Prince Georges County, Maryland Bans All Gun Shows Indefinitely

In a controversial decision sure to spark a contentious debate, a Maryland county has decided to ban all gun shows indefinitely while state and federal lawmakers consider gun control legislation.

The Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation announced the decision late last week. Officials also reportedly referenced the Newtown school massacre when making the decision.

Anita Pesses, a spokeswoman for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, says the moratorium is “temporary.”

“We are taking everybody’s opinions and actions into account,” she told WTOP.

But the decision will remain in effect until lawmakers in Washington and in Maryland are done debating new gun control laws.

Meanwhile, at least one gun show has been cancelled due to the ban on legal gun shows. The Silverado Gun Show was set to take place over the holiday weekend but was canned after the decision.

The show’s owner, Frank Krasner, told the Washington Examiner that he is losing money because of the decisions made by county officials.

“This is legal trade we’re talking about, not the black market,” he said. “This not only took money out of my pocket, but close to 100 exhibitors.”

“Once again, lawmakers choose to punish the innocent because of the actions of criminals,” commenter Brian Ford wrote on the Silverado Gun Show Facebook page. “Just plain stupid and unfair.” Others called for a boycott of the Show Place Arena.

“That’s a crock of sh*t,” another commenter stated bluntly.

  There are plenty of us East coasters who are gun rights advocates, members of the NRA and Oathkeepers. Have you looked into the site http://www.oathkeepers.org.
  
  You may want to separate NYC, DC, Boston and other bastions of liberalism from the rest of the East Coast. The folks are still out here upholding the constitution. As a matter of fact, there is a rather large, yellow with black letters, magnetic sign ( 14′ x 24″ ) on the tailgate of my Chevy pick-up. It gets plenty of thumbs up.

  Make sure you only go after the liberal progressive states on the east coast, where I live is still a place that supports the 2nd amendment.
  
  2nd amendment supporters in all liberal progressive states NEED TO MOVE TO OTHER STATES THAT SUPPORT THE 2ND AMMENDMENT. We know times are tough, but if you stay where you are they will get worse. Conservative states are doing better economically (not much), so even if you have to take a low paying job in a conservative state, GETTING OUT OF LIBERAL PROGRESSIVE INFESTED PLACES IS A BONUS.

  And the reason they referenced Newton is because they’re too dim-witted to understand that gun control would not have prevented the incident, which is typical of leftist radical politicians who can’t manage their own sorry lives, let alone somebody else’s.
  
  Too, they perceive their criminal conduct can’t ever be effectively challenged iof their constituents have guns.
  
  They think they’re protecting themselves, just as they intended to do by making recordings illegal if the other party wasn’t notified in advance of the bug.
  
  They want to continue their crimes unabated without somebody having the means and the equipment to reveal their criminal conduct and hold them accountable.
  
  In the old West these types would have been picked up, thrown in the street, while everybody shot at their feet to make them dance.

  Maryand can do this, because their is no article intheir State Bill of Rights that gaurentees Citizens the right to Bear Arms to Protect themselves.
  
  I blame the people of Maryland. There is no one to blame but yourself.
  
  It is a simple fix. Have legislation to amend Maryland State Constitution – 2/3 vote of legislation then hold a special election and vote to pass the amendment under Maryland State Constitution: Bill of Rights: IRght to Bear Arms: Right for every citizen to bear arms to defend themselves, and/or the State.

PG County says the ban is “temporary.” Translation: It’ll last until CPAC decides that moving its convention to the Gaylord in National Harbor (in PG County) isn’t such a great idea, and perhaps it’d be better held in a county more respectful of the 2nd Amendment.

The government can’t just arbitrarily decide they’re going to ban something until further notice. There is a reason we have laws and a well defined process for making them. It’s precisely to keep people at any level of government from simply seizing power that is not afforded to them.

Why not temporarily ban crime while they gather all opinions?

What a bunch of nincompoops these people are. And PG County is riddled with crime and all sorts of riff raff that no decent person wants to be around without a gun. Fortunately there are plenty of other counties who are all too happy to take business away from these nutjobs. PG County probably has the least productive people in the DC area and the highest number of people on the dole. It figures they would be quick to take even more rights away and making people even more dependent on government. Good Luck, PG County residents. What will happen to you if you ever have to think for yourselves?

If I were in City Government, I’d be offering low cost gun safety and shooting instruction for all citizens and would encourage everyone trained, of age, who can pass background checks and mental health evaluations, to be armed. I’ll bet you my community would be extremely safe, healthy, wholesome, quiet, mannerly, and productive. And I’d make sure there were gun shows frequently and appropriately. I’d have the motto “We Carry” and I’d make sure the criminals knew that if they stepped out of line and infringed on citizen’s rights, they would be carried out of the community on a stretcher. It’s called Keeping the Peace.

I hate Maryland. I wish their wannabe gangstas would stay on their own side of the river and stop shooting up our bar parking lots. The bar scene used to be fun and peaceful until the strip clubs attracted the gangstas from Maryland. Now there isnt a decent bar that doesnt cater to the wannabe gangsta rap crowd,because someone somewhere decided thats the only music women can shake their butts to and every little punk thinks he needs to prove his manhood by being the most thug like and a player keeping it real by shooting people from a car fleeing a bar parking lot.

gun shows are enormous revenue sources for county exposition halls. people who attend pay money and generally are not free loaders. the rv industry is the other one. all those budgetary records are available to the public by account code. uniform accounting standards require that. these elected officials just proved thier incompetence.

the end game is national registration and confiscation. its in the democrat party platform.

Figures. Prince George County surrounds the northern part of Wash. D.C. Mostly D.C. bureaucrats live in that County. The conservative County in Maryland, is Carroll County.

  Wrong! Prince George’s County is to the EAST of Washington DC and is the less desirable place to live (and drive through) and is adjacent to the hell hole of DC (south east) that you don’t go into after dark.
  
  To the North of DC is Montgomery County, where you will find Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Silver Spring, and is the wealthiest most upscale county in the State, and you will find many State and County officials there, as well as many politicians and government officials.
