Ann Coulter Battles John Stossel & a Room Full of Libertarians: This Is Why People Think You’re ‘Pu**ies!’

Ann Coulter Does Battle With Fox News’ John Stossel

Conservative talker Ann Coulter appeared Thursday on Fox Business Network’s “Stossel” to do battle with the show’s Libertarian host — and his 1,400+ Libertarian guests.

Their biggest point of contention? Social Conservatism versus the Libertarian “Individuals Should Be Left Alone” approach.

The evening began pleasantly enough, the two discussing whether the U.S. should’ve invaded Iraq following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Coulter believes military action was justified because Saddam Hussein was “definitely looking for uranium from Niger.”

But then things became a little more heated when Stossel decided to shift gears and brought up legalizing drugs.

“Libertarians and pot,” Coulter laughed. “This is why people think libertarians are pu**ies.”

Now although Fox censored the word, Mediaite’s Andrew Kirell was on the scene and can testify to Coulter’s language.

She continued:

We’re living in a country that is 70-percent socialist, the government takes 60 percent of your money. They are taking care of your health care, of your pensions. They’re telling you who you can hire, what the regulations will be. And you want to suck up to your little liberal friends and say, “Oh, but we want to legalize pot.”

You know, if you’re a little more manly you would tell them what your position on employment discrimination is. How about that? But it’s always “We want to legalize pot.”

Stossel went all in Libertarian versus Social Conservatism: “Why can’t gays get married?”

“Well, they can,” she answered. “They have to marry a member of the opposite sex.”

The 1,400+ Libertarian students, who were there as a part of Stossel’s annual taping at the International Students for Liberty Conference in Washington, D.C., became increasingly hostile, jeering and booing Coulter along the way.

“This is another one where you’re just sucking up to liberals when there are big fights,” Coulter continued.

“No, we believe the individual should be left alone,” Stossel responded.

“Marriage is the most important institution to civilize young people. I make divorce a lot more difficult,” she said. “Liberals want to destroy the family.”

She explained that the left wants to destroy the family so that people will become totally dependent on government.

More jeers and boos.

“How is it any of your business what I choose to put in my body if I’m not affecting anyone else?” one student asked during the Q&A session, prompting a standing ovation from the crowd.

“First of all, for alleged individualists, you’re very mob-like,” Coulter said. “Second of all, it is my business because we are living in a welfare state … Right now, I have to pay for, it turns out, coming down the pike, your health care. I have to pay for your unemployment when you can’t hold a job. I have to pay for your food, for your housing. Yeah, it’s my business!”

Now to be clear, Coulter is no stranger to hostile environments and she and Stossel have long been on good terms. So it was not surprising to see the segment end amicably as the Libertarians students gave her a respectful send-off.

Still, that’s not to say that Coulter versus Libertarianism wasn’t something to see:

Too many young Libertarians I have been coming across as of late seem to be a one issue voter:

    “Dude, I wanna get high!”

The original Libertarians- some of our Founding Fathers, would probably tell them to to read some books, serve your fellow man, and stop wasting time taking bong hits while watching old Ren & Stimpey episodes.

I want gay people to be able to get married … I want them to have to the same tax rate that myself and my husband do. Why should they be any different. Be careful what you ask for gay community … you may not like it all.

Libertarians are just idealists of another flavor who are doomed to never matter in the fight between the current large parties. Unlike the Socialist, who seem to be approaching their ideal of Utopia, the Libertarians seem to lose a step for every step the communists/socialist gain. They are reduced to begging the majority to slow down the train that is running over them. They are the least exploitable of the useful idiots. Their ideal society would hardly be distinguishable from free roaming animals. I do admire their insistence that rules make sense and that the government be modulated by reason rather than emotion but, how reliable is reason if you are on dope? How reliable is a civilization that has limited respect for traditional marriage?

I often disagree with Coulter, mostly because she has a very carnal and superficial world view. As do most people, particular Libertarians. It’s important to understand that the founders, in crafting the Constitution, made a point that this would only work if people were God-fearing (I’m simplifying a bit). Moral decay means more vile things become the “norm”. Gay marriage wasn’t even a concept back then because people rightly recognized it’s no different from pedophilia, bestiality, necrophilia and the like. Laws are based on some sort of moral compass. When the compass goes awry, so do the laws, so does society. This has been the case with America.

