Have You Heard the WWE’s Wildly Racist ‘Tea Party’ Wrestling Character Named Jack Swagger?
UPDATE: WWE’s Offensive ‘Tea Party’ Wrestler Arrested for DUI, Possession of Weed
–

(Photo: WWE)
Many conservatives were disgusted after the WWE debuted a “Tea Party” character in Jack Swagger to fight against World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio for the top title April 7.
Cage Side Seats describes him as an “American with twisted values on what his country should look like, complete with a xenophobic and slightly racist manager named Zeb Colter.” The WWE website simply says he’s “hell-bent on fixing everything about them that is ‘broken.’”
Swagger, heaving his muscles and struggling to pronounce every word through the sweat, introduced Colter as a “great American” last week.
Colter, complete with a handlebar mustache, continued:
Fellow Americans! I got a question for ya! What is wrong with America? Zeb Colter knows what’s wrong! Jack Swagger knows what’s wrong! But I think most Americans have forgotten what is wrong with America. Years ago, me and this man’s daddy laid in a jungle in Vietnam with bullets whizzin’ by our heads. You know why? Because we were real patriots, we were real Americans.
And now I look around and I see a country I don’t even recognize. I see people with faces not like mine. I see people that I don’t even know what they’re saying. They can’t even talk to me. And I look around and I think, where did all these people come from? But most importantly I think, how do we get rid of ‘em? We the people! Americans, real Americans, know the truth! Zeb Colter knows the truth! Jack Swagger knows the truth! Because this is the land of the free and the home of the brave, not the land of the free and whoever wants to cross our borders! … It’s our country and it’s our land, to protect and defend! [Emphasis added]
Here’s video of the exchange, filled with shouts of “We the People!” from Swagger (skip to about 1:15):
According to WrestleZone, WWE announcers joked that Swagger has received fan mail from Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Alex Jones.
Twitchy aggregated some of the best responses in an article titled: “WWE’s racist Tea Party villain as realistic as pro wrestling.”
“Only the @wwe can think a ‘tea party’ wrestler 4 years late is a good idea,” @brodigan wrote. @MarkWierzbicki added along the same lines: “WWE parodying the Tea Party. Only four years behind. Not bad! #RAW.”
@j_millerdark concluded: “Yeah, the WWE is back to being racist. The Real American against the wealthy Mexican whose fighting for the poor.”
Here’s a statement on immigration by Swagger and Colter, complete with a Don’t Tread on Me flag:
The entire scenario leaves many wondering why the WWE would choose to create such a character. The WWE is typically thought of as having a greater viewership on the right than the left, though that’s not backed up by any statistics, and the family that started the network has a longstanding connection to the Republican Party.
Linda McMahon, who developed the WWE with her husband, has run numerous times for office as a Republican in her home state of Connecticut. She most recently ran to replace retiring Senator Joe Lieberman in 2012, but lost to Chris Murphy.
Responding to the criticism, the WWE released a statement: “WWE is creating drama centered on a topical subject that has varying points of view to develop a rivalry between two characters. This storyline in no way represents WWE’s political point of view. One should not confuse WWE’s storytelling with what WWE stands for, similar to other entertainment companies such as Warner Bros., Universal Studios or Viacom.”
So what do you think? Is the sketch all in good fun, or is it an offensive jab at Tea Partiers and conservatives?

You are correct, there are a lot of non Christian left wing nut cases where racism is justified as part of liberal plantation forced indoctrination programs. The racist christians you mention are democrats too. Yes, there are stupid christians, jews, atheists and of all race and ethnicity that use the democratic party as cover to practice evil (which includes but is not limited to racism) and stupidity (in general) of all kinds. You all use the tried and true ‘Three Stooge finger pointing routine’ to blame non democrats, to throw the uniformed off your trail. Try to convice the rest of us a black guys hot dog cart distroyed by liberal union thugs is a non liberal practice and isn’t racist.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 10:23amThis is great. It allows the Left to perpetuate their own delusions about us amongst themselves. And yes, many Leftists watch WWE, don’t let their airs of superiority fool you, just think of your standard Union hooligan and then you know, yes, they watch WWE.
So let them continue to think we’re the caricature that they’ve invented. Let them think we’re stupid, redneck idiots. That’s fine, as it gives them a false sense of security and gives us a very large tactical advantage if they ever decide to marshal up their slavering armies to try and harm us.
They’re going to be shocked when they find out that the medical doctor down the road, the upper middle class small business owner in town, and the computer programmer in the subdivision is who we are.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:04pmWWE has a huge hispanic audience. They even broadcast simultaneously in Spanish using Spanish speaking announcers. This “storyline” is tailored to appeal to that large viewing demographic but it’s been done in such a clumsy and hamfisted way that it brought in the tea parties on an issue they aren’t really ideologically part of..illegal immigration..and they’re being portrayed as racists (a ploy used unsuccessfully by the left as a means to diminish the political muscle the tea party enjoyed in 2010). For instance, one recalls the “black caucus” on it’s way to vote for Obamacare who claimed to be have been spat on by tea partiers yet with an army of sympathetic reporters, cameramen and “journalists” surrounding them, not one nanosecond of video, a pixel of a picture or a smidgen of a saliva stain exists of this “magic loogie”. I guess we just have to take a racially charged caucus’ word for it.
Linda McMahon is not a decision maker for the show so her activity with the Republican party really has no bearing on the writing and production of the show. I can assure you though that the more publicity this is given, the more overt the racism will be portrayed.
Having said all that…that Gadsen flag is still d@mn cool.

