Unbelievable Hoard of Guns, Drugs, Cash and a Tractor Found in Man’s ‘Pirate Cave’ — See the Pics of the Haul

(Image: County Sheriff’s Department via Huffington Post)
Humboldt County Sheriff Department’s Public Information Officer Lt. Steve Knight told the Huffington Post the bounty found with a search warrant on property in Garberville, Calif., was “one of the largest hauls that we’ve ever seen.”
When you take a look at the list below and you’ll see why.
- 111 guns, including a MG 42 caliber WWII Machine gun with a full belt of ammunition
- Ballistic vests
- Tactical holsters
- Ammo, magazines
- 117 pounds of marijuana
- 42 grams hashish
- 4 grams of methamphetamine
- 40 vehicles
- A tractor
- A trailer
- All-terrain vehicles
- Chainsaws
- Concrete cutter
- Air compressor
- $12,000 cash
- Jewelry
All this bounty — some of which was stolen goods — was found on 30-year-old Ryan Floyd’s 55-acre property. Some of it was found in what the Huffington Post described as a “pirate cave” (yes, an actual cave) for hiding the items.

Law enforcement first became interested in Floyd earlier this month when they tried to pull him over for driving erratically without a rear license plate, the sheriff’s press release stated. Police were forced to chase Floyd when he didn’t stop the vehicle. He eventually drove the pick-up truck off-road down a hill and crashed into a tree. When police reached the truck,, which was later identified as stolen from a vacationing family whose home was burglarized as well, it was empty of its driver.

On Feb. 7, the police obtained a search warrant for Floyd’s residence where they found a majority of the stash. Floyd was arrested and a second man on the property, Gregory Benson, was taken into custody as well. When deputies and investigators returned on Feb. 12, they found another woman on the property, Deanna McDonald, but she was released to care for her small children. More items were found on the 12th as well.
The weapons cache Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Downey told KIEM TV was enough to man a small militia.
“There were so many guns they were too heavy to pull out,” Downey said.
KIEM TV reported Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Gomes saying this stash is one of the largest they’ve ever uncovered.
According to the sheriff’s press release, the guns included a SKS, Colt AR-15’s, sawed off shotguns with pistol grips, a fully automatic, loaded machine gun, and Tech Nine assault weapons. KIEM TV reported Downey saying he thinks Floyd intended to sell the weapons for those seeking out illegal firearms.

In this photo provided by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s department, deputies show a stash of guns that were discovered in a cave on the property of a home they were serving a search warrant on Tuesday, Feb. 12. (Photo: AP)
Downey also revealed to NBC News that he has had experience with the Floyd family and the property in the past:
Downey said he encountered Floyd’s father Wally, now deceased, multiple times on the sprawling property about a decade ago on drug and theft charges.
“This is a piece of property I had been to numerous times surrounding the same type of criminal activity,” Downey said.
Watch this report:
Authorities are still trying to determine what items were stolen. Thus far, at least 20 of the guns were reported stolen as well as at least one of the cars, jewelry, the UTV Kabota Tractor, chainsaws, concrete cutter and the air compressor.
According to ABC Local, Floyd has seven felony drug and weapons charges but more could be added. He is still in police custody with bail set at $400,000. A third person, Honey Walsh, 29, is being sought for the case as well.

I have the knowledge to survive and grow food, but I have NO delusions that if it comes down to taking something I need for survival by force, THAT is EXACTLY what I will do… And anyone who gets in my way will have a life/death fight on their hands… After all, morals are only of use to the living…

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 1:43pmDon’t get me wrong folks… What I said is I’m prepared to do that ONLY in the worst case situation… When faced with death ONLY… not just to make my life easier…
And if it EVER came down to that, I would FAULT NO ONE for defending what is theirs… I mean, that is the right of EVERY man (or woman)…
I don’t think that stealing anything is ever a “good idea” and EVERY alternative MUST be attempted prior to using force FOR ANYTHING… However, anyone NOT prepared to make that decision (or is unwilling to acknowledge that THAT decision may have to be made), will most likely find themselves on the wrong side of someone who has… At which time, you become Prey…. If you want to take the moral high ground and assign yourself the role of victim, that’s fine… But that will NOT be the choice I make… I would never look to make anyone MY victim, however, I will NEVER allow myself to become someone else’s…
If you read any further into my comment than that, then obviously you will misunderstand it….
EVERY person must ponder over what their priorities in life are in case the worst situation were to happen… And NONE of you could tell me straight faced that YOU would watch YOUR CHILD starve to death if you could go out and take the food for their survival if you had no other choice, and if you do, YOUR A LIAR…