Sorry DOG….gay marriage is between two consenting adults that has absolutely no effect on your life at all. Pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia are NOT activites between consenting adults. So, I’m going to go ahead and say you are wrong. Really, really wrong.

My brothers claim to be libertarian. I have known others beside them. What I find is that they are really mostly just liberals. They won’t agree with anything conservative because they think you are infringing on their freedom if you don’t agree with just letting everyone do as they like with regards to drugs and sex. But when asked who would pay for the consequences of all this freedom they believe they are entitled to they spout the same liberal crap as the far left. The rich need to pay more and evil corporations aren’t paying their fair share. They want to be free to do as they like but we are not free to spend the fruits of our labor as we like because someone has to pay for all these lazy dope smoking slugs on welfare. Yeah I love my brothers but two of them I want to boot in the ass. Quit smoking dope and whining about how life hasn’t been fair to you and get a job so you can be rich like me bros. (we’re really not rich, we just worked hard and have a home and cars and recreational things like a boat and a camper) They think that’s rich. They could probably have all those things paid for too if they had applied the money spent on dope to it instead of the wow is me think I’ll just smoke another dubi and feel sorry for myself attitude.

Ann Coulter is an amazing argumentarian! You don’t mess with that lady. Was anyone’s mind changed is my question. Or did everyone go home justified in his/her/its own eyes? I really don’t think anyone actively listened to Ann. In other words the answer to the question “If what you believed to be true were not true would you want to know?” is ‘No!’.

Government OUT OF MARRIAGE ALTOGETHER. I could give a hoot whom or what you prefer. What I object to is having to bankroll it. Marriage is a RELIGIOUS RITE. You (government) have no dog in this fight. CIVIL UNIONS are a government creation. Marriage is a Church function. Leave marriage the hell alone. Take your civil union and stop trying to dictate to the Church. Nuff said.

Alimony, child support, custody, visitation, property division, on and on ,it always ends up in court. And most times the woman and children still end up being supported by the social safety net in some way. Yeah, get government out of marriage.

We need a third party that is based on the Constitution, balancing the budget and term limits. Those three issues would take care of most social issues that interfere with our individual freedoms.

I am a Libertarian in college and I am in a campus group of libertarians. I absolutely agree with Coulter, and I think a lot of the libertarians in this video went into the forum knowing they were going to try their hardest t disagree with everything she said. What she means when she says the Libertarians are pandering to the Liberals is that legalizing marijuana or making gay marriage “legal” is far too high on the list of priorities for the typical libertarian. One of the most frustrating things for me as a libertarian is that when I go to meetings no one ever talks about how we can actually CHANGE things. People spend more time talking about how prohibition of drugs and the drug war doesn’t work or how the government doesn’t need to define marriage than they spend talking about the BIG IDEAS. Ideas that fix things and reverse the direction of the country are what matter… not pleasing the masses by essentially having he government *condone* drugs and gay marriage (which is very UN-libertarian to me). Right now the libertarian party cannot be taken seriously because their priorities do not make sense.

Again, I am a libertarian. I do believe in legalizing drugs and I do believe marriage is a sacred bond of love between individuals and that the government has no place regulating that. What Ann Coulter is saying is that there are problems that are exponentially more important.

Why is it that Libertarians always advocate for legalizing only SOME drugs like marijuana, cocaine, and heroin (as Ron Paul did), claiming it as a states rights issue? The natural extension of that logic under the commerce clause of the US Constitution is that ALL pharmaceutical drugs would then need to be regulated by 50 different states with 50 different sets of laws. Those are drugs too! You can’t deregulate some drugs and not all drugs! There are 3000 prescription drugs alone, and hundreds of over-the-counter drugs too! The cost to the states and to pharma companies to pay for testing would be astronomical. That would require the necessity of much higher taxes to pay for it all!
What Libertarians really want is freedom from accountability to use recreational drugs, and push the cost of it onto everyone else!
Libertarianism just creates more LIBERALS demanding MORE government and a more intrusive welfare state.

