An Oklahoma high school student has received death threats and left town after he posted a picture of a pit bull he had killed with a bow and arrow on Facebook.
In addition to the picture, the post by 18-year-old Caisen Green read, ”For all you pit lovers out there. Here’s what happens when one shows up around my house.”

This image has since been removed from Facebook and Green’s page as a whole has been disabled for the time being. (Image: Facebook via Daily Mail)
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the issue, but authorities said in a press release that Green has not been available for questioning as he left the area due to death threats he had been receiving, KJRH reported. Undersheriff Jason Chennault asked in the release for people to stop making threats against Green and his Green family and noted that those making threats could be subject to prosecution.
“I understand people don’t want to see animals hurt,” Chennault told the Muskogee Phoenix. “But death threats are not going to help the situation.”
The Phoenix went on to report Chennault saying that the department needs more information about the events surrounding the dog’s death.
“It’s a gray area,” Chennault said to the Phoenix. “If the dog is threatening livestock or your well-being, you can do what you have to do stop it. I’m going to do my best to get everything done this week, and we’ll forward the report to the (District 27) District Attorney’s Office.”
Fox 23 reported these thoughts from local residents regarding the photo:
“He needs to be punished the right way, and not by people doing something to him,” says Tahlequah resident, Charles York.
[...]
“Something needs to be done and he shouldn’t be able to get away with killing a dog like that and putting it on facebook and have nothing done to him,” says Jennifer Tillison.
Fox 23 also reported that Green is expected to give a statement to law enforcement with his attorney Tuesday.
Officials with the local humane society are reported as saying they were shocked by the post but wouldn’t seek jail time as punishment as they don’t feel it would change Green’s attitude toward the breed.
“It would be better for him to have to work community service, maybe 100 hours in a facility to where he can learn and be around people who love dogs and understand dogs lives,” Humane Society of Cherokee County board member Lou Hays told KJRH-TV.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 6:38pmFirst of all, if a dog (or anything) is charging you, you’re not going to stop it with a bow and arrow shot. That would be like duck hunting with a .22. Secondly, if you’re going to do this, don’t post it all over facebook. If anything, he needs to be punished for being stupid. Thirdly, in a locality that has “aggressive dog” ordinances this would be perfectly legal. If you have a dog, any dog, keep it on YOUR property. It’s YOUR dog, not mine, if I wanted a dog on my property I’d get my own dog. So, there’s enough stupid to go around on this one.

This is a statement made by someone under a purely emotional portion of their brain. Sort of like after the sandy hook murders. ” SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE “. This is nonsense. Lets get the facts first.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 6:11pmI do believe in k1lling pitbulls, but it should be done humanely. Just too many times owners say, “well, he never did that BEFORE…” after the dog tears the throat out of your two-year-old child. But no animal should be tortured, so make it a clean, fatal shot or a painless poison to send ‘em on their way.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 5:55pmIn our county, the mere presence of a pit bull gets it killed.
If a sheriff deputy has to come out they will put it down. I
realise, there are a lot of pit bull owners that just love their
dogs and maybe they will never have a problem but most
do. Owners are chewed up, kids are killed, once in a while
an adult. It’s a dangerous breed no matter what owners say.
However killing a dog and then putting it on facebook is just
plain stupid.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 5:40pmEverybody wants to condem this kid for killing a Pit Bull. These animals are an unprdeictable breed, and most times, a very vicious breed. Yes ther are some good ones, very few, but my expereince has not been a good one around pits. One couple said the dog was so gentle, yeah so gentle until it decided to use there 18 month old baby girl for a chewy toy. Did not turn out well for the child. It no longer breaths. These dogs are nothing but wild animals for the most part. So if you don’t know how are when they will snap, they are not to be trusted. Some say it is all how you raise them. Well the parents of the 18 mth old child informed the police that they had the dog since it was six weeks old. Never abused it, treated it like one of there children. So if it is all in the breeding, then I guess the breed itself is the problem. The 18year old boy was most probly not going to take any chances, and the dog was on his property, then he had every right to take the animal down. This has nothing to do with animal cruelty. I have dogs of my own, and neither one of them is of a vicious breed. You people who want to kill this kid because he killed a dog that has a reputation of vicious attacks against humans. You should step back before you attack this kid. It sounds to me that he will defend himself. Beware you bunch of Drunks.

