Mother Outraged After 4th Grader Brings Home ‘Adult-Themed’ Homework About Infidelity

(Photo: ABC15)
A 4th grade student at the Playa Del Rey Elementary School in Arizona said she was “a little shocked” when she opened up her homework assignment last week. Not quite the reading material the 10-year-old was probably used to, the worksheet asked her to explain what was happening in a situation where a woman finds another woman’s hair clip under the bed.
“It was shocking that [they] would actually put that on a 4th grader’s homework,” Kyera McCloskey told ABC 15 with precocious maturity. “I kinda had my mom help me with the answer a little bit, because I didn’t want to go too deep into what the question was trying to ask me…”
In the end, she wrote: “The husband had cheated, and he was in big trouble.”
When Kyera’s mother Heather Nicks informed the school district, she was told the teacher hadn’t written the assignment, and merely skimmed it before passing it out. The teacher immediately apologized to all the parents in the class, and the school denounced the assignment.
But Nicks still wasn’t pleased.
“If my kid turned in an assignment and they skimmed it, they’d get in trouble for it, they’d get a bad grade,” she said. “That’s not a subject matter that the school needs to bring up to my child.”
Here’s the ABC 15 report:
But TheBlaze was left wondering — if the teacher didn’t write it, who did? What curriculum is this school using?
A school representative informed TheBlaze over the phone that the assignment was not part of the school curriculum, which the board approves, but was part of an online curriculum that the teacher had used in the past with “great success.”
The teacher had utilized all the board-approved materials to teach inferences and, as she is allowed to do, sought additional outside material.
“She downloaded a worksheet, but unfortunately she read the first two scenarios but did not read the last two,” the Playa Del Rey Elementary School representative told us.
The assignment has since been removed from the website, she said, but declined to provide the name of the site.
“This is not condoned in any way,” she concluded, noting that the school has repeatedly apologized. “We’d like to be done with it and move on.”

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 3:27pmPart of the master plan is to get prices of everything up so high that both parents must work to keep things going leaving the state to “raise” the kids. This is what you get. Essays on cheating husbands, and books like “Mary has two mommies”. The state is unholy and unholsum. It will worry about the amount of calories a kid gets in his home made lunch…………..but try and sexualize a 4th grade girl. Americans had better take their country back and we need to do it now.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:44pmThe whole sex thing was just too much for my fourth-grade mind to handle in 1977. Our teacher showed us a movie of two kangaroos getting in on in the Outback. I was traumatized. When I saw two men at the Village People concert doing the same thing two years later, I knew I’d been forewarned. Dad, however, did not. We left shortly thereafter.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:39pmTypical teacher of today. How could she have used it previously with great success and still not know what was in it. I agree with the mother, if the girl would have handed in a poor paper and said she just “skimmed” over the assignment………………she would have gotten an “F”.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:36pmOf course you would like to be done with it and move on you unionized progressive piece of crap!
This is yet another perfect example of our unionized governmental progressive re-education system at work with your children. Comon parents, when will you wake up and take part in your kids life? Get them out of public schools NOW.
This is the typical governmment cirriculum, study hall, free lunch, condom application, GLBT acceptence, anit capitolism, green is good, everybody’s a winner.
No history, no manditory gym (obiecity), no economy, no patriotism, no pride except in self gratification.
If you still let your kids go to public schools you are all FOOLS!

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:34pmTwo comments:
first: the school ought to remove the teacher AND MOVE ON;
second: as the mother, why play into their inappropriate, liberal mind-programming propaganda? why not respond, ‘the room was used by my husbands visiting sister and she must have dropped her **** clip one day.’
Why play into their uncalled for effort to expose ‘our’ children to sexual, provocative, deviant behavior? Does everything have to be ‘dirty’ or immoral? Can there not be innocent explanations to certain situations? Can’t children be taught that instead of the lurid? There will be plenty of time to educate and expose children to the tawdry and unfortunate side of life. Liberals, teaching in great detail, 1st and 2nd graders about homosexuality is repugnant.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:28pm______________When President gave states a waiver for No Child Left Behind , it opened the door for COMMON CORE CURRICULUM : CCC ! Every state who accepted Obama’s waiver was unwittingly duped into CCC . It is a new online curriculum that will be taught to every child in the public school via their IPAD.
Teachers who have become aware of this anti- American curriculum are intimidated with the loss of their jobs if they speak out . There are only six states who have not opted in to CCC , however Obama is pushing to mandate this nationwide , even homeschooled children and Christian schools. They want every child to be taught Socialism , globalism and extreme environmentalism . I’m sure homosexuality will be included. Phyllis Schlafly spoke of this on her radio program a few weeks ago and I’ve seen it elsewhere . Parents must research this nightmare and shout out to your representatives (ha ha ). This CCC is a global curriculum , a tenement of UN AGENDA 21 !!!!!

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:34pm______ Also, this is why Obama keeps preaching about more money for school and yes , this includes the introduction and indoctrination of our pre-school children . The cost of this curriculum is much more expensive , follow the money ! Parents better speak out loudly , no more will our children learn penmanship, mathematics , history, science or civics. The leftist are after our children’s minds in a way we can’t begin to ….imagine !

Is exactly what you do not want to let happen. Tie them to the train tracks so to speak to make sure it will never happen again. Make the teach an example just as they would do to your kid should he/she do something wrong.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 1:45pmI saw this on the news last night and was amused. Now I’m laughing. We lament the fact that the teachers can’t teach morals anymore and what are you doing??? The kids got the right answer, at least. This is a lesson in morality, even if the kids might be a bit too young for this question. How many of those kids have parents, or parents of friends or relatives, who have cheated? We need more morality in schools. And yes, the teachers should check all the work before they assign it. By the way, “the talk” about mestruation is given to 4th graders. They have a vague idea of sex, they weren’t given a diagram with that question.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 1:45pmI don’t like the fact that the school is refusing to give the source of the homework. The parents have a right to know where teachers are getting their information and passing on to their children. If the teacher and the school fail to vet the work they are assigning to their children, the responsibility falls to the parents who should now be demanding answers, and “oops” just doesn’t cut it as far as I am concerned.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 1:42pmThis is mild compared to a lot of the materials kids are being exposed to. A hugely celebrated book all over is Hatchet which has a mom committing adultery and the kid being told to hide it from the dad. There’s no resolution in the story. It’s used in almost every elementary school. Parents must read everything. Anything by mark crutcher is toxic…. and popular among educators. Vigilance always!!!

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 1:35pmI’ll bet the teacher knew exactly what the assignment was. Just more testing of the waters that we are seeing more and more of. Like all these bills being proposed for gun grabs that have no chance of passing.
They’re just seeing what kind of blowback (and from who) they will get.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 1:29pmWhy does it have to be the husband cheated and he is in big trouble, what if mommy wanted to try lesbianism and her lover dropped it, come they already teach that it is acceptable and have the books that say so and so has two mommys, so lets say mommy cheated with another woman and daddy is going to have fun.
