Which Major Tea Party Leader Does Karl Rove Want ‘More’ Of?

GOP strategist Karl Rove has drawn fire from conservative critics recently for his creation of the “Conservative Victory Project,” an organization devoted to stopping what Rove considers to be “unelectable” candidates from running for major public offices (the archetypal example being Rep. Todd Akin’s (R-MO) disastrous run against Senator Claire McCaskill). The announcement of the group’s existence has prompted many conservatives to vocally denounce Rove for trying to keep out promising anti-establishment candidates, citing such cases as Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

Yet to hear Rove himself tell it, those aren’t the people he means when he talks about “unelectable” candidates. Rather, his targets are people like Akin or 2010′s disastrous Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell. In fact, Rove seems to rather like at least one of the aforementioned Tea Party candidates.

And believe it or not, it’s not Rubio, who’s frequently cited as a favorite of both the Tea Party and the establishment. Rove made the statement about his preferred Tea Party candidate in a segment on Fox News Sunday today.

“I think Rand Paul had it right. We believe in markets,” Rove said in response to an accusation from journalist Bob Woodward that he was trying to create a Republican politburo. “The more we examine the quality of these candidates from top to bottom, the more likely we end up with fewer Christine O’Donnells and more Rand Pauls.”

Watch Rove admit his interesting choice of ideal Tea Partier below:

You know, when you let your house get so termite infested that the support beams can no longer support its weight, there is no amount of patching that can be done to fix it. It will have to be rebuilt. The question is when. You can wait for it to collapse down around you and hope you aren’t hurt when it happens; you can tear it down which is must faster, or just burn it down now and start the rebuilding process immediately. I’m going for the latter and voting for Democrats in 2014. Anything less is just prolonging the agony, and I’m done playing the game with Boehner and his merry band of Rove’s RINOcrats. If there is anything left of the country in 2016 we can go from there.

So you can’t find your own candidate to support? Really?!? You can’t find a Tea Party candidate whether they have a “REP” or “IND” after their name? If Rove and Boehner aren’t cutting it you have to vote Democrat? Wouldn’t voting for a Rand Paul or a Ted Cruz bring about your desired end. It will eventually burn down the establishment GOP while at the same time building a foundation for the party that will replace it. Voting for a Democrat will only ensure the on set of the next Dark Ages. There won’t be any pieces to pick up in 2016.

I think it would help the Republican party to just vote present for the next 2 years and lets see the Democrats put their money where their mouth is. Let the pass everything they want to pass and take all the blame. Then those people who have been voting for the Democrats might actually wake up and see what they are doing to them self.

Thomas, the problem is that the Democrats are VERY careful to insure that they don’t put their money where their mouth is (look at how they have exempted themselves and staffs from Social Security, Obamacare, and the insider trading laws) they put OUR money where their mouth is. They have spent us so far into debt since January 2007 when the Dems took control of both the House and Senate, that a budget cut of a trillion dollars won’t make a dent in the debt. Nothing short of firing tens of thousands of government employees and cutting welfare benefits to millions more will get the budget back on track. The twits in the government don’t even realize that keeping those extra employees on the payroll is actually damaging the economy by taking money out of the productive private sector and transferring it to the public sector. Saying that public sector employees pay taxes is like saying that money taken from one pocket and putting it in another makes you wealthier.

I know you guys are going to hate this but Carl is right on this.

We can’t have clueless people wasting our efforts to recover from this Progressive attack. We can not allow them to pick our candidates and that is exactly what we are allowing to happen by paying mind the media’s framing of our candidates. In Florida the Media painted Marco Rubio as a nut that wanted to take away medicare and social security. Thank God the Voters saw through that but how often does the media get away with picking our candidates? It is up to us to take back the system before it is to late.

I know Glenn has given up on the Republican party but that is exactly what the Progressives want. It will give them time, the time it will cost us to start a party to compete with the others, by the way dividing the Conservative vote. While that maybe what Glenn calls “just about winning” but if we don’t win they will.