I didn’t claim that there were not intelligent people outside of our veldt. Rather, that there are loads of intelligent people in our camp, but the Left is absolutely blind to it and cannot see it if you slap them in the face with it. Those outside the camp, if they are actually intelligent, will lose their media created bias the moment they encounter some of us who are far above what they thought we were, intellect wise. The cognitive dissonance created by believing that tea party types are represented by the doofus in this article, then meeting somebody like yourself, or me, or Gonzo or 01100011 (dang it I hope I spelled that right, lol) or any of the people I mentioned that I’ve met in real life, will shock them out of their stupor I’m certain.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 9:36amOh lord.
Glenn, sir…LOL. I can’t find the proper words but I’ll give it a shot anyhow.
A) the “racist character” is Zeb Colter, who is the mouthpiece for Jack Swagger, likely because Jack has a pretty brutal lisp and pretty much zero mic skills. He also happens to be the #1 contender for the World Title.
B) The current World Champ is Alberto del Rio. Sound Hispanic? Yup. He is. And any image of a charismatic champion he has depends on the person watching it.
So, you have two characters who, going against each other, wouldnt manage to get a very good reaction from the crowd, simply due to the fact that they don’t really care.
Best way to fix it? Tap into the current events section and spin it that way. WWEs never shied away from doing the race thing: Nation of Domination, Disciples of the Apocalypse, Los Boricuas, blahblahblah etc. in the 90s, for example.
Theyve been doing it forever. You’ve got to have a bad guy and a good guy. WWE appears to be doing a lot more tours in Mexico and South America. They need a Latino champion. They need a bad guy to fight him.
Easy way out? Sure.
Effective? Debatable.
Deliberately done to make the Tea Party look bad: Doubt it.

Anyways, ever since they gave complete creative control over to Stephanie McMahon, the WWE has just been a train wreck. (You all remember when they had HHH having sex with a corpse? Ya, that was Steph’s idea).
WWE storylines thoughout the mid to late 2000′s have just been a bunch of late fads and them hyping up of a bunch of late genres in a vain attempt to make wrestling seem mainstream and cool. I don’t think Vince has ever thought that professional wrestling could just be cool in and of itself. This despite the fact that during the 90′s (attitude era), wrestling had the highest ratings (in some cases even higher than football) and they were able to get over on original ideas and characters (guys like the rock and stone cold steve austin), not just a bunch of copied out-of-date fads.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 10:07amI’ve turned on WWE a few times to see the current characters. It use to be fun to get a bunch of guys together, hit the bar, then watch a live (WWF) event in the big city. The characters over the last 10+ years are so stupid, it’s not funny. Stephanie McMahon absolutely destroyed that organization. She has no idea what she’s doing. So many stupid, boring, plane dumb to everyone characters and written scenes. These characters spend 20 minutes on a microphone trying to recite lines that are NOT funny, then they finally wrestle. When they talk, it’s time to get a beer or potty break. When we use to go in the late 80′s early 90′s, these guys had hilarious insulting lines. This Stephanie McMahon stuff is just retarded. Hard to believe they could fill an auditorium. Everyone I know talks about The Old Days of pro wrestling… they never talk about any character from the last 15 years. Anyway, WWE can F Off for trying to brainwash the really young kids and uneducated minorities.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 10:33amI remember when my Monday’s consisted of getting home from school, then doing homework immediately so I could watch Nitro from 7pm-9pm, and Raw from 9pm-11pm. If I missed an episode or PPV I would litterally get upset to the point of tears. That’s how good wrestling was (and I was just a kid too). Then Vince bought out the competition and put his family in charge of running the shows, and as fate would have it, things started sucking.
You’re right, Steph has no busuiness being in charge of anything. During the attitude era you had storyline writers like Vince Russo and Jim Ross who actually had the courage to tell Vince that his ideas were dumb. With Daddy’s little girl running creative it pretty much allows Vince’s lame ideas carte blanche to have their way. This is why the ratings have dropped from 9.0′s to 2.5′s. No one cares about this crap anymore.

You’re right not to compare SNL with the WWE – when Vince McMahon ran the show, the WWE was much wittier, more on-target and infinitely funnier than anything SNL came up with. This was the guy, after all, who had Rowdy Roddy Piper insult the then-mayor of Cincinnati, Jerry Springer, at a full-house in Cinci (frankly, the epithets Piper hurled were pretty accurate.) It’s obviously gone downhill pretty quickly with Linda at the helm – she should have stayed in the accounting department instead of trying to be the creative end of the spectrum. Both SNL and WWE depend heavily on humor, and at this point, neither seem to deliver.

