These Four Sheriffs Are Taking a Bold Stand Against Gun Control: ‘An Unarmed Public Is a Tyrant’s Playground’

Meet Four Sheriffs Who Are Refusing to Infringe Upon Your Second Amendment Rights

(TheBlaze TV)

Four sheriffs from across the country joined Glenn Beck on TheBlaze TV Wednesday to discuss the current push for more gun control legislation in the United States. Beck called them the “bravest sheriffs in all of America” for standing up for the Second Amendment and refusing to even consider disarming Americans, even under pressure.

“You have a right to own the firearms of your choice,” Beck said. “That right shall not be infringed. It’s not about hunting, it’s not about target practice, it’s not even about rape or home defense. It is about an armed public being necessary to keep people free. An unarmed public is a tyrant’s playground.”

Beck argued it is important to become educated but also to know who is on the side of the American people when it comes to the Second Amendment. He also encouraged viewers to contact their county sheriff to find out where he or she stands on the Second Amendment.

Joining Beck were Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, who garnered national attention for asking residents to arm themselves and get firearms training in case they ever found themselves in a dangerous situation in which the police may not arrive in time. Also in Beck’s Dallas studio were Sheriff Glenn Palmer of Grant County, Oregon, Sheriff Steve Cox of Livingston County, Missouri and Sheriff Tim Mueller from Linn County, Oregon.

The four sheriffs represent 484 other sheriffs who have banded together and vowed to keep the oath they took to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

“What I want to say is, that we as a nation are facing some very difficult time right now,” Sheriff Palmer said. “Our Constitution is very near and dear to me, and I believe it’s under attack. And it’s still a living document, and as police officers we still have to abide by the Constitution.”

Sheriff Clarke said the Second Amendment is about “liberty.”

“The Government doesn’t get to…say how people can and should defend themselves,” he said. “I trust law-abiding citizens, I always have. And government has to learn to start letting go and trusting citizens.”

Sheriff Cox agreed, saying Washington will continue to go after guns and it is important that someone “takes a stand.”

“We have to put our foot down whenever we see something that’s wrong,” Cox added. “Sometimes if you lead, you may stand alone.”

“If not us, than who?” asked Sheriff Mueller.

Recapping TheBlaze’s in depth coverage on gun control, Beck also went over some of the current gun control efforts from across the country:

I have a mental image of the trolls that come to this site. Adam Lanza looking weaklings, who sit at their computers in their bedrooms with the obligatory Che posters on the wall, thinking so highly of themselves, yet never being tested in the real world, among real men and women. No, these little softies have spent their adolescence and young adulthood in a classroom taking notes and joining student groups for a “better world”. They make me sick, spouting the same old progressive crap I heard since I was an adolescent in the ’60′s. They have read books written by more successful versions of themselves, and were easily indoctrinated and think they can in turn indoctrinate someone here as if we were some little college freshmen who just arrived from Smalltown, U.S.A. Here’s a little advice: Most of us here are older and have developed discernment. We can tell if something is good or bad and nothing some bored little kid who probably couldn’t get laid if he paid for it, will change our minds. As I see it, you are nothing more than pests. You enjoy the attention, just like the bad little boys you are, and you don’t care if it’s negative attention, so long as you are the center of the universe. A little advice: try not to drink any water before bedtime.

These are some good men. Anbody who thinks that Obama can executive order the guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. This is just a way for the feds to assume more control over the people.

It has nothing to do with gun control and everything to do with giving Obama more power. And yes Nesmond you are 100% correct.

The media has been using the typical tactic to portray anyone who disagrees with their point of view as being without passion and common sense. The reality is that if you believe in the Constitution, especially the second amendment, somehow you are now the enemy. This whole gun control debate has become about “feeling better” about the tragic shooting in Newtown. There is no law that will make any rational person “feel better” about what happened. No law would have kept Adam Lanza from getting a gun. Just look at this video on how the bully pulpit is being used by Obama on the sequestration deal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RExLzaQ3NMU

You will not change its mind and it will simply resort to twisting your (all of our) reply/ies around or deceitfully take it out of context! Not to make a point, but to agitate. I don’t have time to go to left wing liberal/progressive sites to simply cause trouble, and I reject their insistence on coming here simply to rile good people up. Step #1: Use your real name on posts and stand proudly behind your name and your thoughts.

Step #2: Join organizations like “Oathkeepers” and bond with folks who have a love of this country and our God-given rights.