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:36pmWhile the STORY of the police is compelling, they no longer have the sterling quality levels of believability they once had. in other words, I DON’T BELIEVE THEM! now why would I say such a thing? well, when judges, prosecutors and the police have a quaint little nickname for when a cop gives testimony, it gives one a new perspective.. what is that quaint little nickname you ask?? they call it TESTILYING!
I know, some of you will rush to defend them by saying, not all cops are bad. I say that those who stand by and do nothing to stop these acts, while the others are committing atrocities such as murder, rape, robbery, assault and theft of inalienable rights, are just as guilty, if not more so than their brethren who actually perpetrated the crimes!
Once upon a time, you could trust the police. Trusting in them has become a fairy tale of late and you are deluded if you believe otherwise!
Now having said all this, I for one, still believe in an antiquated little phrase, INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! The police will put out their spin and the media will lap it up. Any more if the braindead morons see something on video, well it must be true!
What if it were you being tried and judged? You say it couldn’t happen to you! Well sadly, yes it can! you can be FRAMED, it’s not like the police from every corner of the country haven’t framed people before!!

All I am saying, and ever have, is that SURVIVAL is the most important thing if the train ever comes off the tracks… And at that time ALL of us are going to have some hard decisions to make.. I have thought about some of them, and my conclusion is simply this… I prioritize my (and those I care for) survival above ALL else…
Would I EVER want to take ANYTHING by force?? No… I don’t like the idea of it at all, however, hunger makes people do things they would not do otherwise.. And although I wouldn’t like it, when faced with death ANY alternative is preferable…
Could YOU watch one of your children Starve to death?? I somehow doubt it… If you had NO OTHER CHOICE but to take to survive, would YOU rather die (would you rather watch those you care about die)?? I somehow doubt it…
Maybe I mis-worded my comment, causing you all to mis-understand (sorry, I thought most of you were more intelligent than that), but all I meant was simply, if the Crap goes Pear-shaped, then YOU MUST be prepared to do ANYTHING to ensure the survival of yourself and your loved ones…
The question is simply this, Have YOU thought about what you are prepared to do, or will you just roll over and give up??

A VERY wise comment…. And I am VERY well aware of that… Weapons are NOT the only thing you need (which is why I only own 3: A pistol, a rifle and a shotgun).. Which is why I was raised a farmer, and have studied survival (under an Army Ranger) so that EVERY alternative can be sought before resorting to something I don’t want to do (hurt anyone else).
I know how to make a water purifier, I know how to acquire water… I know how to grow food (and have the means to do so), so that violence (of any kind) will be an extreme last resort if things go south….

VERY TRUE… Which is EXACTLY WHY I said that is a LAST RESORT TACTIC.. When death is THE ONLY alternative…. To attempt to take anything in a situation like that has GREAT risks…
I don’t like the idea for the following reasons;
1. It is dangerous, and getting killed to ensure survival sake is counter-productive.
2. It takes things from others that need it (not cool in my opinion, but preferable over resigning myself and my loved ones to death)…
Keep Smart and prepared (as it sounds you are)…. And here’s hoping that we NEVER have to “Survive”….