after reading this… it makes me realize why i dont like Ann. She is the same way as Liberals. Name calling and being disrespectful! My personal opinion, I think conservatives and libertarians need each other to boot this careless administration out of office! instead of helping! she is dividing like Obama! saying your ***** because you do something she disagrees with! with that attitude, we can never have dialouge! If Ann! was for a free state and free people! she wouldnt care if someone smokes pot, just as long they dont bother or hurt anyone else! If she believed in a free state! she wouldnt care if two people of the same sex wanted to get married! its their choice! No one should care! unless it interferes with your life! stop worrying about other people! worry about yourself! thats what a free state is about! doing what you want and leaving others alone just as long as your not a menece to the community

Putting people into that state does nothing to improve society, it can only hamper it and it DOES affect others around them. Legalizing pot only makes our citizens more apathetic and dazed. Thoughts that are processed while high are contrived in a hazey cloud and do not reflect true reality however to the drug user, their conclusions seem completely logical. This false reality is disasterous for a productive society. If it is legaliazed make sure to teach your kids not to end up being a dope, and never take advice from a dope head because their ideas are not based in the real world

Republican – a conservative who craps on the constitution by bankrupting the country and trashing the 1st and 4 amendment:

      1. forcing everyone to pay for other countries’ defense by maintaining over 800 USA aka Roman Empire military installations over the world and instead of being a republic – forces ALL taxpayers to pay for the USA being the WORLD policeman. England and Germany and South Korea and Japan ect CAN MAINTAIN the military installations within their own borders.

      2. Republicans crap on the 4th amendment and approve of the Patriot Act and NDAA under the guise of “PROTECTING US” Ben Franklin “THOSE WHO GIVE UP LIBERTY FOR SECURITY – DESERVE NEITHER. Republicans WHINE about liberals who measure the government telling us how much soda bottles should be but have no problem with government TSA sticking their fingers in our crotches at airports and subways etc.

      3. Republicans AND liberals LOVE THE IDEA of picking losers and winners. The GOP whines about liberals bailing out green companies while Bush – and RINOs bailed out banks. Both bailed out the auto industry. AND BOTH LOVE the idea of sticking it to single people or people with no children for tax purposes but “CHOOSING” to let government give tax breaks to married people or those with children or those with handicaps and NEITHER side realizes THEY ARE PICKING LOSERS AND WINNERS when they give different rates to different ‘categories”.

Stossel is right, but, the problem Libertarians make is using drugs, abortion, etc as hinge issues. We need to be very vocal about freedom and less divisive about making drugs legal. Talk about not criminalizing misdemeanors, whatever. There has to be a better way to make the point and not be labeled as cooks.

I am a libertarian and voted for Ron Paul in the Florida primaries. I almost voted for Gary Johnson in the presidential elections but voted for RINO Romney. I am DONE with the GOP if they run Rubio or Christie or Jeb Bush = all RINOs. If they run Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, or Rand Paul – I will vote for them but I literally GAGGED when I voted for McLame and RomneyCare and I will not do it again.

    1. I do NOT CARE if a woman gets an abortion – NONE OF MY BUSINESS – let her take it up with God when she dies

    2. If the INCOME TAX is abolished – there is ZERO reason for the government to issue marriage licenses – let it go back to the individual churches.

    3. There should not be marriage between 3 or more people – even if a Mormon/Muslim wants to.

    4. Eliminate the Dept of Education/EPA/Homeland defense/TSA – all of them except the CIA/NSA/FBI which are needed for defense of country.

    5. States ALL their education programs and immigration programs and they must ENFORCE all congress passed immigration laws and they run their own EPA programs – fed out of it. They can drill/dig/whatever – anywhere on their lands and States get all their lands back from the Feds except the few parks that Roosevelt set up.

    6. ELIMINATE ObamaCARE, RomneyCare, Social Security, federal food stamps and ALL government programs like it. Let people save or not save on their own. Churches and EACH state can set up programs for the poor.
