‘Where’s the Fence?’: Video of Angry Resident Confronting McCain on Immigration During Town Hall
“Cut off their welfare and all their stuff and they’ll go back!”
That’s what Arizona resident Keith Smith told John McCain at a town hall meeting on Tuesday. And he wasn’t done there.
“You said build the dang fence! Where’s the fence?”
When McCain turned around to point at a graph, the man quickly shouted out, “That’s not a fence.” A slightly smug McCain shot back, “It’s a banana. We’ve putten up a banana with about $600 million dollars worth of appropriations.”
The Associated Press has more on McCain’s response, as well as the audience members:
“There are 11 million people living here illegally,” he said. “We are not going to get enough buses to deport them.”
Some audience members shouted out their disapproval.
One man yelled that only guns would discourage illegal immigration. Another man complained that illegal immigrants should never be able to become citizens or vote. A third man said illegal immigrants were illiterate invaders who wanted free government benefits.
McCain urged compassion. “We are a Judeo-Christian nation,” he said. McCain’s other town hall meeting took place in Green Valley, south of Tucson.
Photographers captured some of the heated exchange (Smith is shown in the second picture):

AZCentral.com posted a news roundup that also included video of the confrontation:
“I think he doesn’t want the American people to stand up and ask him the tough questions and hold his feet to the fire, and I’m one of those people,” Smith told the outlet after.
As for McCain, he took a shot at the reporter, saying the journalist was trying to create controversy by asking about the tension. The reporter’s response?
“This was a very rough town hall meeting,” he said. “A lot of Republicans in that room clearly did not care for immigration reform.”

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 1:28pmWe can’t send illegals back but we can spend $330 billion in benefits and services to them annually from the states and Feds. (numbersUSA.com). Illegals kill 4000+ Americans each year. DHS states there are 240,000+ known sex offenders among the illegals. We are stupid to tolerate this. Build the fence and send any politician who supports amnesty over it with the illegals. Treason is a crime worthy of deportation. Time to hit the streets if you want to keep your nation, it will just get harder from here.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 1:35pmCan’t find a number on rapes and molestations committed by illegals but it is safe to assume 10% of the 240,000 sex offenders are ACTIVE, that would equal 24,000 rapes by illegals annually. You better raise he// NOW or enjoy the poverty and crime of the North American Union.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 1:45pmThe BIGGEST myth out there is that “we can’t bus back MILLIONS of illegals”…oh YES WE CAN!!! Just say FROM NOW ON we follow our laws and start deporting rigorously and little by little they will STOP coming when we tell them they will NOT go to our schools or be treated in our ER. Trust me…it would take no time at all and IF we were serious about following the law…they would be gone and we would save BILLIONS!

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:54pmBarry brags that he’s deported more people than any other Prez, but what good does it do when they’re back in 48 hours? We are now a nation without borders, without walls, without rules, and the laws are not used against the lawbreakers. It’s used against the law-abiders. America is not respected. Not loved. Not admired. Not even feared anymore by the common foreigner. It is an economic reconquista and economic jihad with an Anti-American President leading the charge to destroy a once great nation. I hope the ghosts of Washington, Hamilton, Jackson, Lincoln, Kennedy, and Reagan visit Barry and Moochelle until they are spooked enough to pack up and leave OUR WH!!

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 1:21pmImmigration Reform answer: Convince the American citizens that Gov. is working “hard” on measures that are “fair” for everyone, and while you have them looking at your left hand – take down the border with your right.
These people KNOW that they are trying to sell the Americans their idea that things should be “FAIR FOR EVERYONE”, when in fact their decisions should be based on what is FAIR FOR AMERICANS. After all, this is America and WE are the legal citizens. Where is it written that laws have to be changed to give the advantage of “fairness” to ANOTHER COUNTRY!? They know Americans won’t put up with their intended plans, so they are turning the table and “making us believe” that WE are the illegal’s and demonizing US for stealing this Country. Pretty good work for trusted Officials that WE voted in to office.
The Mexico border IS coming down, and millions upon millions of NEWLY LEGAL MEXICAN CITIZENS will be flooding the housing, health care, and employment markets. And OUR OWN GOVERNMENT is right now devising a plan that the AMERICAN TAXPAYER is going to foot the bill for ALL of the “new citizens”. Why do you REALLY think Oby is pressing so hard for “fairness” and “punishing” the wealthy just because they’re wealthy? Why do you REALLY think Oby is pressing to level the Middle and Lower Classes in to one gigantic “tax paying BANK”. Oby and the Admin. can’t make it clearer what their intent is.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 1:18pmI immigrated legally, at a cost of about $3,000 and countless hours waiting in lines for the INS. And now I get told, after the last round of free-citizenship, that breaking the law and being illegal could have saved me time and money?
Not exactly fair. Who is going to pay me $3,000 for following the law? Why should a law breaker get the same benefits and not have to endure the same things I did?
Build the fence, as promised. Station a few military bases right there on the border to deter human trafficking, drug trafficking, and midnight runs across the border.
Remove ALL benefits from non-citizens. Make all employers verify SS#s prior to hiring.
No jobs, no benefits = no illegal immigrants.
Tell them that they can take their kids with them that were born in the US, and those kids can return at 18 if they choose.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:43pmThey’ll burrow underneath with air conditioned tunnels. Quite popular these days for those that can afford it, mainly the cartels. Most illegal immigrants don’t jump a fence ot cross a river. They fly in on legitimate papers Visa, etc. and STAY. New wealthy upper and middle class Chinese women have been doing this the most in the last few years in order to give birth on American soil and continue to CRAP on the Fourteenth Amendment.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:57pmAfter all his re-elections McCain still just kicks the can down the road enabling the illegalβs to enjoy their takeover of America in relative peace and quiet. Now they seek to make America into Nuevo Mexico with all the crime they were trying to leave behind. Their actions answer the question “do they want a better life or do they want more land for Mexico?”