Step #3: Sweep the ineffectual politicians of both parties out of office and turn the reins of power over to thoughtful, fiscal and social conservatives like Rand Paul.

Any sane person can see how this is going. We have a government that has usurped powers, choked off our energy, made energy prices soar ( just like Obama said he would ) Taxed, then taxed somemore, took over health care, that already is going to cost over twice what they claimed, complete with death panels, control student loans, wait till u see the ajustable rates kick in. It was gov policies that destroyed the housing market. 16 trillion in deficit debt, and 150 trillion in unfunded entitlements…are u kidding me…we all know the increments of gun control that has lead to total confiscation in other countries and the horrors and tyrany, and mass murder thats followed… How can any sane person not draw a line in the sand for a government? Any body that makes light of this prediciment we are in, or argues in defense of more gun control laws that make us less able to deal with a rouge government, isn’t smart or educated… they re really, really, really STUPID!

For those who were NEVER taught this: (Specifically the Che/Chavez/Castro indoctrinated college “students.”)

History of Gun Control and Government

      1911 – Government in Turkey disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1915 – 1917 murdered 1.5 million Armenians.

      1929 – Government in Russia disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1929 – 1953 murdered 20 million Russians.

      1935 – Government in China disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1948 – 1952 murdered 20 million Chinese.

1938 – Government in Germany disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1939 – 1945 murdered 16 million Jews, Hungarian Gypsies, Mentally disabled, physically disabled,…

1956 – Government in Cambodia disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1975 – 1977 murdered 1 million Educated people, identified as those wearing glasses.

1964 – Government in Guatamala disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1964 – 1981 and murdered 100,000 Mayan Indians.

I am so proud of the local Sheriffs for standing up for the Second Amendment! We have one of those in our County as well. But, asking the government to trust the law abiding citizens as the these Noble Sheriffs do is a little naive. The law abiding citizens with guns are the people the government fears the most. Give ME A BREAK. This government is trying, and unfortunately succeeding in transforming this country a third world puddle of impoverished peons that look to big brother for any snippet of tranquility like an obama phone!! or a bigger welfare check or more food stamps or more energy assistance or more section 8 housing or free transportation to the liquor store and maybe soon they will be furnished with pot and more drugs and then they can fatally overdose and then they won’t be a drag on society, (government). Well, the government will keep about 50% around so they can win all the so called elections…….. GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY !! And prove me wrong !! please…………….

You sir, do not have to wait around for someone to prove you wrong, for you absolutely speak truth, and truth always prevails. Obama and his cohorts in crime, and that is what they are criminals and traitors, and they are being exposed for what they are. The fools who listen to and swallow their insanity and treachery are unlikely not going to see the truth. They have been on the government tit so long that they all they know is the entitlement mentality, and they are useless to themselves or anyone else.
We must forge ahead and gather our forces to confront these hellish ghouls that are trying to take over our nation and make it into something we will not recognize nor to in any way be a part of. The day and the hour has come not too dissimilar from the trying times that our Founding Fathers have faced.
There is a saying that if we do not all hang together, we will all hang separately, and I believe that is applicable here today.
When you see what the UN Agenda 21 is trying to accomplish with the full support and empowering of the elitist progressives and which the United States has been buying into at least since dear George H W Bush bought into in the early 90′s, you begin to see the extent of the power and the intent of these so called master minds are involved – none of which is in any way good for America or her people.
One thing that they do not count upon nor factored in, is that there is one God who is observing it all

You seriously need to take the blinders if bud! Just because something is “unconstitutional,” in no way implies that the fat, bloated, power hungry government won’t do it! This administration proved that with its Obamacare. You think we white gun owning “righties” want to shoot blacks and Mexicans?!?! DUDE! Are you high or what? You say we want high capacity magazines so bad we’ll fight the government in the streets. If need be, it’s not about wants, it’s about FREEDOM!! I’m a law abiding adult with a clear conscience. I could possess any capacity magazine and I promise,NOBODY will ever be hurt on account of myself.
You may be educated, but that does NOT make you smart. I am so sick of you drones who go to college and become indoctrinated trying to tell me how to live my life and accusing me of wants and desires that you’ve made-up in your twisted mind. No sir, you don’t have a clue, not in the least.