They’re not babies, idiot. The vast majority of terminations occur before the fetus can survive outside the womb. Therefore they’re still parasites. Yeah, let’s not give people a choice and force everyone to carry every baby. You want another 50 million on Medicaid?”"”
What an uninformed, ignorant post. Intersting those already born have a negative say about the unborn, eh? Ohbytheway, that “parasite” you claim is actually HUMAN DNA. It’s not a lizard or a mule, it’s human DNA.
Your other remark about the cost is astounding,. You’ve placed the unborn as the same status as a slave – no human rights. No, you think you own that life when it’s not a part of you. That’s terrible the left places the unborn in the same view as the south placed the slaves. Pathetic as they believe as the slaveowners the fetus is not Human DNA, it’s less than human.
Disgusting pigs put a price on life, and try to diminish the wonder of the gift of life, disgusting.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 5:45pmWhat the hell are you talking about? This is about a dog, not a fetus. And it is a human, not a parisite. How can you talk about this as if it is in a petre dish. It sounds like you are the one that should have been aborted before thinking like that could take hold.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 5:06pmThere seems something wrong with this kid. Cruelty to animals is a strong indicator of a psychopathic personality, which shows up later in mortal and morbid crimes against people. This dog might have been a docile, loving pet of some child or family. There is an undercurrent of cruelty to this boy’s posting, and implicit satisfaction of killing without cause.
Now, if it was my dog, which happened to slip out momentarily for some reason, and this happened, I would seek a civil suit restitution, If that didn’t do it, and the kid put on some snot nose attitude with his parents, then I would take a more direct action.
These types of crimes do not necessitate jail time. Like Singapore, caning or flogging will leave an impression on a recalcitrant, much more than sitting in a cell and lifting weights and shooting hoops.
Years ago, on a construction site next to my house, one of the workers tried to kill one my beautiful, loving cats. I knew the builder and tried to get his name from him and the other workers. They would not come forth. I told all of them that if I see him or find out who he is, he probably would not be able to work for a long, long time. Lucky for him, I never found out who it was. And I had at least five longshoreman who volunteered for backup. No one messes with my family.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 5:20pmObjectively speaking, my wife’s middle class niece and nephew, both with advanced college degrees, had two rescue pit bulls-big ones-that were sweet, gentle and loving. The have two preschool little girls who frolicked with the dogs, squeezed them like dolls, etc, etc. I spent time with the dogs in this family. The dogs never once displayed bad temper.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 4:28pmTypical dumb ass responses ftom all the trailer trash genetic inbreds that have no respect for life. Hunting animals for food is one thing hunting domesticated dogs because you don’t like dogs in general or pit bulls in particular shows a clear lack of humanity and Christianity. If you knew anything about dogs in general and pit bulls in particular you would know that blanket statments about a breed is not only stupid it is just blame moronic. Any dog’s behaviour is more dependent on the particular human owner then it is on some dumb idea that pit bulls or German Shepards or any other dog is inherently vicious. Like I said, trailer trash genetic inbreds no wonder such astute postings.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 4:08pmCame home one day and yelled for my husband because I found a pit in my backyard with my Lab and my mutt. My husband ran in and got a pistol just in case it lurched at one of us. Could only assume that the pit was raised for nefarious reasons. How do I know you ask? His collar was some chain and a lock! Just happened to be the weekend when the pound is not working. Finally got dog out just for him to go around the house and jump the fence again. 2nd time he left but was very afraid. Years ago when I was almost home from a jog had a little pit come up to me and he was the friendliest thing. You just never know! Good rule of thumb if there is know I.D. on the pup chances are it’s because the owners know what they’ve done to that dog and they don’t want you to find them!

Feb. 19, 2013 at 4:05pmStraying a little but please keep this in mind….It happens today…For both dog and cat owners…Years ago we in rural Wisconsin had a problem with rabies. The situation arises when dead livestock is discarded in woods and not properly buried. Or given to a dead stock removal service. At the time dead stock removal was charging and some dairies were careless with removal…Skunks, raccoons, possum and other meat eaters at that point pass the rabies onto farm dogs and the typical Ferrel farm cat they come in contact with. Had to hunt out the skunks and other vermin along with some rabid wild dogs and cats ..and of course this was before the day of “Government” everything regulation. We all joined together used common sense with the area citizen and prevented it from happening again. So my point to all is keep a eye on your area and pets.

Feb. 19, 2013 at 3:59pmMy neighbor bought a young boxer bulldog and it started chasing my two small toy Chihuahua’s on my property. I was able to stop the dog before any problems; however, as the dog got bigger, I feared the dog may kill my dogs. Telling my neighbor to keep his dogs (now two) in his yard failed. He had the gall to tell me I should keep my dogs on a leash. I was forced to call Animal Control. They said my only option was to shot the dogs if I believe it to be a threat to my dogs. With my permission, Animal Control told my neighbor that I had all rights to shoot his dogs if he could not keep them in his yard. This continued for some time until I started carrying my AR15 in visible sight when I took my dogs out. One day when I knew my neighbor was outside, I shot my AR into the ground. He came frantically running and told me I better not shoot his dog. I told him to keep his dogs in his yard or I would be forced to. A few days later he installed an electric fence. So far problem solved. Sadly, it took training the owner not the dog. Catawba, NC

Feb. 19, 2013 at 3:52pmThe threads here today are a cornucopia of irrationality and ignorance. Pitbulls are no different than any other breed of work dog. Their temperament depends largely on how the owner socialized them and treated them while they were growing up. ANY dog can be turned into a salivating viscous beast. I’ve been around these dogs most of my life and never saw a properly raised Pit threaten or attack anyone who wasn’t threatening it or the members of its pack (owner and family members). And yes this kid should be punished IF if can be proven that the dog was not threatening him or anyone else.

Feb. 20, 2013 at 9:40amRob:
Again, ANY dog not properly socialized and abused while growing up WILL be a dangerous and viscous animal. Your argument is ridiculous and demonstrates you haven’t a clue abut dogs. And I have a buddy who owns a teacup Chihuahua. that little thing turns from a docile frail looking rat to a foaming at the mouth crazed dog if you simply slap one of the family members no matter how lightly. It’s size makes this a non-issue BUT train a bigger dog to behave like this and you have a serious problem. My buddy and his family think it’s cute. They don’t get how bad this actually is. When that little rat mauls a small child that playfully hits one of them they will then understand that their dog has a serious behavioral problem.
