at it. He can’t even make a convincing case to his daughter for “Conservative” ideas? What does that tell you? I know what it tells me.)
I am tired of the bunch of them. I thank God for strong people like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan and Rand Paul, for example. They know how to articulate the Conservative viewpoint with a fresh vision. And the Right NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS effective articulation right NOW. I, too, don’t know what’s happening to the Republicans. It looks like they’re gone. No cojones – few to articulate effectively – invisible “strength”.
There are few I trust at all anymore. Glenn advises us to be ready. Glenn is right. SO COMPLETELY RIGHT about what he says regarding readiness. Now, if my husband could only find a job………

Posted on February 17, 2013 at 12:34pmDuring the 1973 Yom Kippur war, spiritual messengers of God warned, October 9, 1973, what we still may need to know: “Beware — should the Eagle [U.S.A.] not spread its wings and give [Israel] protection, then the Anti-Christ shall reign upon the earth, and the time of famine shall be upon your doorsteps. We have prepared that, as we have said before, to give you warning before each of these that should happen. But the nation of Israel shall stand, and the nation of the eagle shall stand, for they stand before God. And where once before the eagle nation [Rome] destroyed and scattered among the nations those of the servants of God, now the karmic action stands forth again. Therefore, place your minds in unisance.” https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzyT3fgGxb4-UzdESmFCZ29fMkE/edit?usp=sharing

You republicans keep rolling over on your backs with your legs in the air when you should be fighting tooth and nail against this hi-jack of America. No, you RINO’s can’t wait to get your bellies scratched after the entire Senate has their way with you. People, these folks have to go, non-negotiable.

Posted on February 17, 2013 at 12:25pmIt’s the same ole same ole with our one party system they all look out for their interests and not the peoples and it’s been that way for many many years. Lifetime politicians like McCain Graham and Hagel are an affront to the constitution and our founding fathers, they would be disgusted with the idea of lifetime politicians and of course Hagel is a bad choice but the one party system will confirm him,it’s in their best interest.

Posted on February 17, 2013 at 12:22pmHe will be confirmed! The communists have complete and total control of this country! I had dinner with Congressman Issa the other night, one of the best on the right, and he would not even acknowledge that Obama was a Marxist Communist meaning he is either clueless, which I don’t buy, or he is in denial or being politically correct under some type of duress. Folks, if you can’t identify the enemy, you can never defeat it! The left has so much power they are preventing our side from even calling a Marxist a Marxist! See Nate Spencer, Larry Bland, Lt Quarles Harris, Bill Gwatney to name a few examples and you will know what I mean. The main questions at dinner was, what do we do to stop what is happening and why is it happening? I gave them the answer, our side is afraid to speak the truth and our enemies overseas know it! When we stand up and call a spade a spade, then we will begin the very painful road to reclaiming our freedom, and O N L Y then!

Posted on February 17, 2013 at 11:43amMcCain jumped at the chance to support Nelson’s comments after Nelson/Fl tried to rebuke Ted Cruz for his questioning of Hagel. McCain’s friend, Graham also made disparaging remarks concerning Ted Cruz immediately after the session to a reporter.
What these 3 idiots do not realize is that Cruz is more intelligent and articulate, well researched than all 3 combined, he has a moral character which they lack and he is Conservative in his actions. McCain won’t be able to call T.E.A. Conservatives “hobbits” again, I bet, like he did after 2010 election.