You are so much fun and such a stereotype. I’m not really writing to you, even when I address you. I am just writing to satisfy my need for your existence to make sense. You were never really going to answer my points, I knew that and I shouldn’t be disappointed in you. Still if you read over what you wrote, you may begin to see how you failed to make a legitimate point. First, obamacare is not the example you are looking for…that was very publicly found to be constitutional. It is very well established within Congress’ powers to create that law, and even though the rhetoric you rely on says different, history and reason will bear this out. The example you should have used was the internment of japanese-american citizens during WWII…this was pretty blatant in its unconstitutionality, but permitted under the war powers doctrine. Read some history, it’s good for you. Your other points are not as stupid but monotonous and I’ve addressed them at some point or another this evening so, I’m satisfied. Finally, I remember you saying something about me, personally, thinking that I was smart or something. I get this a lot and thank you for noticing. I don’t remember what you said, but I’m pretty sure it was complementary as you easily recognized that I was more educated than you. The fact that you were clearly stunted in your education was not lost on me either. I think the government provides grants for people like you, I’ll see if I can find anything.

I don’t arbitrarily insult people to stir things up…I make points, that are elitist and over-educated and even though you never will appreciate them, are intended to be helpful because they represent a point of view that you try to completely ignore. You would probably not think libs are crazy if you understood their point of view, but you’d rather dismiss them as being insane then learn anything that might educate you too much. Reportedly a local sherrif here in Bay County, FL has said privately he won’t either. This remains to be seen. We have a big NSA base here which was mentioned in the news a few years, in quick passing like it wasn’timortant, that employees there were tasked with (my wording isn’t precise sine this was not recent, and in passing as I previously stated) going online and rebuking and defending negative comments against Obamacare[Tax].

Your illogical speech was unimpressive to say the least. No I for one will never be disarmed.

But the real answer for why they should have a “Well Traned Milita” is when an out of control government
trys to tell these Sheriffs to go house to house disarming Legal gun owners. You seem to forget or your handlers make you forget…..That gun ownership is a RIGHT not a Privilege that they can willy nilly regulate.

1 problem… they never answered what they will do if the emperor issues an EO to take guns away. What will they do if they refuse and the feds pay them a visit?

2A is all that is standing in the way of the progressives plan to fundamentally transform the USA. Remember folks their plans are not based on short term, they work on things over the long term any giving today means something bigger down the road (Beck talks about Overton Window). They are so close to their utopian nightmare they will not give up without a nasty fight. Even Mark Levin is warning about societies collapse when news hit about the feds buying more ammo cpl days ago.

Trouble is coming just a question of when…

I know that the Missouri Sheriffs including Sheriff Cox sent a letter to the White House saying that they would NOT enforce any federal law or directive that would compromise the 2nd Amendment rights of the people. In Missouri there is a bill moving through the legislature (we have a pro-gun veto-proof super majority in both sides of the legislature so it should pass) that says that it would be a felony for ANY official whether federal, state or local to enforce any law passed by Congress after 12/31/2012. Moreover, should someone try to enforce such a law, the Attorney General of the State of Missouri will take their case and defend them (if asked to do so by the citizen).

Hahaha I feel the same about libs but unless you make a mind-numbingly stupid argument I won’t be angry and I won’t hurl insults. I’m level headed.

“I realized that their opinions like my own do not matter individually . . . just like their vote (and yes, I teach my students that their vote makes no practical difference because it is fact).”

This still begs the question of why you are here. If you are frustrated by these people then leave. The more I think about it, the more I feel that you are on a trolling spree. Prove me wrong. People here also don’t like cocky elitists who think they’re better than everyone else. While I love my professors and feel that they are brilliant many in other universities, they seem to lake common sense and we here refer to them as educated idiots. They’re educated but lack common sense and are too twisted and blinded by their ideas to be pragmatic at the very least.

Also, voting is more of a duty/responsibility. The idea is to gather millions to your ideals. Will your one vote make the one difference? No. But it’s about principle really.

If you are either a juror or the judge in his case please let the bailiff know of your views so Zimmerman can actually have a fair trial by his peers as is his right.

Why don’t you? Did you know that a lot of these sheriffs have had to make big cuts in their budgets and have laid off some of their forces? You could help them very easily by fighting for higher taxes so they could keep you and your community safe. At the very least, you could directly send them your money. As an american you can stand with these government employees as they fight the good fight against the oppressive government and that majority of american socialists who voted them into office against the will of the people…but inline with the constitution which you are hoping to protect the 2nd amendment by opposing the rest of it. Good luck trying to understand what you and your compatriots are really doing.