Do you have am and pm personalities and what is your fixation on scouts and tents? Seek real, actual ptsd counseling for your fallujah2 flashbacks and perchance seek employment after all 12 steps have been conquered. You can do it, just fixate on one personality and run with it. Just say no to drugs and an asinine liberal platform and you can almost achieve what you did in fallujah2.

To add insult to injury…the cretinous WANGO/YOURSENSEI/MONICNE is playing footsies with you while bleating about “shooting stuff”…without acknowledging your adulation and fondness for OWS and it’s destruction. Posted on February 20, 2013 at 3:50pmLOL…did you make a special effort to slink back onto the thread before your usual late night “come back” MEETEEYORES? My how brave of you.
May I ask why you’re distracting from your support for OWS? Of course you were posting as JZS back then and your footsie friend YOURSENSEI was HORSEDANCER back then (do you lefties get together to coordinate this multi-screenname schtick of yours or is it a lefty troll character flaw?). You sang OWS’ praises as they destroyed public and private property, defecated in public, raped, demanded free stuff…ad nauseum. Yet you believe the tea parties are violent and subversive? Really? Perhaps I don’t see the violence of the tea parties when they clean up after themselves at their rallies? Perhaps it’s better if they emulate your beloved OWS and trash the place and all surrounding businesses and leave that destruction for others to pay for and clean up? Yes?
By the way you never answered me….can you provide the policies George W Bush signed into law that led to the mortgage crisis of 08-09? You ran away last time I asked you to provide them and have been ever since. You did accuse him of creating the mortgage crisis did you not? Be a good troll and provide the policies he signed into law for me. There’s a good troll.
Uh uh…MEETEEYORES/JZS…interviews with David Plouffe don’t count.
I’ll be waiting..shall we say the customary 11:00pm tonight for your answer?

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 6:07pmAww…look at that isnt’ that cute? JZS/MEETEEYORES is trying to distract and lie his way out of his idiotic comments.
Yes I read the article champ. I also read your post attempting to smear the tea parties as racists and violent along with your footsie friend’s YOURSENSEI. And apparently you don’t understand why I mentioned the irony in your supporting Occupy Wall Street and all the actual and demonstrable destruction of property, rapes, drug use, public defecation, and tax payer costs perpetuated by the human debris within it’s ranks. So let me get this straight…you have a problem with lefty fabricated racism and violence of the tea parties but not with the real world violence and destruction of Occupy Wall Street? Seriously?
Now…rather than keep running away from your statement of a few weeks ago..have the courage to provide the policies George W Bush signed into law that caused the mortgage crisis. I’ve asked you numerous times for this but all I get is the same running away from you. You were very vocal and clear about accusing Bush a few weeks ago but everytime I’ve asked you to provide those policies you’ve bravely run away or attempt to deflect as you’re doing here again. You made the accusation, please provide the policies. It should be easy shouldn’t it?
By the way…that mexican/ MTV thing? You’re going to need much better material than that champ.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 7:54pmMr or Ms METEROS,
This is what you must know:
That AVENGERKKK is a hoot, ain’t he? A real dervish of cognitive dissonance. He’s been my own personal dingleberry for months now. You see, it all started back during the election when I told him of a personal encounter I had with some Bain boys. I was a desk clerk at a fancy hotel where they stayed and I was privy to their mouthy sense of privilege and faux corporate machismo.
Well, Avengerkkk did’t take kindly to that because it reminded him that he never had an real life experiences beyond walking to 7/11 to get his can of Skoal. (He deeply resents any level of success or self reliance. For example I am happily and wealthily retired, which send shim into a tizzy.)
Anyway, as a result of hi narrow and stunted existence, he is incapable of sharing anything truly interesting or provocative. Instead, he latches on to random bits of purpose – the fact that I’ve had more than one name around here, or his pathological need to defend W, the worst president in American history. And get this little bits of bone stuck in his molars and he can’t spit em out, so he claims them to by “points of argumentation” when they are nothing more than the tiny maelstrom of a weak mind and shattered spirit.
My advice, sit back and enjoy it. That’s what I do. (Isn’t that right, Avengecake.)
It is so.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 9:16pmTeacher, you are as wise as AvengerKKK is uniformed, uneducated and uncouth. I’ve noticed many of the same personality characteristics in KKK that you have. She or he has an unusual compulsion to try to revisit arguments she has lost, hoping for a better outcome the second or third or fifth time around. Partly I believe that’s a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder, and partly as you say because of the dissonance she experiences when questioned about the irrational, uniformed, uneducated and uncouth positions she takes. Simply seeing a given username evokes the subconscious Pavlovian response to return over and over to arguments she felt shamed to own. Rather than learn from her mistakes, she goes back over and over to the same thing, hoping for a better outcome. It’s classic, and shows why she never accomplished anything more than pay rent and food. My guess is she’s been on the public dole more than a few times, like many in the TP. Unlike you and me, KKK is the quintessential loser who feels proud to identify with the billionaires, while looking down on those she has the most in common with.
To you KKK I’d ask this: what is it your don’t like about brown people again? Or are you one of those people who think Jews commit all the white collar crimes? Sorry, but I can hardly be expected to keep track of all the prejudice here, and who hates what group or groups.