I am glad that there was at least one of you who understood what I said…
It’s not that I like the thought of preying on others…(in fact, the thought of it disgusts me…) However, the thought of dying when I could survive, disgusts me more…
I don’t enjoy the idea of preying on ANYONE, but I have thought it over, and if it makes me a bad guy to say that I would resort to ANYTHING to ensure the survival of myself and my family, then call me a bad guy, cause that is what I would do…
Would I prefer peaceful solutions and passive dealings?? Heck yes, anyone who prefers otherwise will find out the hard way that they made a mistake… But in the hypothetical situation we all may realistically face, you need to think about what all you are and are not willing to do for yourself and your family… Or someone else may make that decision for you..
Here’s hoping that NONE of us EVER have to make ANY of these decisions, but every day they look more and more like an approaching reality…
To all of the fools who rush to judge me, seriously I forgive your comments, you obviously mis-understood. I only hope that you will think about what I said, because even if you have the BEST laid plans for stuff like this, things don’t always work out the way we think they will, so you MUST be prepared for ANYTHING… Or go home, look at your kids, and say, “I would let you die, rather than do something wrong to save you if I had to…”.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 8:38pmPersonally I understand the moral dilemma that OniKaze has come to terms with when he says, “The weak will be prayed upon, plain and simple… Are you going to be a predator? Or Prey?” OniKaze has worked this through further than you and is unafraid to address the coming reality.
I have this fantasy, see. I shouldn’t call it a fantasy because it’s more of a scenario. You wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t understand that civilization is about to collapse. The wise have told me so and I know it to be true.
My house looks fairly normal to the untrained eye, but it is in fact a fortress. With regard to firepower, let’s just say I have the wherewithal to defend my house indefinitely against those trying to pray on me. Sometimes, in my scenario, I imagine what would happen what would happen to any who tried to invade and take my stuff and I can assure you it wouldn’t be pretty for them. Sometimes I imagine this one thing happens and how I respond, then I imagine this other thing happening and so on. That’s an important exercise.
You can be sure I have all my supplies, including “survival seeds” which I’d plant in my back yard and hope for rain, since at some point water would stop coming through the tap.
Of course if the collapse lasted long enough, I’d have to decide whether to be predator or prey. Most of your haven’t thought that far ahead. Don’t get on Onikaze for being more rational and honest than you. He’s followed his scenario.

If people take the time out to be prepared, do you really think food is the only thing.
I suppose to a certain extent your theory could hold water. Consider this;
One in twenty adults in the us are vets. One in somewhere around fifty are combat trained.
Now lets look at oregons most populace county-multnomah. One in forty adults military veterans. Now lets look at fly over country where I live. One in six adults a veterans. Five out of six in my area a combat experienced. That’s rural America vs urban America. Pretty much every veteran owns a minimum of two firearms.
Note that city veterans are usually retired individuals.
Your plan will require at least a dozen weapons and several thousand rounds. A single person cannot carry that. That is a lord of the flies plan.
Store up some supplies. The urbanites will eat each other and take care of your problems.

I don’t fault you for being WILLING to fight for your survival. However, I DO fault you for being AWARE of the potential situation, and CHOOSING to place yourself in that situation, rather than PREPARE by storing food. You CHOOSE to put yourself in a situation where it is you or me. I CHOOSE to store and prepare both food and arms. Your planning consists of arming yourself so you can TAKE from others. This is objectionable on many levels. You, YOURSELF, stated that “EVERY” option must be pursued first… Here’s one option you CAN PURSUE…
“STORE FOOD FOR YOU & YOUR DEPENDENTS”.
Pursue that.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 6:55pmI also understand what ONIKAZE was trying to get at. Its not something any of us want to do and most of us here are prepairing to prevent having to end up in the situation of having to make that choice. He has at least put thought to it and I applaud him for that. Those that think they wouldn’t haven’t actually put any real thought to that scenario. One thing that I preach is that you can take a man that is father of the year, little league coach, sings in the church choir and… now put that man in a situation where he is watching his children starve. This man would then be one of the biggest predators on the planet. Sure he will start by using what he has. Then he will try begging. And when nobody has anything to give he will resort to taking what he needs. Doesn’t matter if he comes to your house with a gun or steals from your garden at night, one is an immediate threat and one is a slow threat to you. I have thought about this and I’ve been realistic with myself. There is nothing I wouldn’t do to protect my children and keep them from starving, us here are trying to keep from ending up that way but we are a tiny percentage. The key is to convince more people to get their head out if their ass and get ready.

