Unbelievable Hoard of Guns, Drugs, Cash and a Tractor Found in Man’s ‘Pirate Cave’ — See the Pics of the Haul

Humboldt County Sheriff Department’s Public Information Officer Lt. Steve Knight told the Huffington Post the bounty found with a search warrant on property in Garberville, Calif., was “one of the largest hauls that we’ve ever seen.”
When you take a look at the list below and you’ll see why.
- 111 guns, including a MG 42 caliber WWII Machine gun with a full belt of ammunition
- Ballistic vests
- Tactical holsters
- Ammo, magazines
- 117 pounds of marijuana
- 42 grams hashish
- 4 grams of methamphetamine
- 40 vehicles
- A tractor
- A trailer
- All-terrain vehicles
- Chainsaws
- Concrete cutter
- Air compressor
- $12,000 cash
- Jewelry
All this bounty — some of which was stolen goods — was found on 30-year-old Ryan Floyd’s 55-acre property. Some of it was found in what the Huffington Post described as a “pirate cave” (yes, an actual cave) for hiding the items.

Law enforcement first became interested in Floyd earlier this month when they tried to pull him over for driving erratically without a rear license plate, the sheriff’s press release stated. Police were forced to chase Floyd when he didn’t stop the vehicle. He eventually drove the pick-up truck off-road down a hill and crashed into a tree. When police reached the truck,, which was later identified as stolen from a vacationing family whose home was burglarized as well, it was empty of its driver.

On Feb. 7, the police obtained a search warrant for Floyd’s residence where they found a majority of the stash. Floyd was arrested and a second man on the property, Gregory Benson, was taken into custody as well. When deputies and investigators returned on Feb. 12, they found another woman on the property, Deanna McDonald, but she was released to care for her small children. More items were found on the 12th as well.
The weapons cache Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Downey told KIEM TV was enough to man a small militia.
“There were so many guns they were too heavy to pull out,” Downey said.
KIEM TV reported Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Gomes saying this stash is one of the largest they’ve ever uncovered.
According to the sheriff’s press release, the guns included a SKS, Colt AR-15’s, sawed off shotguns with pistol grips, a fully automatic, loaded machine gun, and Tech Nine assault weapons. KIEM TV reported Downey saying he thinks Floyd intended to sell the weapons for those seeking out illegal firearms.

Downey also revealed to NBC News that he has had experience with the Floyd family and the property in the past:
Downey said he encountered Floyd’s father Wally, now deceased, multiple times on the sprawling property about a decade ago on drug and theft charges.
“This is a piece of property I had been to numerous times surrounding the same type of criminal activity,” Downey said.
Watch this report:
Authorities are still trying to determine what items were stolen. Thus far, at least 20 of the guns were reported stolen as well as at least one of the cars, jewelry, the UTV Kabota Tractor, chainsaws, concrete cutter and the air compressor.
According to ABC Local, Floyd has seven felony drug and weapons charges but more could be added. He is still in police custody with bail set at $400,000. A third person, Honey Walsh, 29, is being sought for the case as well.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 6:53pmI don’t care what they found, this was OVER REACH. They were within their rights to issue a warrent for his arrest. They could have even called in some dogs and a helicopter (just look how over board they go on one guy in other parts of California) — he couldn’t have gotten THAT far, how over the regulation weight are these officers? All that would have bee nacceptable.
But it’s worrisome that the police can get a warrent and not just arrest you, but start going through you entire house, with no fore knowledge of items that might be illegal to have, to search for anything at all, then start searching the entire property outside. I don’t care what he had. They were their to arrest him from fleeing from the law. And were there arrents for the arrest of the people at his house? ’cause being in his house isn’t exactly illegal, regardless of whether he ran from the cops. Since when is suspicion of some type of POSSIBLE guilt, by mere presence? Are we going to start allowing police to arrest people in houses when someboy in that household steals something? Flees the scene of a crime? Hit and run? Where does this end? Where was the probable cause, because I don’t see it. He ran way. Get a warrent, arrest him, go back to HQ and book him.
There’s got to be some rights and law infringments here. He should consult a lawyer.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 6:32pmTypical of HuffPo. The story here is that dude had almost 24 stolen guns, drugs, and other stolen stuff, and the lead of the story is “OMG OVER 100 GUNS!!”
Then later, the author makes the unqualified statement that “There has been some speculation that Floyd was intent on selling the weapons on the black market.” Speculation BY WHOM? And selling weapons “on the black market” aka “in private party sales that are generally completely legal”? How is that germane to the article?
Yellow journalism at its worst.

