Another Reason Why It’s a Bad Idea to Break Into a Texas Home: Armed Elderly Man Kills Home Intruder

Dallas News | myFOXdfw.com

An armed elderly man in Dallas shot and killed a suspected burglar after finding him trying to break into his Dallas home this week. However, he was also forced to defend his actions after the would-be robber’s family showed up at his home.

The homeowner, a repeat burglary victim, found 33-year-old Deyfon Pipkins attempting to climb in the house through the window and fired at least one shot at the criminal, hitting his target.

Dallas police Sgt. Calvin Johnson told KDFW-TV that the homeowner is covered by the so-called “Castle Doctrine,” which provides legal protection to gun owners in Texas and other states who are forced to use deadly force against a home intruder.

“It means they don’t actually have to retreat once someone comes in their home,” Johnson said. “You have the option of using deadly force if you believe your life is in danger.”

Once police identified the suspect as Pipkins, officers notified his family. Some of those family members showed up at the house and expressed their anger at the homeowner for not issuing a “warning.”

“He could have used a warning,” Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins’ sister-in-law, said. “He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense.”

The suspect reportedly had a extensive criminal record and had served time in prison. He was previously convicted of theft, possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespassing.

Police have not charged the homeowner with any crime, but Dallas police will now refer the case to the Grand Jury to determine whether he followed the law when he killed the home intruder.

What a shame. That older man must have been very frightened. They said the intruder had a wrap sheet, well now his life is a wrap, end of story. I love happy endings.

Lakesha Thompson and some ambulance chasing dreg will undoubtedly try to sue the home owner. I suggest the home owner sue first.

It seems to me that if he has such a criminal record that the judge already warned him not to be a Trayvon. How many does he need?

I think they should give marksmanship medals. Bronze=extremity hit, Silver=Non-Lethal Torso shot, Gold=Kill Zone or lethal torso shot.

Put that in their castle doctrine and home robberies will stop altogether.

The robber’s family is lucky, had it been China, they’d have been charged for the expended round of ammo, of course, the government would’ve kept the money.

That woman who was adamant that the shooter warn the criminal……well her kinda thinking allowed the criminal to think what he was doing is excusable; she should cry because her thought pattern accelerated the punks death.

Why would I give warning ? To allow the criminal to shoot me first ? You think I got a death wish or something?

On more Black on Black crime. Sheesh……if these stats don’t tell you what a welfare state brings about, I don’t know what will.

“Everybody deserves a second chance.” Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins’ sister-in-law, said.

Seems like the guy already used up his “second chance” by the third time, the fourth time, the fifth time, and so on. The burglar has a very long rap sheet, which means that he has had MANY chances to walk the straight line.

The elderly man should be rewarded for taking out the “garbage”.

My family left Brasil in the 1960′s to get away from Mandingo crime, now Mandingo crime is again a threat, this time it’s here in once safe America.

To all you poor whites in America that have to live with Mandingo’s, this is what Sao Paulo looks like so in a way welcome to Brasil !

In a few years as they breed more and crime gets worse, I’ll be saying – welcome to South Africa without ever having to leave your home.

And that is why low information obamaphone minority voters shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Mark my words, her remarks will soon be the normal mode of thinking by the “poor”. Its not your house, you owed him some of your stuff cuz he’s poor. At the very least you owed him a warning shot.and that kids is the problem with allowing people to vote who do not own property, they have no skin in the game, elect people who promise to give them more by taking from YOU.

I wont go so far as to say “those who don’t own property” ….but I will say those who don’t pay any taxes shouldn’t be allowed to vote. They surely have no skin in the game.

Ex, not only that, but you should have to take a civics test. Each voter gets 10 random civics questions from a large pool. Miss one, you get 90% of a vote. Miss 9, you get 10% of a vote.

    Two facts of nature.

Texas, get caught comitting a crime, big jail time or death penalty.

Texas, any home worth breaking into has an armed homeowner with a gun and willing to use it, legally.

Must have been extremely low IQ not to know this.

What fine products of public education! The old feller’s already proven he’s a gunslinger willing to do what needs to be done and the dead perps kin shows up at his house to give him some crap!
He should have given Lakesha the warning shot she wanted.

Maybe his relatives should have warned the burglar that he could be shot at when he broke into homes. Maybe his relatives should have warned he homeowner in advance so he could have called the police prior to him perpetrating the crime. I say this in jest for all you liberals reading. Warnings are useless to these criminals. It is obvious from his record. He had committed several crimes in the past and did not learn a thing. Police only clean up the mess. They can’t stop the act from happening. When seconds count police are only minutes away. The first call should be 357 and then 911. Problem solved. I do pray for the homeowner and the family of the criminal. Both have lost in this ordeal.