I think you need to go back and read OKI’s posts again before spouting off about him only storing weapons and ammo. He said he is storing food and prepared go grow more. Get real with yourself before you judge others here. If my kids were starving I would come and take your food. Fortunately for you, I (and most of us here) are preparing to prevent having to make that decision. If push comes to shove though my kids lives are more important to me than your life ( and the same should be the case in the other direction, your children should mean more to you than i do) . OKI isn’t a threat to us, its the 99% who are blind to reality that aren’t prepared. Don’t beat him down, spread the word to wake the sheep up. I will do my best to prepare so I am never the wolf, and I am no longer a sheep. I am a sheepdog.

This guy is NOT a collector, NOT a prepper, NOT a conservative 2nd Amendment activist…. He’s a freakin grower/dealer. The “Emerald Triangle of California centers on Garbageville. Back in the 80′s there were sites with MaDeuce tripods and ammo for attempting to take out law enforcement, both on the ground and in helicopters and fixed wing. But again, nobody wants to deal with the reality of the differences between criminal element versus John Q Citizen

Satyric, We the people recently raided Janet Napolitano HSS, and found a stash of over 2 billion hollow point bullets, thousands of guns, stash of money, drugs, and other illegal contraband, It was revealed that the HSS was involved in a covert operation to bring the law abiding 2nd amendment right cilvilans down, the information stored on their computers revealed a devious plot to overtake the citizens at gun point and place them in FEMA camps, the ones that surrendered , caskets by the millions were also discovered hidden all around the country to bury the dead that they would terminate.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 11:01amUhm, aside from any illegal automatic weapons, so what?
and WWII automatic weapons are pre-ban, the worst they can do is fine him for not paying the onerous taxes and licenses for having a pre-ban automatic weapon…
And it would not appear that any of these firearms broke free of their captivity and ran about killing innocent passers by.
With that colorado legislator pushing ‘safe zones’, call boxes, and whistles to protect women from rape over guns (he apparently forgets Sandy Hook was a Gun Free Zone), the colorado legislator claiming armed women would merely be disarmed and have their guns used against them (not if it’s my wife or daughters), and the washington legislators advancing a bill without having read it includes ‘searches’ by the sheriff annually of law abiding citizens, the fears of those supporting the Second Amendment seem to be coming true.
Ad the professor who says Obama told him during college he ‘did not believe people should be able to own guns’ and the LIES of POTUS are being laid bare, hopefully not too late.
Personally, I hope the Lefties keep pushing this gun agenda while jobs don’t appear and gas prices soar… getting GOP control of the Congress is crucial… But only if it’s truly fiscal conservative candidates… i don’t care about the social platform until we get the financial house in order.
And i’ll be snapping up whatever ammo i can find as we see what the aim of the Left is.

Liberals never fail to amaze me, on the one hand they claim women are fit for armed conflict in the infantry then they claim that women can’t be trusted with firearms because an unarmed assailant could disarm them and use the gun against them.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 5:20pmrule number one – only do one illegal thing at a time.
that one gives them probable cause and anything else illegal will be your undoing.
but then there would be nothing to watch on COPS if the perps followed rule #1. it’s always a broken tail light that leads to the discovery that the driver has no license/insurance/registration, the car was stolen, there were illegal drugs on the driver, he was out on parole, intoxicated and had stolen weapons in the trunk.
best thing about COPS – you can turn on the TV and always see someone dumber than you.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 11:22amI liked the reference to the “111 guns, including a MG 42 caliber WWII Machine gun with a full belt of ammunition” MG 42 Caliber? That would be an MG42 chambered in 7.92mm, or known today as 8mm Mauser. More than likely it could also be the German issue MG3 chambered in 7.62mm NATO or the Spanish CETME version of the same weapon. And wow! A whole belt of ammo. Have put a number of belts through those guns. I have to confess that the kick of that thing caught me off guard after being so used to the old M60 machine gun back then. Better buffering system makes the M60′s recoil seem more like a .22 when compared to the MG3. One hell of an effective weapon though.
