‘I Don’t Debate With Israelis!’: British Politician Storms Out of Debate After Realizing His Opponent Is From Israel

At an Oxford University event, British parliamentary member George Galloway shocked attendees when he abruptly stormed out of the room after finding out that his opponent was an Israeli. After realizing the man’s nationality, the politician immediately jumped out of his seat, announced that he had been misled and told those in attendance that he doesn’t debate with citizens of the Jewish state.

“I don’t debate with Israelis. I’ve been misled. Sorry,” he said, with the audience responding in shock.

Next, he got up, grabbed his coat and headed for the door. But before walking out, he again affirmed his stance, saying, “I don’t recognize Israel and I don’t debate with Israelis.”

Galloway had already been speaking for approximately 10 minutes about his view that “Israel should withdraw immediately from the West Bank” when he realized that his opponent is Jewish, the Daily Mail reports.

The incident unfolded as Eylon Aslan-Levy, a third-year student, was responding to the politician’s statements from the podium. When Aslan-Levy used the word “we” to in his description of Israel, Galloway interrupted him and asked if he’s of Jewish decent.

“You said ‘we.’ Are you an Israeli?,” the politician asked.

The student answered affirmatively — and that’s when the situation took its shocking turn.

Galloway has been defending his actions on Twitter, where his bio describes him as “pro-Palestine, anti-war, pro-equality, anti-Islamophobia.” In a Tweet sent earlier on Thursday, he, again said, “I never debate with Israelis.”

People need to respect Israel, it is a country with enemies on every side. He shouldnt be judging people on where theyre from, he needs to judge him on how he works and his ideas and mindset.

  Do yourself a favor, study the HISTORY of the region. You will find that the arabs nations REFUSED to take arab refugees from Israel after its creation. You will find that the arab nations EXPELLED ALL of their Jewish citizens. You will find that the arab nations ATTACKED Isreal in unison without provocation. You will find that Isreal WON every war… then GAVE BACK the land they won… until the last time, where they kept what they had to in order to have DEFENSIBLE BORDERS. And it was a LOT of land, the entire Sinai peninsula was theirs.
  
  I don’t think Israel will be giving back ANY land if there is another war. Side with the terrorists if you want, that is your choice… Or just remain ignorant, with about 95% of Americans.

  I’ll consent to an Israeli withdrawal so long as it is based on a signed agreement as to where the border should be AND the PA (or whoever the other party might be) guarantees the equal rights and protection of all non-Palestinians, Jews and Israelis included, that should fall under their jurisdiction.

He had no other choice. No matter how smart you are, no matter how well educated you are in history or politics, no matter how good of a debater you are, you will ALWAYS lose to an Israeli. However, this isn’t because they are necessarily the better debater or have logic on their side. White guilt+ U.S. gov’t bias for Israel = going against Israel is high treason. Its like being a black person speaking against Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson or Obama. You can do it, but you’ll be hated for it.

  Yes the US shows its bias for Israel when it demands that Israel accept bad deals, interferes in Israel’s wars, and funds Israel’s enemies. Besides, there are thousands of people who openly protest Israel, compare Israel to the Nazis, and even deny Israel’s right to exist. They exist even within the US government.

  This implies that deals are one sided and Israel must always get the good deal. What about the Palestinians or the Iranians or the Egyptians? We have two paths to Middle East peace, making Israel a regional superpower and going to war with their enemies for them, or balancing the power between Israel and Iran (due to the loss of Iraq’s power) and supporting middle eastern nations in general. They don’t turn to terrorism for **** and giggles, they do it because they have no other choice. The U.S. and the U.N. could be presenting them with other choices, but supporting Israel usually tends to be the ONLY choice.

  I expressed my opinion and my own observations. You claimed that no one can protest Israel of its actions without being ostracized and I clearly demonstrated that this is not the case. As for Iran being “neither good nor bad”, that may be true of its people but certainly not the regime which rules over them.

The part of this that disturbs me is that the students didn’t show any displeasure over the fact that this Galloway creep was a sniveling little dweeb by walking away from a debate with an Israeli. It is unconscionable to me that he would show such utter disrespect and disgusting bias towards a human being on account of his not acknowledging that person’s nation.
