What Makes Glenn Beck ‘Optimistic’? His Speech at the ‘GameChanger’ Event in Dallas Lets You Know

Glenn Beck joined sports stars, coaches and other personalities as a featured speaker at the GameChanger Leadership Summit in Dallas on Monday where he urged people to believe in the incredible things we can accomplish as Americans.

“I am a guy that is known for being less than optimistic about things,” Beck told the audience. “But I will tell you, my optimism comes when I see people who believe they can make a difference. My pessimism comes when I look across the country and see too many people who no longer believe in what we can do — or worse yet, no longer care.”

(Related: Former NFL Player Not Afraid to Be ‘Politically Incorrect’ on Gun Violence: ‘Gun Laws Are Not Going to Fix the Problem’)

To help make his point, Beck read from a profoundly inspirational letter sent by Neil Armstrong to one of his friend’s children:

In my work, I depended on many people. In space flight whether it be a fellow crewman or a flight controller in mission control on earth, i was often trusting that person with my life. When you depend on others, you want to be able to trust them. You want to be able to know that they say what they mean and mean what they say. And they will want to feel the same about you. Your word should always be beyond question.

[…]

The one thing that cannot be taken from you without your consent is your character, which includes your beliefs, your ethics and your principles. So guard them with care. They are your most valuable possessions.

The 21st century has much promise. Remarkable things may be created and achieved. And each of you will have the opportunity to play a role in achieving and creating a better world. I know you will try. Good luck!! I wish I had your future.

“If we are to beat the game of life, we must know who we are, we must know who God is,” Beck said, reflecting on Armstrong’s letter. “We must relentlessly seek the truth and then apply that truth in our lives relentlessly, with every bit of us, with every fiber in our being and with every thought.”

“Great things may be achieved and accomplished if we try, and if we behave like men and women determined to be free,” he concluded.

Beck spoke before Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow. Other speakers at the GameChanger event included former NFL player and founder of Transformation Church Derwin L. Gray and Grant Teaff, whose career as a college coach has placed him in eight Halls of Fame.

Who knew that a story called “what makes Glenn so optimistic” would bring so many bats out of the caves? It is ironic that this “positive” story hit such a negative raw nerve in many of these posts.

Those of us who know that the United States is not specifically mentioned in Revelations also understand that it simply means that our role has not been completely defined, nor has it been written in stone…yet.

So I will continue to believe in Providence.

I am thankful and I appreciate anyone who posted that they were “optimistically” doing the same. And I wouldn’t care if they were a Jew, Atheist, Mormon, Muslim, Scientologist…or whatever!

I pray right now that if I ever get so hardened that I feel the desire to go onto Glenn’s website (or anyone’s else’s for that matter) just to bash them….that my finger’s would simply rot off my hands….amen.

And yes, if I had a son….he would look like Matt Kibbe….and I would be darn proud of him!

From what I know, Glenn has not borrowed any money for his start-up on his new station. I only know he speaks to me – most of the time. So far, he’s told more truth than Obama and media and all the politicians together. I sit and am amazed that Americans are falling for all this propaganda that MSNBC spews.

What I notice mostly is this drum beat for equality and non-discrimination – unless you don’t think like the progressives. I’ve heard many times, women should be equal, blacks should be equal, etc – but not if they’re common sense, self-made conservative ones. One liberal pundit went on and on how women are not voted president and someone brought up some really qualified republican women and they all screamed -”No, not republican women, democratic women”. We now have a separation, not only of race, creed, etc, but even your gender is scrutinized. Marco Rubio is being crucified at this moment – but aren’t all the libs for this very thing? The self-made, common-sense thinking Hispanic people? Or is it only the dumb, stupid ones who collect American money from it’s citizens. The double standard nearly strangles me. Where are we going? I just hope I have the right parts, being a woman, to qualify to keep my life in the future. You never know. My height/weight might be wrong and they will have to exterminate us.

Glenn Beck is optimistic because he believes that we all can gather together and change the outcome of the future in direct contradiction to scriptures.

You want to know what is going to happen and happen very soon? Just read the book of Revelation

Here we are on the verge of the resurrection/rapture http://youtu.be/CBsYDhNxFlU and we have a mormon/cult member talking junk that he cannot back up in direct contradiction of the real Jesus and real bible

I returned and saw under the sun that — The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11 NKJV)

Wealth is by chance. Liberals and conservatives both need to learn this lesson. Beck is a charlatan and hypocrite. His words will send you to your death. In one breath, he warns us of our government. In another he tells you to surrender. When it gets too hot, he caves so the heat from ‘authorities’ won’t come down on him when SHTF and disrupt his cushy lifestyle. He’s no different from a televangelist. Go sell your $129 jeans, Glenn. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    From THE REPORTER
    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

After the election a tremendous amount of air came out of Glenn’s balloon. Cab’t blame him for that. Since that time you have heard not one blistering attack on Mr. Obama from Glenn.