Now if you read this exact story in the mainstream press you would be fuming mad and contend that the “media” loves to print stories like this to enhance the issue of gun control.
But look who’s website this is on? Yes folks you truly are blinded by false prophets, the only prophet of which, is made off of you, and by them.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 5:34pmWhere do stupid catch phrases like “legal owners” and “law abiding citizen” come from? Does any one in this country realize that if you are an American citizen, you are legally entitled to have a gun of any kind for any reason you want? No one in this country owes ANYONE an explanation on why they need or want a gun. Now, how many people in this country are actually “law abiding citizens”? If youve ever broken the speed limit, or didnt wear your seat belt, or ran a stop sign, or taste tested anything in the grocery store or any of the other myriad things that are against the law, THEN YOU ARE NOT A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN. Which doesnt matter because luckily, you dont have to be a “law abiding citizen” in this country to enjoy the benefits of being a citizen. If you owe no debt to society, what is the problem?

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 4:42pmMost of these posts miss the entire point…. THE GUY IS A DRUG Grower/Manufacturer residing in an area of LAWLESSNESS and whic populated by a totally NON-LAW ABIDING Counter-culture. He IS NOT a prepper, collector, or 2nd Amendment activist he is a thief AND a criminal (drugs). If you venture too far off the main highways in this VERY UNIHABITED region, you are taking your life in your hands. Firefighters have come under fire on many occaisions and suffered one fatality and four serious/critical injuries on one incident related to a localized drug war . None of you can grasp the fact that millions of acres in Northern California are under the control of folks like this guy. Get a GRIP… all people with guns are not of the same intentions. I have my own “retreat” and am a gun owner/collector from way back, so I am not condemning this a##wipe based on the possession of firearms. He is one of the folks who will have guns no matter what laws are passed (me too), the difference being that he has no regard for your possessions or safety.

Yea right! This wreaks of disinformation to paint the liberty movement in a negative light. The flaming lib boys at the Humboldt Country Sheriff’s department put their entire “evidence lock up” stock in this cave for a photo op by the Communist shill Huffington Post and framed it all on this stoop. These guns are from last months buy back program LMAO.

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 4:09pmI realize that the good and kindly morons who run the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia view incarcerating serial felons for most of the rest of their lives is cruel and unusual punishment, unless they’ve offended a celebrity or liberal politician, but this guy needs to be dropped into a really deep hole someplace. Then they could backfill the hole with lots of rocks and dirt right away. They could put his compatriots in the same hole and remove any children to proper care and attention so that another generation of thieves wouldn’t be taught how to steal.

If there was no criminal act here. If he was a law abidin citizen, would any of those items, if obtained legally, no matter how many you had, would that be illegal in itself?

VERY TRUE… Which is EXACTLY WHY I said that is a LAST RESORT TACTIC.. When death is THE ONLY alternative…. To attempt to take anything in a situation like that has GREAT risks…
I don’t like the idea for the following reasons;
1. It is dangerous, and getting killed to ensure survival sake is counter-productive.
2. It takes things from others that need it (not cool in my opinion, but preferable over resigning myself and my loved ones to death)…
Keep Smart and prepared (as it sounds you are)…. And here’s hoping that we NEVER have to “Survive”….

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 2:43pmOld Ryan was getting into his own version of an entrepreneurship. He was probably stealing and buying guns for a while. Now that obama is trying to take away guns any gun has greater value than before. If he is simple a survivalists then he has too many guns unless he plans on arming a whole militia, ….he has overdone it. Find a few guns….preferably the same caliber. Get used to them and get sufficient ammo for it. Take care of them.and they will take care of you. If you gather too many guns you will have storage problem, an ammo gathering problem, and you will get the government’s attention. Two to three guns are enough to meet your needs even in a war torn America.

They chase the suspect in a car chase, where he gets away, yet they magically know it was him in the vehicle and get a warrant for his property.
