WWE Challenges Glenn Beck to Appear on its Wrestling Program After He Criticized Their Racist Tea Party Character (Update: Beck Responds!)

Update: Glenn Beck has responded to the WWE’s challenge that he appear on their program after criticizing their new Tea Party-inspired character.
Beck’s answer? “Unfortunately I am currently booked doing anything else.”
Original post below:
The WWE wants Glenn Beck on “Raw.”
That’s the word after Beck slammed the fake wrestling franchise for one of its newest characters, the Tea Party-inspired “Jack Swagger” and his racist manager “Zeb Colter”.
“WWE has extended an invitation to talk show host and political commentator, Glenn Beck to appear live this Monday on Raw,” WWE said in a statement Friday. “Beck references WWE as ‘stupid wrestling people,’ when criticizing a recent WWE storyline involving WWE characters Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio™, Jack Swagger™ and Zeb Colter™. WWE is giving Beck the opportunity to address our 14 million weekly viewers and our global fan base, as he believes we are offending our ‘conservative’ fans with this storyline.”
Beck had slammed the WWE for “making a villain out of” the Tea Party when much of its audience likely tilts conservative.
“You’re making a villain out of what? Probably 80 percent of your audience who’s tired as it is of being miscast? They’re tired of this,” Beck said. “I’m sick and tired of being miscast. I am sick and tired of it. It is lazy at best. And I certainly am not going to give any more time or my money to any organization that is miscasting, is making it harder for me and my family to stand up for what I believe in.”
The WWE said it’s in the entertainment business and creates “fictional characters to serve as protagonists or antagonists.”
“To create compelling and relevant content for our audience, it is important to incorporate current events into our storylines. WWE is creating a rivalry centered on a topical subject that has varying points of view. This storyline was developed to build the Mexican American character Del Rio into a hero given WWE’s large Latino base, which represents 20% of our audience,” the statement said.
TheBlaze is anxiously awaiting Beck’s response to the WWE’s challenge. We’ll let you know if we hear anything official.
It’s worth noting “Raw” will be taping in Dallas on Monday, where Beck lives.

Posted on February 23, 2013 at 9:09amWhy don’t they do a White House inspired team…
For someone racially insensitive and a raging anti-Semite they could just have Reverend Wright put on some tights and give one of his rants against whitey and the Jews sermons.
Then for his partner they could have a character that comes out before each match burns an American flag, takes a dump on stage, and then wipes his bottom with the constitution. They could call him “BM”… Barack Marx.
Wouldn’t that be fun!

Posted on February 23, 2013 at 3:06amlackers think they got the krypto,
they can’t even get in the fight,
this is not about black and white,
its about civil rights?
so hey yo, mo, just back that thang,
hook it up, watch us sing,
conservative hip hop,
sweeter than a lolly pop,
yeah,
mix it up with a little rock,
for the kids on the block,
and the big boys at the top,
we got a show yeah,
going to back the facts at,
to the black to white and the yellow,
we all mellow,
we like the Sugar Hill Gang,
Who dress to the T,
Back to reality,
Back to life,
Not leaving it in your hands,
till you are ready,
we been silent too long,
so we gonna write song,
like a Debonaire,
we might listen to the Dope and the Pope,
or the Soulja boyz, Crank Dat up,
or ACDC and TNT,
get this tea party started if you know what I mean,
Michelle Malkin to the left of us,
Anne Coulter to the right,
got no racism, no respite,
so don’t you buy the tripe,
teach the US Constition,
good as gold,
be so bold,
the man wants your guns in town,
so that they can’t be found,
Domestic enemy number one,
of the Constitution, that’s
profound?
See and Read, see the show,
Come join us, and grow,
be more than a show,
and if you don’t want to be all you can be,
maybe your theme song should be,
may I plead,
like the Musical Youth,
Do you feel lucky,
Pass the Dutchie?
Where its at?
That Fishing Hat?
Where its at?
Listen to Beck’s he’s where its at,
hes got a tv station and a microphone?

Posted on February 23, 2013 at 1:14amThe fact of the matter there was a time a while back when the wwe started a plot line involving the character know as the undertaker beating up and then getting beat up by a bunch of middle eastern men who no doubt where suppose to represent terrorists and then poof the story line ended. I guess you can make money at the expense of some people but not at others.

Posted on February 23, 2013 at 1:02amummmmm hmm ok wait hmmm well hmmm ok let me start by saying that if there are enough people to get dip stick re elected there just MIGHT be some maybe many who think this WWE stuff is real. Look I for one do not but did you listen to the crowd folks? I’m sorry but the guys or women who run this WWE thing COULD stand WITH US and shame a character that’s perhaps attacking our freedoms but they are not. The WWE has decided to defame the Tea Party movement, our honored Soldiers AND our Constitution. I am not offended but I am concerned. IF the WWE REALLY wanted to make some great points they should have SIDED with us considering we out number them 10 to 1 easily. So why not just send a message maybe to “NOT” watch the WWE and make a point of it on FB and Twtr?.Let’s rally folks.
Peace.