If we, as Americans aren’t entitled to ‘our facts’ Mr. McCain then what’s your excuse? Maybe it’s time you shouldn’t be ‘entitled’ to OUR money any longer? You’re totally worthless as a republican congressman.

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:25pmNot one of these RINOS has come up with a hard core plan and they don’t want to .
Here’s mine:
Everyone will face deportion unless:
They pay TAXES right out of the gate. Property taxes, income taxes, state income taxes if their employer is legitimate. No benefits will be granted. unless they pay taxes. (Food stamps, WIC, day care, housing, etc) If they don’t find legitimate employment, then DEPORT.
They may not vote for 25 years in ANY election in return they get to live here freely. Taxation without representation doesn’t apply here. They are not natural born US citizens. PAY IN, then vote.
If their children are first generation “anchor babies” and are under 18, they must reside with their parents should deportation occur or be chosen. They may return at 18 and begin the formal process of U.S. citizenship. They may not vote in any election until their 30th birthday, have a work history, and have paid into tax system.(Get in line like everyone else.)
If they serve time in our prison/jail system they will be billed. Or their family will receive the bill from the U.S. government. Deportation follows.
You pay in. Or you get nothing unless your’re disabled, elderly, or a veteran.
Time to clean house and pay the bills, people.
McCain and his buddies, Graham, McConnell, and Hatch wouldn’t understand anything about paying bills or cleaning house (that’s what their illegal maids are there for).
Aren’t some of these ideas LAWS already??????????

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:51amOk Arizona voters. Go get McCain and his broken promises. Tell me why, why did you vote this person back into office. I knew he would do this, you should have also. McStain is just that, a stain on representative government. Just because he was in the war and a prisoner, doesn’t mean he would make a freedom fighter for “We the People”!
The way I see it, McStain should not be the main point man in these immigration reforms. We all suffer with the wrongs going on. Just because Arizona is the door mat for all the incoming, we are all considered the cupboards which are being ransacked and emptied.
The rest of us would greatly appreciate it that you would have ousted McCain during the primary. What were you people thinking!!! Oh well, burn and learn and because of Arizona, we’re all going to burn it seems.
Wise up Arizona, you’ve been duped again by Sen. McCain!

Posted on February 20, 2013 at 6:05pmYes, there was a much better alternative. As for Sen McCain, past performance was evidence of future failure. The alternative in 2010 was Rep. J.D. Hayworth. He was apposed to anchor babies, Obama care and in favor of auditing the fed. Much better candidate. Arizona lacked the willingness to boot out the problem child Sen. McStain.

Is there a law that makes it illegal to give taxpayers money to ILLEGAL immigrants?
We are in the state of denial. All we should be saying to our representatives is, “we want you to put forth legislation making it illegal for taxpayer money (inluding schooling) to be given to illegals, period.”
If we can’t get such a simple, straight forward and rational “law” such as that passed, we are doomed.

Why does McCain think he’s the only one who’s right and the people who live in AZ shouldn’t question his judgement??? It’s time for McCain to fade into the sunset…..we need some new blood, not tainted by lobbyists and free money coming their way…..we need a new senator for AZ. The “fence” does not exist east of Douglas, AZ between there and the NM border (and beyond)…the crossings, smuggling and gangs pass through that area because there’s nothing there to stop them!!! Live and learn, people…this is a NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE!!!!!

We have enjoyed more of these blessings in America than any other country in the world, Why do things work better in America– because we abide by the rule of law.
Allowing mass amnesty for those who broke out laws to get here fatally undermines the whole reason for coming.