I believe we must retake the party, it will be easier to fix the party that start a new one. We must purge the Progressive factions that are with in the party. Their is a difference between a moderate Conservative and a Progressive. And by screening the candidates as Carl says we can weed those out. While he may be doing it for other reasons, that does not mean it is a bad idea. We are better than that and we have better ideas than they do, it’s just a matter of finding the best of us and getting them to run. Not for political ambition but for patriotism and love of this Nation

So I usually vote for the RINO and just wait to see how it goes. The republican will not get the WH or the Senate and could loose the House because there is too much infighting.. Once the people choose someone the Republicans still hold a grudge. Until we stop this infighting we will remain a second rate party.

The Republican RINOs is my or the highway so THe Roves, Morris’s surface with their whiteboards and books and tell us how to vote. We did this for two elections and see what happened.

If you are a Conservative and you did not vote for Romney, with all that was at stake, why in the hell would anybody make an effort to win you over now. If you can not be counted on to turn out for Romney, who was a Conservative enough step in the right direction, then I understand why the GOP would decide to go for moderate voters.

This election was lost because the Evangelicals did not want to vote for a Mormon. I heard people call Rush, Sean and other shows saying they would not vote for him because of that. As a result I hope to see religious freedom trampled upon. They denied Romney his religious freedom, now Obama will deny them theirs. Elections have consequences, and unfortunately non-religious people like me will pay the price for their bigotry.

Who is behind of the rumor that they is infighting? the liberal news media? Let us question with boldness whether we are libertarians or Republicans. There are Libertarians who want abortion and drugs open for everyone’s choice. There are Republicans who have forgotten, it is not money that votes for a person but the people; and they people want to vote for freedom with common sense structure. We both believe in small government, free markets and justice. So now why are we talking about the fringe stuff? We the people have elected stupid people and given them power and money, that has to stop, I do not care how electable they are. I am tired!

Cain or Gingrich would have been a better choice.
Still not sure that the Reb party was not responsable for downing Cain.

I to voted for Romney but I was pissed the whole time.

      HSDO

The GOP chose a looser (McCain) to fight a looser (Obama) and the looser to McCain was Romney.
So now ask yourself why would you pick a looser to a looser who lost to a bigger looser and call him your new and improved winner.
Just does not add up. If that was the game plan for a team during a draft heads would roll.

Guys: avoid THEMONK who has hijacked THE -MONK ‘s name. This Troll sounds like the Wango/Dango or JUSTTIM one. Must be a new game from the Obama Organizing For Action Gang of anarchists… our hacker-wannabes…

      Mr or Ms BARBER2,

This is what you must know:

Let me get this straight. Someone hijacked someone else’s identity? That is just about the most cowardly thing I can imagine. Sure, I play for keeps, but I play fair, not like some third-grader. Isn’t that kind of activity against the rules of use here on The Blaze? If it’s not, it should be. I know I can count on stand-up fells like yourself to defend what’s right and point out any and all such transgressions.

Listen to BARBER2, people. He’s a wise and consistent man of genuine principle.

      It is so.

This is one of two things….1) He spoke his mind and people found out he’s not a conservative because he RAN to the middle so he’s back stroking, trying to look conservative or 2) He’s scared to death of Rand Paul, and knows the conservatives won’t like anyone he (Rove) endorses.

I’m not sure who Rove is advising these days, but i know who Marco Rubio and Rand Paul have as their advisers. They are both planning to run in 2016 even though Paul won’t admit to it lately. There was an article about his presidential aspirations right after Obama won his 2nd term. Both men have chosen advisers from outside of Washington. Both men have staunchly Conservative advisers leading them. It seems the new, young Republicans have learned and they have backed away from the establishment and their rules. Rove truly is a man on an island.

      I’m with ya there Soy.

If you have a crap team and loose every game you have nothing to loose by pulling the starting quarterback and putting in new blood that does not just keep running up the middle and throwing interceptions.
