Jimmy Carter: The U.S. Is at the Forefront of Killing People With Guns Because of the NRA

Former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday chalked the nation’s gun murder rate up to the influence of the National Rifle Association and “weak-kneed public officials” who cave to its demands.

Appearing on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” Carter agreed that the gun lobby wields incredible influence and could derail new gun control legislation.

“It happens not only at the federal level, but it also happens at every, at every state level and every municipal level,” Carter said. “The NRA is there pressuring weak-kneed — weak-kneed public officials to yield to their pressures, when they know what they’re doing is wrong.”

Carter went on to say that he’s a gun owner and has been hunting all his life, but “I never have had a need for an assault weapon, I’ve never had a need for armor-piercing bullets.”

“I think it’s ridiculous for our country to be in the forefront of killing people with guns. And when you see that there are maybe 20 or 30 people in Canada killed in a year and several thousand people killed here in the United States from guns, that shows that the NRA is wrong and that we should have some restraints,” he said.

Libs have ALWAYS hated the organization that got blacks guns to protect themselves from KKK democrats. They just never got over that. They tell blacks that it is the republicans that hate them………but it is really the dems. Just look at what dem policies have done to the black family, I know…..what black family! Unfortunately he is right about the NRA and the weak kneed politicians, but they are weak kneed about social reforms and spending as well and Mr. Liberal policy president himself knows that as well but since he agrees with that part he is silent about it.

It is beyond annoying that none of the anti-gun crowd will acknowledge that MOST criminals do not buy their firearms legally, and that more gun control laws will not stem the tide of violence in inner city America.

Carter didn’t hate his country like the current monstrosity does but he was a terrible president. And instead of just fading away he just has to keep reminding us what a fool he is. The nursing home can;t be to far in his future, hopefully.

President Carter Sir, with all due respect the comment you made simply does not ring true. With the majority of your years now in the past, I think you may be need to take another look at things. Just like cars, cell phone, the clothes you wear, all of these products saw improvements over the decades, , so too did the gun makers and those who support the 2nd Amendment. The way you that was stated caused a thought about how it appears your suggesting goverment has a right to disarm Americans or Restrict their access to weapons. As President you swore and oath to Defend the Constitution and here you eluding to goverment control of weapons. Have you read the 2nd Amendment sir? Does it say anywhere in it does it allow for laws to be enacted for control or restrict this Freedom and Right. Yeah gun violence is bad, maybe you should direct focuse to the Moral Decay, the Lack fo Patriotism, and list goes on sir. Guns are no the problem, never was.

When Carter was president home mortgages were 18 percent, gas lines were around the block , odd & even days, depending on your license plate. Crime was rampant & Iran held hostages for over 400 days. Business were vacant store fronts . He signed over the Panama Canal & drove up the price of peanut butter….He was a 4 year disaster for working folk.. His clone is now in for 8 years.God help us…..

Carter and Morgan, Hearing what these two bafoons have to say about our 2nd amendment rights puts me into a great mood. It’s just what I needed to start a peaceful relaxing weekend. I guess it’s OK to saw somebodys head off with a dull knife, machette entire villages and rape young girls to death because they rode the bus alone. But to these guys everything will be utopian once the guns are out of the hands of people who have owned them legally and respected the responsibilty of ownership for generations without killing anybody. It’s the gun that causes all of the mayhem.
