Another Reason Why It’s a Bad Idea to Break Into a Texas Home: Armed Elderly Man Kills Home Intruder

An armed elderly man in Dallas shot and killed a suspected burglar after finding him trying to break into his Dallas home this week. However, he was also forced to defend his actions after the would-be robber’s family showed up at his home.

The homeowner, a repeat burglary victim, found 33-year-old Deyfon Pipkins attempting to climb in the house through the window and fired at least one shot at the criminal, hitting his target.

Dallas police Sgt. Calvin Johnson told KDFW-TV that the homeowner is covered by the so-called “Castle Doctrine,” which provides legal protection to gun owners in Texas and other states who are forced to use deadly force against a home intruder.

“It means they don’t actually have to retreat once someone comes in their home,” Johnson said. “You have the option of using deadly force if you believe your life is in danger.”

Once police identified the suspect as Pipkins, officers notified his family. Some of those family members showed up at the house and expressed their anger at the homeowner for not issuing a “warning.”

“He could have used a warning,” Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins’ sister-in-law, said. “He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense.”

The suspect reportedly had a extensive criminal record and had served time in prison. He was previously convicted of theft, possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespassing.

Police have not charged the homeowner with any crime, but Dallas police will now refer the case to the Grand Jury to determine whether he followed the law when he killed the home intruder.

Typical response from the urban obama supporters, they blame the victim . The family should be forced to clean up any and all body fluid and blood AND clean the gun he had to fire to protect his property from the savage.

and to the family of the “eternal dirt nap” guy, I pray you never have to go through something like

These crimes are repeated by the same few 100 people or so in ab area like oak cliff. Many of those slide to other suburbs to do their ‘job’. Crime just dropped about 30 or 40 home invasions a year in Oak cliff. Another 40 or so in neighboring towns. He met his destiny.

  BTW– Dallas ‘dropped’ crime rates by refusing to report many crimes for many new reasons. Got that after a black chief came up with this brainchild. He refused to report to the Mayor’s crime task force once a week, and so was fired under cries of ‘racism’.

The warning is the law, any one crawling in a window is a threat to my life. That family knew if their kid had a warning he would have killed the old man. They just want to set up a law suit so they can make up the lost money of not getting his stuff. They better not go back, they are a treat to his life and he can shoot them also, be careful.

I am familiar with a lot of people who usually comment on the Blaze so I know how most of you really feel. I myself at this point can’t see any humor in this article. Even if it’s “sarcastic” humor. This world is getting much too dangerous and I am seeing more and more scenarios where criminals and their family’s are beginning to have more rights then law abiding citizens. Followed the law???? What the intruder did was not follow the law!!! There should be not question about who is right and who is wrong! I truly feel for this man who has done nothing except to defend his home and family and now he has to wait and see if they can find a way to charge him with a crime??? This is absolute total BS!

  You are correct, it is scary that even in an open and close scenario like this they look to see if they can charge the decent citizen with a crime for ridding society of the dirtbag. I guess if anyone ever breaks into my house I will shoot them, cut them into little pieces and throw them piece by piece into the nearest river and let the fish take care of disposing of the evidence. How did we get to the point that criminals have more rights than the homeowner they are trying to rob?

Read the second amendment you crazy liberals and family members of criminals you want to continue protecting and there is your warning. Most or at least half of the US go by that amendment and consider that your warning if you decide to come through our windows or doors uninvited to take anything that don’t belong to you….other-words “Thou shalt not steal” a commandment you should abide by…and I go for the “Eye for an eye” verse if I put my eyes on you before you put your eyes on me. This would be a case when you liberals could say the gun killed your family member bc he met my gun as he was coming through my window.

Just when I thought I had heard it all…now the criminals want a warning before you kill them…go figure.

Let the fact that you are trespassing on a property where you have not been invited be a warning. Let the locked doors and windows be a warning.

Why don’t the criminals just go get a job…then they won’t need to die while committing a crime.

What? I have to warn the criminals’ relatives that I will shoot them if they come to do me harm? Okay. You are all warned. If your criminal relatives come to do me harm , I will shoot them.