Confiscation of legal guns from legal gun owners is unconstitutional and is not something the federal government can legally ask these sheriffs to do. Neither can the city/state/ or federal government make laws that would prohibit all guns from otherwise legally abiding citizens. This is the law and has been recognized by the supreme court in Heller v. DC and McDonald v. Chicago. I don’t have fear of gun ownership, I merely disapprove of stupidity that threatens violence to make an arbitrary point. You want your high capacity magazines so bad that you are willing to fight the federal government in the streets? I personally think that threat is dangerous but luckily I’m not black or mexican, and I own some guns. I am gonna be safe. However, historically, in this country, riots that are begun by angry white people always target minorities. But Is it fair to say the NRA and the gun rights movement is white? almost entirely.

That is a common argument, but I don’t think it is all that applicable to a right that is established in the constitution. There are well established protections that cannot be supplanted, and court cases establishing this firmly for the 2nd amendment. Do you think the 4th amendment is going to go away every time police devise a new way to search someone? Or every time they make an exception to the requirement for a warrant based on probable cause? Or, every time a court doesn’t exclude evidence that was illegally attained? The 5th amendment has limits and contours, the 6th, the 8th, the 1st…basically all of the amendments and all of those ‘rights’ are infringed upon in one way or another. No complaints from any of you. The 2nd amendment doesn’t let you have unlimited access to weapons–no uzis, no grenades, no nukes, no mortars…unless you meet very stringent guidelines. Why do argue slippery slope now when it makes sense to add a few common sense regulations? By the way, dlv, I don’t know what question you are referring to. I’m still upset with you for letting me down and being racist. and I’m here because I’m having fun…also, I do something tangential to this for a living. If you only knew;)

I realize this but this doesn’t stop people who hunger power. Not too long ago Morsi in Egypt pretty much said “to hell with the courts I am leading the charge” and tried to form a constitution without Christians and secularists. Now I realize this the U.S. and not Egypt but the laws of human nature are not at a stand still because we are in the U.S. People have been going around the constitution for years and just because the U.S. supreme court says that handguns shall not be taken away (by the wya I don’t think this enough) doesn’t mean it won’t happen. In fact, if you truly believe it’s an impossibility or extremely unlikely, you’re living in lala land.

“add a few common sense regulations?”
I’m all for common sense regulations but based on history of humanity, one step leads to another. Mayor ban everything Bloomberg is leading the way. Our founders made it pretty damn obvious that the second amendment was to protect against tyranny and progressives are so constantly trying to throw that away.

I explained why I think this somewhere earlier and I would provide the historical references to the prior riotous (revolutionary) examples of this behavior but I’m working on a bunch of ‘real’ things tonight and only stop in to respond to my critics. DL, I consider you a discussant but that requires that you provide some substance for your attacks on me, rather than this ad hoc attack on my statement. You know these comment boards as well as I do, are you saying a lot of these people aren’t looking for an opportunity to fix this country with their guns? And do you think that those people don’t blame the blacks, ‘illegals’, and muslims (I forgot about the muslims), and liberals, for the country’s problems? I think conservatives just want to be left the F alone. We are not looking for a fight and will not rile up anyone in the streets for no purpose. We will only fight if people come to take away our self-defense. We are reactionaries and not looking to prod anything. I’m a conservative libertarian. I say live and let live. I’ll let god pass the judgment. I will spread the word for those who want to hear but most of all, we Christians/Conservatives want to be left alone and progressives just won’t be satisfied until everything is out the window. So no. No one here wants violence. Are there a few kooky “conservatives” but I’m not counting them. I’m counting the sane. No one is looking for violence but if people attack us and take away our way of life, we won’t sit and take it. Done and done. Continue…

“And do you think that those people don’t blame the blacks, ‘illegals’, and muslims (I forgot about the muslims), and liberals, for the country’s problems?”

I’d say mostly liberals yes. Black people as a whole no. Muslims while many view them as a threat it’s the radicals they hate and will leave peace loving muslims alone as we want to be left alone. No Sharia law for everyone. That being said even if we disagree with liberals, no one wants to go kill them. That would be contradictory to our stance for the first amendment. It’s only the action against us that we take action.

“If they are gonna say scary things, why can’t I assume they will act on it?”
If you hear anything of the sort, it’s from the kooks and I don’t count them among conservatives because they’re as bad as the progressives. And yes, they exist on this site and I’ve spoken out against them (tonight in fact) just as I have with you. Again, regular conservatives just want to be left alone. See simple and straight forward.