Posted on February 23, 2013 at 12:17amGlenn Beck is an idiot and paranoid twit. WWE fans are, mostly, “Conservative”? Not even close. If you’ve ever seen Beck, his arguments for why this is true, in his tiny paranoid World, will be diagrammed on charts with “proof”. The truth is that every network he has ever been on has used him for quick ratings and extended ratings during election times and then… they dumped him. How does, IMHO, a lunatic who really needs ratings get a podium to preach from? A sad, loony tube, reality tv nation, as he has, virtually, nothing to say that is reality based or intelligent in the least bit. The Swagger thing is another approach at Sgt. Slaughter vs. any non-American who hates our country, but PLEASE!!! WWE..don’t bring Glenn Beck to Wrestlemania for more than 5 seconds: wrestling is a nice fiction show…Beck believes his nonsense is real wrestling in politics….Just say NO!

Posted on February 22, 2013 at 11:26pmI’ve got it! Glenn should take a page from Ann Coulter and just go over the top. He shows up and whips off his duster to reveal that he’s armed like Arnold in the movie, “Commando”. Just totally mocking the liberal stereotype of a right-wing wacko.

Posted on February 22, 2013 at 11:03pmThis is blown way out of proportion. Swaggert is a remake of a character, Bob Backlund from the 90′s who protrayed himself as a conservative fighting for the morals of America.
On this site, complain of people who are offended by stupid bs all the time (ex: screaming racist over a black person in a fried chicken ad). Tea party people who plea “offended” by this are just as bad.

Posted on February 22, 2013 at 11:07pmI don’t recall saying anyone is racist, If you can read, you will see that I said tea party people get upset when called racist over stupid bs, so claiming being offended by the WWE story line is kind of hypocritical

Posted on February 22, 2013 at 11:01pmI am a wrestling fan. Have been 37 years. My earlist memory is being 3 YR on my dad’s lap watching Jerry Lawler wrestle Kamala at a local high school.
I have issue with the gimmick of Swagger and Zeb. I guess I should mention I have been a fan of Zeb (Dutch Mantell) for as long as I can remember. This gimmick ****** me off. Just because I am TEA Party doesn’t make me heel (bad guy). The audience is confused so the announcers have to rub (focus on good/bad) to influence the audience.
I am just really finding myself hating this.
Glenn has nothing to gain, yet WWE called him out knowing he would turn it down.
If Glenn really wanted to cal the bluff…..show up. SRS,
I love Glenn…I like wrestling….my main concern is my country
as a fan of all Glenn being Glenn is the best thing

Posted on February 23, 2013 at 12:40amAlthough the matches are pre-determined, and have to do with the storylines, the moves they do aren’t fake. If you jump from a 20ft ladder and land on another person on a cement floor, it still hurts. The reason many wrestlers end up on pain meds is because of the osteoarthritis they get in their late 20′s. They travel to venues daily and don’t see their families for 8 months out of the year. When they get hit with a chair, they use a real chair and have to hit hard enough to make a dent. Concussion injuries are very common in the wrestling industry. Only a few earn big money. A friend of mine who wrestled locally got his a$$ beat for $20 a night. The good wrestlers, although they do pull their punches, hit each other hard enough to make it real. If you can find it on youtube, watch a Terry Funk vs Mick Foley match where the ringropes are barbed wire and they rake each other’s faces over them and bleed all over the place. Predetermined, yes. Fake, no.

Posted on February 22, 2013 at 10:21pmThe WWE are masters at propaganda taking advantage of illusion and low intellect viewers. This is bait and all it took was a reactionary response. Glenn is now the big fish. The pseudonym name and grassroots group help fulfill the intentional offense the fans have already been trained to hate. This is pure calculated character damage for right wing cannon fodder.
Latino’s may have conservative family values, but vote progressive due in large part to similar propaganda mirages pushed by their trusted left wing sources. The 80% claimed conservative is coming from the same premise WWE fraud is built on. Given some thought, the WWE is claiming their fan base is just dumb enough to fall for anything sporting a Geraldo Rivera mustache spewing trash in the name of patriots or any nemesis of the left. Milking the cash cow Kool-Aid crowd that patronizes their venues with more fake reasons to hate whitey.

If you say so, it must be true. I can’t wrap my mind around why people would desire to watch meatheads act worse than meatheads. Me thinks to attract the same?
No facts to back up your assertion of brilliance, bravado and financial superiority is a bit weak. They don’t call it a BS degree for nothing – me thinks again. Quit while you are ahead as a well educated professional BS’r rather than prove my provocation with empirical evidence.
Then again, knowing full well entertainment wrestling is orchestrated for suckers by greedy charlatans, you run with all that to defend your participation. No one really cares nor will they be impressed…..

They will make a joke out of Glenn and anything he says, but then agains Glenn could use this five minutes to get his message out to a large group of people and possible open up more people’s eyes. It is up to him, I understand if he wants to stay in the studio and not subject himself to the public.
