The National Rifle Association (NRA) is continuing its push-back against recent gun control proposals. In a new ad called “We are America,” the organization takes aim at controversial comments made by President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton. Using quotes from both politicians, the organization’s new video lambastes perceived assaults on the Second Amendment.
After sharing quotes from Clinton and Obama that seemingly denigrate gun owners, the NRA ad goes on to make some bold proclamations, calling the aforementioned comments arrogant and encouraging Americans to stand up and defend their right to bear arms. Additionally, the voice-over delivers a fiery “reminder” to the nation’s leaders.

“The arrogance of their superiority requires this reminder: They don’t rule us. They don’t give us rights. We grant them power. They don’t make us safe,” the ad proclaims. “We pay to protect them. They don’t make us free. We’re free already. And as long as we have the Second Amendment, we always will be.”
Watch the NRA spot, below:
And here’s a transcript of the voice-over in its entirety:
In a recent closed-door speech to donors, politicians and media, Bill Clinton spoke about American gun owners: “A lot of these people … all they’ve got is their hunting and their fishing.” “Or they’ve been listening to this stuff for so long that they believe it all.” And we all remember Barack Obama’s 2008 comments to a room of San Francisco elites: “It’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion.” The arrogance of their superiority requires this reminder: They don’t rule us. They don’t give us rights. We grant them power. They don’t make us safe. We pay to protect them. They don’t make us free. We’re free already. And as long as we have the Second Amendment, we always will be. We are America and our politicians are only as powerful as we, the people allow them to be.
Clearly the NRA’s message here is that politicians like Obama and Clinton should be reminded that they work for the American people and that comments deriding gun owners are not acceptable. The organization maintains that rhetoric coming from these men, among other leaders, is an attempt to marginalize law-abiding citizens.
What do you think about the ad and the accusations presented within it? Let us know in the comments section.

Feb. 20, 2013 at 6:53pmAwesome Video! BUT THERE’S A HUGE PROBLEM WITH IT!! It won’t be seen by the people who really need to see it cause their all watching cnn, nbc, cbs etc…. The left wing of America rules the world of communication! WE are only allowed to see and hear what they want us to, unless we go out of our way to find the truth! This has been going on for so long that most Americans have become clueless! Just look, Obama got re-elected and have you noticed that since The Newtown tragedy everytime you turn on the tv or computer their telling of another violent shooting? But when was the last time you heard them report on someone who defended his family with a gun?

Feb. 20, 2013 at 6:51pmPart of being a true Patriot means that you would be WILLING to die on your front porch in a warm pile of brass. Some day I hope to meet our founding fathers and would want them to be proud of my actions in their shadow.

Feb. 20, 2013 at 6:30pmI saw this gun control BS coming when I was a kid. I’m just an average intelligence person working an average job and I swear I’m the only person back then that saw this taking shape and I grew up in one of the best hunting and fishing states in the US. What’s wrong with America is we never wake up until it’s TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feb. 20, 2013 at 5:16pmSo many people say that if they take our second amendment away, they will take the rest of our rights too? Folk’s they already have taken our other rights away, they were wondering why we didn’t fight back
so they just figure they will go ahead and take it all…….. Where is your line in the sand? mine has already been crossed, so has millions of others, why do you think they created “homeland security”? not for what they said……..

Feb. 20, 2013 at 4:53pmI am heartened to see one organization that isn’t cowed or intimidated by left wing bullies. An organization that will do what says it will do and be smart about it. An organization with enough stones to plainly tell other American what they need to hear. I can tell you the Karl Rove Republicans do not have the smarts or the guts to do something akin to the actions taken by the NRA.

Feb. 20, 2013 at 4:45pmThis is a great ad, I for one (and we all should) have copied the transcript above and through The Blaze’s take action now, you can find your States representatives and email addresses. Thank The Blaze for this, there is no excuse why any of you can’t copy and paste this transcript into a letter and send it to your Reps. through their email. Get involved, let them see this, forget the Media, Glenn has given you the tools to do it and send to whoever’s office you want. Freedom Works also has a pathway to do this. I have sent many letters this way and gotten responses back, not all to my liking since they are Dems, but believe it or not some of them do agree on some issues. At least they cannot say they haven’t seen it, well, I guess they can, Hillary got away with that. But someone in their office “WILL” see it.

Feb. 20, 2013 at 4:44pmI live in Taxachusetts where they don’t give a rat’s ass what the people want or think! I’m a Vietnam veteran, and a retired Police Officer, and, I resent this State and the Federal Government violating my Constitutional rights, by infringing on my ability to purchase and carry weapons of my choice.
The Assault weapons ban was lifted in 2004, but the state of Massachusetts still puts limits on Magazine capacity, and flash surpressors, folding stocks, pistol grips, etc etc etc. Now, mini-me Patrick wants to further reduce magazine capacity to 7. WTF
Our Constitutional rights under the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 14th Ammendments are in dire jeopardy of being
taken away by this Tyranical administration and the Maxists and socialists that make it up.
Time to fight back and demand the Supreme Judicial Court stop states from violating the people’s rights under the guise of Public Safety, which is pure BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feb. 20, 2013 at 4:40pmI do not care what gun laws are passed – I will ignore them and so will a vast majority of Americans.
I have the 2nd amendment on my side not some liberal knee jerk feel good law.
The 2nd amendment is to overthrow a tyrannical government – an over reaching socialist government that would give us socialized medicine, a large controlling central government,
re-distribution of wealth, cronyism, killing the US dollar, 1/5th of Americans on food stamps, Gasoline going above $5, MSM controlled by the Government, corporate take overs, over regulation, over spending etc etc.- Sound familiar! Be prepared – FEMA camps, military/police civil disobedience training.

Feb. 20, 2013 at 4:39pmI posted this on your FB page and I hate to spam your site with the same story over and over but you will want to read this!
Glenn, I hope you get this message because you will want to know the on the front page of the Tuesday Febuary 19, 2013 edition of the Palestine Herald, it states on the top of the front page “Westwood ISD board approves gun policy”. A breakdown of the story states that a handful of people in the “”Guardian Plan” will be authorized to carry handguns on school grounds. “We will be posting warning signs next to our gun-free zone signs to notify the public that there are people authorized to carry concealed weapons on campus.”
Please if you are reading this and you know of a way to get this message to Glenn then I implore you to do so.

Feb. 20, 2013 at 4:36pmIt doesn’t matter if nobody sees it. This is the kind of thing that needs to play during the Super Bowl. This add needs to run at least 10 times on every channel during prime time every day. This needs to be hammered into the mainstream non-stop for the next 4 years. All day, every day, let freedom ring.