It can be presumed that Glenn said “the he-l with it all, I’m going to follow the course for my own success and build my company,” which is exactly what he’s doing. Again, you can’t blame him for that.

The problem with Beck is that he does not have the courage to personally lead. Alex Jones, whether you agree with his methodology or not, has the guts and the “get in your face” attitude to be a leader and also get the job done. Beck is too interested in the almighty dollar and that will likely be his downfall.

I respect that Glenn needs to make money. I did stop listening to him the day after barry was re-elected. But it’s not because I don’t respect him or even like him. Because I do, both. It’s because I have to plan my own path of making it each and every day. I also stopped listening to conservative talk radio etc altogether. I’m kind of starting just now to listen again but only to local and free stuff. I just know the reality is that America is now governed by a group who has only a desire for her destruction. So my main focus, being a Texan is in our seccession. I’ve given up on America as Democrats have a stronghold there. But not in my God-loving state, Texas!! God Bless Texas!

HAPPY, better move somewhere else. The metropolitan areas of Texas are already blue – Dallas, Harris and Travis counties for example. I predict that Perry will not be reelected, although you never know. You live out in the less populated areas I take it. There are good things about that I admit, but those less populated areas are shrinking and the Democratic areas are increasing.

Growing up, didn’t you recite the Pledge of Allegiance? “One nation, INDIVISIBLE, with liberty and justice for all.” I guess the propaganda didn’t take.

Anyway, I think you’d better move to another state, like Arizona or Oklahoma. And do it soon because Texas is turning blue. And, no, the state isn’t going to secede. That’s a fantasy.

I’m with you on secession. I have a small ember of hope that the country will wake up before the Progressives totally destroy freedom, but it is a long shot. They will probably only wake up when the debt causes the financial system to collapse and then it may be too late. As we know the Republic has been ‘progressively’ transformed into a democracy, which always deteriorates into an Oligarchy. The Oligarchy is without question the goal of our current President.

I love Glenn and am a subscriber to the Blaze TV on Netflix, that said, I am not optimistic unfortunately, but if I had Glenn Beck’s money I wouldn’t be too worried about the state of affairs either. I get very frustrated when Glenn tells us to be prepared, buy gold, etc. I have enough to live on and that’s it, what the heck am I supposed to do, not being able to do any of the things Glenn wants us to do is very stressful and quite frankly depressing.

I too share your concerns. Living pay check to pay check and then tring to prepair is hard. One thing we did was to start working on our food storage. All we did was each time we went to the store just bought a little extra. So if we needed corn instead of buying one or two cans we bought 3 to 4 cans. Just doing that little bit for the last couple of months and we’ve stashed enough food and water for the famly for two weeks.

Just do a little at a time, and before you know it, you’ll be ready.

Canned food keeps a long time and is still fairly cheap. I also have bought large bags of rice at Sam’s. You can cook rice with a little meat or veggies and survive when other things are not available or too costly to afford. You are focusing on the wrong person. Glenn Beck is not the answer, Jesus Christ is the answer. Also with things so tight why are you giving money away to Glenn Beck? You can get all the information you pay him for, from other sources for free and you won’t have him constantly telling you what you should do and how you should act. But if you want to continue to let an ex alcoholic, radio talk show host, TV personality tell you how to think and act then you go right ahead. That is your choice. He’s an idea Glenn, take the money you would waste on an amusement park that very few people will see, and instead use it to make films and television programs that millions will see and may actually help win the culture war.

Glenn is a talker, not a doer. And when he “does”, it’s only for his own self-aggrandizement.

It is too bad Glenn Beck let TheBlaze come under the complete control of Betsy Morgan of the Huffington post. What once was a great pipeline of conservative though has been reduced to a tabloid of gossipy, low information, comatose conservatives arguing about the latest Saturday Night Live bits.

I miss being able to get the real news here, as well as Beck’s leadership.

    From the article:
“If we are to beat the game of life, we must know who we are, we must know who God is,” Beck said, reflecting on Armstrong’s letter. “We must relentlessly seek the truth and then apply that truth in our lives relentlessly, with every bit of us, with every fiber in our being and with every thought.”

As for TheBlaze’s president this quote and Glenn Beck’s teachings falls on the deaf ears of a liberal person that does not give a ship about Glenn, his followers, God, freedom or conservative thought.
