‘By All Means, Leave’: The Amazingly Blunt Response One State Rep. Gave a Citizen Who Wrote Him Opposing Concealed Carry in Schools

Wyoming state Representative Hans Hunt told one resident, “by all means, leave.”
Get out of here.
That was one Wyoming state representative’s message to a resident who contacted him recently stating her opposition to a bill that would have allowed people with concealed carry permits to carry guns in public schools, colleges and sporting events.
Rev. Audette Fulbright had emailed all state legislators, including Republican Rep. Hans Hunt, earlier this month to say she and her husband had just moved to Wyoming and were “seriously reconsidering” their decision amid the proposed expansion of gun laws.
“Ample evidence has shown that schools and guns do not mix, and in particular, guns in the hands of amateurs/non-professionals is extremely dangerous, especially in any highly-charged situation,” Fulbright wrote. “To expose our children to greater risk in their schools by encouraging more guns on campuses is something that we cannot allow.”
Fulbright also said she was concerned about “the profoundly serious dangers of fracking” and said the question of whether to leave was “wrenching to all of us.”
“I know of other new-to-Wyoming families in similar contemplation. Your choices matter. It would be sad to see an exodus of educated, childrearing age adults from Wyoming as a result of poor lawmaking,” she wrote.
Hunt’s response? “By all means, leave.”
“I’ll be blunt,” he wrote back. “If you don’t like the political atmosphere of Wyoming, then by all means, leave. We, who have been here a very long time (I am proudly 4th generation) are quite proud of our independent heritage.”
Fulbright is not one of Hunt’s constituents, but he was one of just two lawmakers who responded to her letter. The other, state Rep. Mary Throne (D), said the bill had moved to committee and to contact committee members. It has since been shot down by legislators.
Fulbright told the Casper Star-Tribune her family moved from Virginia in July to have access to better schools and a beautiful environment.
“Apparently I have to live here a certain amount of time before I have an opinion,” she told the newspaper.
Hunt, who was the youngest member of the Wyoming legislature when he was elected in 2010 didn’t back down from his response.
“Was it blunt? Yes. Would I apologize? No,” Hunt told the Star-Tribune. He said later: “If I had to do it again, would I sit and think about how to phrase my words more carefully? Probably.”

Fulbright’s email:
Dear Representative,
I hope you are taking care of yourself during this busy session. I know it is a challenging, compressed time.
I am writing to express my grave concern about House Bill 105. Ample evidence has shown that schools and guns do not mix, and in particular, guns in the hands of amateurs/non-professionals is extremely dangerous, especially in any highly-charged situation. to expose our children to greater risk in their schools by encouraging more guns on campuses is something that we cannot allow.
My husband and I moved to Wyoming not too long ago. We believed it was a good place to raise children. With the recent and reactive expansion of gun laws and the profoundly serious dangers of fracking, we find we are seriously reconsidering our decision, which is wrenching to all of us. However, the safety of our family must come first. We are waiting to see what the legislature does this session. I know of other new-to-Wyoming families in similar contemplation. Your choices matter. It would be sad to see an exodus of educated, childrearing age adults from Wyoming as a result of poor lawmaking.
sincerely,
Rev. Audette Fulbright
Hunt’s response:
Rev. Fulbright,
I’ll be blunt. If you don’t like the political atmosphere of Wyoming, then by all means, leave. We, who have been here a very long time (I am proudly 4th generation) are quite proud of our independent heritage. I don’t expect a “mass exodus” from our state just because we’re standing up for our rights. As to your comments on fracking, I would point out that you’re basing your statement on “dangers” that have not been scientifically founded or proved as of yet.
It offends me to no end when liberal out-of-staters such as yourself move into Wyoming, trying to get away from where they came from, and then pompously demand that Wyoming conform to their way of thinking. We are, and will continue to be, a state which stands a head above the rest in terms of economic security. Our ability to do that is, in large part, to our “live and let live” mentality when it comes to allowing economic development, and limiting government oversight. So, to conclude, if you’re so worried about what our legislature is working on, then go back home.
Sincerely,
Hans Hunt
Representative Hans Hunt

The Unitarian church is VERY similar to the United Church of Christ. Enough said!!!!!

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 7:36pmGood for him. If you move to a state, be willing to accept what exist. If you like what you came from why did you move. This is what screwed up Colorado. A ton of libs moved from California and then wanted to make it over in the image of California.

