Bob Beckel Argues College Women Dont Need to Carry Guns

During a discussion about concealed carry laws on college campuses, “The Five” co-host Bob Beckel questioned whether women really need to carry firearms for self-defense because “when was the last time you heard about a rape on campus?”

Beckel said if you allow students to carry guns on campus, there is a greater chance for shootings.

“If you eliminate the opportunity for anyone to have a gun at all, you’re telling the bad guys, there’s an area that no one is carrying a gun,” co-host Eric Bolling said.

That’s when Beckel asked: “When was the last time you heard about a rape on campus?”

“What are you talking about, it’s rampant,” Bolling shot back.

Co-host Dana Perino pointed out that date rape is a particularly big problem for women in college.

“Date rape, yeah that’s one thing…but you gonna take a gun out and shoot your date?” Beckel asked.

“Maybe you should,” co-host Greg Gutfeld remarked.

Co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle was more definitive. She said “If your date is a rapist, you shoot them.” Watch the segment via Fox News below:

Beckel has apologized for the remarks. Via Politico:

“It’s a horrible, horrendous issue. Simply put, rape is rape. Whether it’s date rape or it’s somebody coming in off the campus trying to rape somebody else. I very strongly feel that way,” Beckel said on Fox’s ‘The Five.’ “So, I just want to straighten the record out on that. I simply was trying to make — there was not a distinction to make here. It simply was that date rape is rape, and that is, by any other definition, rape is rape.”

It is really funny to watch FOX now and “The Five” with Bob the worthless letting us all know what he thinks. WHO CARES. He is a nothing….They should just get rid of him and then the show might be worth watching. Such a shame to think they had Beck on in the same time slot and now they have this dribble. A good question to ask is if FOX is really for helping the conservatives move forward than why do they let “Progressive Insurance” advertise on their shows. We all know that “Spooky dude” owns that Corp.

As a graduate from a large Ohio university(Buckeyes ring a bell?) in the 70′s, rapes along with other violent assaults happened w/ alarming frequency on campus, in dorms, and very often in near off campus locations. Know follks who are still at the Univ. and they say the violence has never been curtailed, but oh yes, this school as well as the rest of coleges do everything to cover it up as able. No parent wants to hear the truth about rapes and crime on their kiddies campuses.

There was a rape on my daughter’s campus at the beginning of the 2013 school year. The colleges don’t broadcast these accounts but the student got expelled. He lived in my daughter’s dorm.The same school had a rape at another time and they did not expel the student. A judge in Oxford Ohio is in trouble for sealing up incidents on the college campus. Just because you don’t hear about it, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Libs think they know everything….

What an infuriating comment by Beckel. I shouldn’t be surprised though. If you don’t see sex as anything more than a bodily function, like say a sneeze, then of course you wouldn’t see rape as something from which women should protect themselves.

And the idea that a woman should shoot a stranger, but not a date–as if one rape was worse than the other–is why date rape is so prevalent on college campuses. There are too many men like Beckel who believe date rape isn’t really rape.

Seriously…. When was the last time Blob Beckle was confronted by someone bigger and stronger than him and about ready to rape him? These liberals say its a woman’s right to have an abortion (kill an innocent child) to save our lives, but we don’t have the right to save our lives by shooting and killing a criminal? Beckel is a joke and Fox is a laughing stock for having him on. He may have had a position in the White House decades ago but that does not make him a “commentator” of any merit today. He is ignorant of the culture outside of the world inside his own mind.

Concealed carry on campus does not need a reason folks. Its sad that antis believe that while I stand across the street from campus I have the (what’s left) entire Constitution to protect me but when I walk across the street I have only the rights they want me to have. The simple desire of wanting to carry is reason enough.
