After grabbing nearly every headline from mid-December through January, the talks on new gun control legislation have noticeably cooled off. Despite an animated portion of the president’s State of the Union address last week dedicated to calling on Congress to at least vote on many of the key points from his legislative proposal introduced last month for reducing gun violence, the issue is moving too slow on Capitol Hill for many gun control advocates.
Part of the delay or resistance to putting up a fight on the gun control issue could have to do with the legislative record and hypocritical actions of many members of the president’s own party. Eleven Senate Democrats have a grade of B or better from the National Rifle Association. Before criticizing those who suggested responsible conceal carry permit holders could have stopped Auroa, Colorado gunman James Holmes last year, leading gun control advocate Sen. Dianne Feinstein obtained a concealed carry permit for herself in California in 1995 when she felt her life was threatened.
Neil McCabe of Human Events joined “Willkow!” Monday to discuss how the rhetoric of Democratic officeholders compares to their voting record on gun-related issues, as well as what many in Hollywood say on gun violence in public as oppose to what is put up on the big screen.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 7:17amPerhaps if legislators were not allowed to have armed body guards, their tunes would change.
That also should apply to any member of any executive branch of government as well.
These people should have no better protection than the citizens they represent.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 8:49amVery True,
In fact this is the REAL HYPOCRISY by Democrats. Stating those with B rating by the NRA is absurd. Its NOT HYPOCRISY to vote consistent with your constituents’ beliefs…that is what they are ostensibly elected to do. But it is the HIGHEST FORM OF HYPOCRISY to deny LAW ABIDING CITIZENS the right of Self Defense by the most effective means possible.
I imagine some Troll is thinking, “But you aren’t already allowed to go buy actual automatic weapons or a rocket launcher” however I would argue they are not effective self defense weapons (they are offensive weapons as opposed to the putz of a police chiefs’ opinion).

Feb. 19, 2013 at 6:12amThe guy makes a good point. maybe we should have background checks before people are allowed to speak in public and folks should have to buy a permit in order to express their free-speech. That might work.

Feb. 18, 2013 at 11:33pmOnly the fed has lowered its voice in talking about gun control: Soros’ bevy of sukazz govenors and state legislators are taking up the slack in hopes that if ‘one state passes draconian laws, others will follow’. Consider Colorado, Missouri, New York, Minnesota, et al. And they’re right. Soon as one state passes Feinstein type legislation, others will be emboldened.
What these moron legislators are not considering is that all the people buying gus and ammo are not buying them so they can resell them to the police in buy-back programs for less than a tenth what they paid. Nor are they considering the very real unintended consequences that will result from banning and confiscating weapons from Free Thinking Americans. To forget that even if banned, my 30-06 still has a vote.