Representative Hunt,
I just read about the letter from Rev. Audette Fulbright to you, and your
response back. Bravo, sir! I hope other conservative state legislators and their
legislative bodies shout it loud and clear; “you come here to be one of us, not
make us like you!”
My wife and I are considering a move from the extremely liberal and worsening
state of Connecticut, to the freedom and liberty of Texas. We will leave behind
family and the home we love, to start our lives over at age 50. The draconian
gun laws they are proposing here is the last straw. The economic impact we are
feeling on a weekly basis when our paychecks vanish with nothing left over has
worn me down. After spending 10 days there last May, we knew that was where
we must go. Although it was a vacation, I refer to it as “living in Texas for 10 days”,
not a vacation. The clamor for people to fill jobs, the building and expansion
taking place, and the shortage of housing was amazing. The pride Texans feel of
being from Texas stunned me. I do not know a single person that is proud to be
from Connecticut, or would ever fly a Connecticut flag in their yard.
We will not bring one hint of the liberal poison with us. I have heard it said that
Texas needs to protect it’s northern border just as much as it’s southern one.
May God Bless & Keep you and your family.

“If you think that the fighting capabilities of Third World insurgents has been impressive, wait until you get a load of an American patriot fighting for his or her country on American soil—you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Also, it is wise to keep in mind that the trigger for the revolution could be any number of things, or combination of things, and such a trigger could arrive from any direction on any given day. I will not get into the whys and wherefores of the revolution in this article—those who have done their homework already have a pretty good idea of what’s what, who’s who, and why revolution may become unavoidable. Stay frosty, not fidgety.
“The confluence of events we are witnessing (from gun control to our foreign policies) is not by accident, but is the result of much planning. To those with discernment, the collapse of the dollar is one part of a larger plan of global governance. The lives lost within America will be collateral damage welcomed by the evil and insidious. It’s not if, but when.”—Douglas Hagmann “America Over a Barrel”

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 7:43pmFracking is a proven technology that has been used for decades. Don’t believe the liberal propaganda. They don’t want fracking because it provides cheap energy to a country that they want to bring to is knees. There are many research papers done by both government and private organizations that prove the safety of the process.

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 7:20pmI am from North Carolina, and i moved to Chicago for two years for a job, the worst mistake i ever made. I was taxed to death, gun laws that did not one damn bit of good. Because only the criminals had them. I will never for all the money in the world go to a state where my 2nd amendment rights are infringed. I wish more people thought like the representative because of so we would not have a communist president as we do now.

But a cautionary tale, Nevada, my somewhat adopted home state, has been overrun with these types of peops from California. It didn’t work there, so why not one state over? Not…

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 7:09pmThe Rep is dead right about the recent exodus of Liberals from the messed up states they have created only to immediately set about ruining their new home state. We see it every day here in Florida which is starting to look a little too purple for me.
It’s sort of like black entertainers and athletes who finally get enough money to get out of the ghetto but then try their best to bring the ghetto with them into formerly decent areas.
Liberals, like buzzards, **** in their own nests.

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 7:03pmAudette has done what a lot of liberals have. Ruined the economic condition in their native state, flee to a conservative state that hasn’t suffered the consequences of liberalism, then demand that their adoptive state conform to their liberalism.
So all things considered, I thought he was fairly diplomatic.

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 7:01pmI can appreciate the rev’s letter to Rep. Hunt since it is every Americans right to voice their grievances to the presiding government. Whether we agree with her or not is secondary. The point is the rev. spoke out her concerns, which is more than even some conservatives do.
Now, I can truly say that I to do not agree with her point. No one can protect themselves from criminals without the proper tools. Regardless of the laws in place crime is crime and the criminal is in control. So, being an armed citizen provides a means to deter a lot of that crime. Just the knowledge that someone may be armed goe’s a long way. We may not stop all of the deaths, but many other lives can, and have been saved. If any one of those teachers had been armed, there would have been a lot less death because the criminal would have been stopped a lot sooner. So, rev., That is what we call “safety”. If you feel for some reason you cannot bear that thought, than by all means do what you have to do, but don’t take away our rights in the process.

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 6:54pmBoy is this typical. I have seen this crap my whole life many move from the northeast and instantly start complaining about how it should be here and immediately try to start changing everything to be the way it was in their cesspool they left from. It is like a cancer that spreads across our nation and they cannot see that they are the reason the place they moved from and could not stand was ruined because of all of the progressive liberal communistic policies they put in place year after year. Look at all of the big cities in trouble with high debt and crime almost everyone is because of 30 to 40 years of these screwed up policies.
Hans Hunt did exactly what all of us should do when we hear them open up their mouths to spew their progressive liberal communist views.
Good for him!
