Could High-Tech ID Cards Trip Up Immigration Reform?

Privacy advocates are voicing concerns about a lesser-known point in the much-publicized bipartisan ”Gang of Eight” immigration reform proposal introduced last month.

Key senators are exploring an immigration reform bill that would in part force every citizen and non-citizen U.S. worker to carry a high-tech identity card that would use fingerprints or other personal markers to prove a person’s legal ability to work, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Civil liberties organizations fear this portion of the law could lead to a national identity card that could trace Americans through their daily lives. In addition to the Senate plan, the leaked White House “backup plan” also calls for illegal immigrants to submit biometric information to qualify for a new type of visa.

Chris Calabrese of the American Civil Liberties Union is worried the biometric ID card could eventually be required to board airplanes, purchase a firearm or vote, Fox News reports.

“It becomes in essence a permission slip to do all of the ordinary things that are your rights as an American,” Calabrese says.

The notion of biometric IDs has been talked about before in the immigration debate and supported by five members of the Gang of Eight in the past.

Could these high-tech ID cards split each party down civil libertarians lines and be the straw that breaks the back of this increasingly doomed immigration reform push?

Very seldom do I ever agree with anything the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has to say, but on this point I do. Anytime you give the government even the slightest control over you as a person, you’ve just surrendered your God given rights to individuality and privacy. Now that should get under the skin of even the most hardcore liberal, socialist/communist democrat party member who constantly spouts off about their “Individual Rights”. Nothing would please the Elite more than to have COMPLETE control over someone’s life.

  If you had ever worked in a foreign country, you would know they require an ID to show you are legally there and eligible to work. I have worked all over the world and never felt put upon by having to have an ID card issued by the country where I was working. This is a smoke screen by liberals to stop control of illegal immigration. It could also be used to ensure a person is a LEGAL voter and prevent the voter fraud we see now. Wake up!

Get ready to let go folks. Learn not to be possessive with what you have, myself included. The soveriegnty of this once, great nation, will be no longer. Barak mentioned how people in other nations get by on less than a dollar a day. He wants us to get closer to that… and for them to get closer to us. He has said the playing field must be leveled. What I see is a one world order, where every person in America will fall into the top 25% wealth World Wide. Those hypnotized Obama followers will be subjected to what they feel the wealthiest should be subject to, because they will then be the wealtiest. How doees that tie to I.D. cards? Well there is a book written, which better explains, in words, which I probably can’t. Funny how a great (perceived) spiritual leader has just step down. What is going on? This is getting good. Absolutely not, just enforce our existing immigration law, and we wouldn’t have a problem. Immigrants are required to have their papers on them at all times. Deport/jail those that don’t have papers or cannot produce them. Fees for minor overstays of visa less than 10 days.

The republicans have completely forgotten their conservative roots. They work with the left to enslave us, track us and steal from us. They are every bit as bad as the far left.

EVERY politician that has breached their oath to the constitution needs to be dealt with in the harshest possible manor. But that won’t happen until we get the current dirt bags in power out of the way and replace them with people that mean what they say and say what they mean, especially when it comes to their oath of office.

If they supported the patriot act, the NDAA, Obamacare or the so called financial reform, they should be punished. They have failed America and everything it represents.

Or, how about getting to the bottom of “Fast and Furious” or Benghazi? I really do want to see somebody hang for all those heroes murdered. Sure, give ‘em a trial in front of a federal judge and then hang ‘em. Who would be prime candidates for the nooses? I’ll bet you saw some of them on the “tellie” today.

This is exactly what the Clinton’s proposed. First it was the Clinton medical card, prez Clinton at a presser with blue background, “Everyone will have one of these health id cards. Hillarycare fell flat on it’s face and six months later it was illegal immigration and a Right to Work card, with prez Clinton at a presser with black background “Everyone will have one of these Right to Work cards”. It’s a smart card that will link all aspects of your life, financial, health, location tracking, etc.. Using predictive modeling they would then be able to “know” what you were going to do before you did. You would no longer be “free” to do anything without Big Brother knowing and then adjusting your actions. For example, your ‘free’ to eat as many cheeseburgers as you want, but since you exceeded the recommended BB suggested monthly ‘allowance’ of cheeseburgers, you would be ‘taxed’ for each additional ‘unhealthy’ item. Because the Government has your best interest in mind, and cares for you, with a strong hand and iron rod.

Driver’s licenses are used for ID. Very little difference between. Would the new employees ID’s work? Probably not. Just more red tape and bureaucracy.

  Could they be used for voter I.D. since EVERYONE would be required to have one? .. everyone who is legal .. perhaps this could stop the voter fraud by illegals and the multiple voting.. how hard would they be to fake? .. I don’t like the idea of the card .. but then again it may be our only hope of ever having a “fair’ election and throwing some of these bums out on their bums.

Make the card only for non-citizens and only available at a US consulate or embassy outside of the US and you have a real winner. People will have to return to their birth country to get in line. While we are at it amend the 14th to stop citizenship births. Then let those now legal workers join the military (combat ground forces) to jump the line to citizenship. A true win-win. Also ensure that employers pay for health care and at least minimum wage and an “educational offset” to pay for the new workers families to attend local English immersion schools. We should welcome hard working people to our country and maybe even make a trade “one of your folks seeking work for one of ours avoiding work”.

If you work in the United States, you are forced to pay taxes, and thus have some sort of Social Security number or TIN. People aren’t “forced” to carry their SS cards at work. So, I’m wondering if the words “forced to carry” these biometric cards is really being considered. Why “carry” them? If questions arises, why not be given time to produce them, like the next day at work. I don’t find these cards very alarming, the slippery slope argument is overused.