      @DLV
I like when you comment, because you try to make sense and usually do. I disagree with some of it, but not all that much on this subject. The big questionable thing you said was the la la land bit, and the closest you come to my point of view is when you say “Now I realize this the U.S. and not Egypt”. I can imagine a way that the government becomes tyrannical, but it involves more division and more hatred between the right and left. It does not involve the government electing moderates and enacting moderate policy. So, from my point of view, these people and the extremists on either side are the real tyrannical threat. Also the ron paul people but I think that may be the same thing…not really sure. I could go on, but…Have you seen the other responses I’ve received? Do any of them make any sense? Did I miss one that was not idiotic?

why is anything fun? I don’t think I’m a troll but if I am, I like to think that I do it with style. I personally think that people who pick on trolls are trolls. Also, picking on trolls has gotta be a sign you are a bully…picking on someone who doesn’t fit in, where you are the clear majority. Anyway, if I’m a troll, I take pride in identifying these bullies and insulting them in thoughtful and creative ways. I find it funny that I’m the troll, but I’ve worked for hundreds of republicans and have been a significant part of the party for two decades. Ya, I’m the troll.

Nl- I can imagine a way that the government becomes tyrannical, but it involves more division and more hatred between the right and left. It does not involve the government electing moderates and enacting moderate policy.”

We can agree to this. But I am always weary. The things I see Obama doing lean towards socialism and he and many other president’s have done numerous unconstitutional things. Beck and David Barton explain why Obama’s execuive orders are unconstitutional here- http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/01/30/do-you-know-the-history-of-executive-orders-plus-find-out-which-president-has-issued-the-most/

I even told I believe on my A paper in high school of why OBama is a socialist to my liberal atheist English Teacher. So I know my stuff… again, I’m weary.

As for Ron Paul, I like him. He isn’t a threat, he is for following the constitution (which is somehow radical now). I don’t like his foreign policy but I digress. He has been one of the greatest advocates for individual liberty. If that’s extreme now, well then God help us. Yes he has some crazies but it’s his principles that count. Moving on.

Have you seen the other responses I’ve received? Do any of them make any sense? Did I miss one that was not idiotic?”
Yes, I think most are bent off of from frustration. People here perceive you as an arrogant “educated” elitist and that is a huge insult to them. IF you’re educated but lack common sense it drives people here up a wall. Cont.

Could they be worded better? Of course, but it’s all of of anger and frustration of educated elites and I guess trolls.

      why is anything fun?”
Things are fun when people aren’t antagonizing others. If you are getting jollies off of antagonizing others, it’s a sign your sick in the head. I don’t think you are but you know there is a line.

” I personally think that people who pick on trolls are trolls. Also, picking on trolls has gotta be a sign you are a bully…picking on someone who doesn’t fit in, where you are the clear majority.”

I agree to an extent. Much of it is based off of just being shocked at the astound stupidity of trolls like Encinom here. So they go after them relentlessly to make em leave. It rarely works since trolls are trolls.
Anyway, if I’m a troll, I take pride in identifying these bullies and insulting them in thoughtful and creative ways. I find it funny that I’m the troll, but I’ve worked for hundreds of republicans and have been a significant part of the party for two decades. Ya, I’m the troll.”
The internet definition of a troll is being in the minority and antagonizing the majority with ad hominem attacks with no real substance to argument. So maybe you’re a half troll. Also, people don’t like Republicans here now. Surprise surprise.
Here is an excellent example of trolling.

These trolls must be just looking for attention or like the idea that they are annoying. I’ll bet few if any conservatives or libertarians go to lefty websites to post. Do they actually think they are gonna change anyones mind? No. So why bother. What a waste of time. Sharing thoughts with like minded people I understand, arguing with people you are NEVER going to sway, I just don’t get.

Yep, quit your jobs tomorrow and get on the front lines. Your country needs you! Make sure that when those courageous american soldiers come knocking, you give them two in the head cause they are probably wearing body armor. Now when the tanks roll in, make sure to change your pants before you start running for your underground bunker.

Nl- in case of civil war, the military would also most likely be divided considering the fact that many marines would be firing on their own mothers and fathers. Most of the military is conservative and would not fire on people wanting to stand up and support the constitution and their rights.

Verce, in a few states like California (cough) it has been proposed to make owning a gun illegal and have confiscation of any gun mandatory. While these proposals have not gone any further than that it shows that in fact people are willing to consider doing it. In which case this fantasy conversation becomes reality as according to a state or even federal government that passes such a law any gun not in the hands of someone that depends on them for feeding their families will be illegal.
