Rick Perry: Texas Going Blue ‘Is the Biggest Pipedream I Have Ever Heard’

AP
Texas is staying red, red, red.
Gov. Rick Perry on Saturday laughed off recent talk that his state could someday go blue, telling the Wall Street Journal it’s “the biggest pipedream I have ever heard.”
“The University of Texas will change its colors to maroon and white before Texas goes purple, much less blue,” the longtime Republican governor told the Journal. Maroon and white are the colors of Texas A&M, the University of Texas’s in-state arch rival.
The Texas Democratic Party said last week the biggest and most fail-safe red state in the country could “absolutely” become a swing state in 2016, particularly if Hillary Clinton runs. Texas has gone for the Republicans in every presidential election since 1980, but even the state’s Republican Party has said it’s not taking anything for granted.
“If she’s the nominee, I would say that this is a ‘lean Republican’ state but not a ‘solid Republican’ state,” Texas GOP Chairman Steve Munisteri told Real Clear Politics. “I don’t know anyone nationally who’s scoffing at this. The national party leadership is aware and tells me they’re taking it seriously.”
That’s on the heels of San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, who gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in September and said he was optimistic about his state first going purple and then blue before long.
“In a couple of presidential cycles, you’ll be on election night, you’ll be announcing we’re calling the 38 electoral votes of Texas for the Democratic nominee for president,” Castro said.
But Perry dismissed such talk for one reason: freedom.
“People in Texas truly aspire to freedom. They don’t want government coming in and telling them how much of this or how much of that,” he told the Journal.
“Democrats are about government getting bigger and bigger and government providing more and more,” he said. “Texans have never been for that, and Texans never will.”

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 4:40pmWe estimated around 2 million (a conservative estimate) fraudulent votes for Obama last time around! While not by themselves “game changer” If coupled with the folks who “Sat on their hands” because they would rather let the Progressives finish off this great nation than vote for someone they did much care for but would have caused far far less damage ( Yes Romney would have been much less “Toxic”) If the fraud were eliminated, And the folks I spoke of were motivated, Obama and his sick bretheren would be out on their lying butts right now and our economy would already be showing signs of a “real’ recovery! Simply put, If I had to chose between two thieves, I would chose the one who would just take things and go…Not the one who wants to “Burn the house down” as well

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 7:54pmRepublicans tend to vote for the best idea or candidate rather than a party line. Unlike Democrats who will vote democrat right or wrong, to hell with the consequences. This is a weakness for the republicans due to the fact that their base will walk away if they push party line instead of facts. Democrats know this and so are not above outright lies to attempt to dissuade republicans from staying with the Republican platform.

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 8:22pmGood post drop out. I hope you get an “A.” The latest reasonable estimate is that several hundred million votes were fraudulently cast, based on the finding that with a +/- 5% margin, 1 to 3 in a 100 voters for Democrats voted “two or more” times by claiming to be dead people according several universities who have researched the issue, as you have read here and something also reported by CNN and other cable networks. Some estimates are as high as several billion fraudulent votes, but I stand by and am willing to defend the more conservative calculation. Apparently, were it not for voter fraud Romney would have won by a landslide, thousands of votes at least, if not millions.
Most Americans support House Republicans, and polls show their ratings are higher than ever. In the meantime, most Americans say President Obama is an abysmal failure who has done nothing but redistribute the nation’s wealth the opposite of upward, or reverse upward and then downward to the middle if you will.
Americans aren’t stupid Mr. President!

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 12:10amI don’t know who is doing your math drop out & meteor…
Obama stole at least 5 out of every 10 votes cast for him which makes it an 8-figure theft, not a paltry couple million. I’ve heard that millions of inner-city ‘voters’, a lot were over 100 years old, were told to posthumously vote. They also discreetly put polling booths inside of prisons and even put them on the opposite side of the yard (playground) from the white supremacist groups so that Ron paul wouldn’t get a conspicuous number of votes from these areas. Finally, I heard from a reliable source that obama himself sent out mailers to democrats in all of the battleground states telling them all about fraudulent voting. He told them that they would have to find a list of eligible voters that were not going to vote, like dead people. They would have to match the names with the precincts, and go to each precinct individually and claim to be the man or woman who was actually dead…They would have to memorize some basic info on each as well. Afterward, since it would be quite obvious that they were fraudsters, they could expect to serve up to 10 years in jail and pay $50,000 for each offense. A good democrat would rack up 1000 years in prison if they worked hard. It’s all a big manipulative lie! Obama should have lost, if we just had voter id laws none of this would have happened! TRUE THE VOTE!!!!!!!!!

I would not have bet that the GOP quickly jammed it’s collectively cowering head deep down into the sands of denial and whimpery, would NOT address the numerous instances of suspected voter fraud or appearance of highly inappropriate behavior by Dem voting Capitains. Posted on February 24, 2013 at 8:29pmIt’s not the Californians, Karen. Take a look at the demographics of your state. Besides, why would (liberal) californians leave the liberal paradise of CA to move to the hot, flat, conservative bastion of TX? Most of the Californians that are moving to TX are conservatives, and you should welcome them with open arms.
Demographics:
Houston: 37.4% Hispanic, 25.3% Black, 30.8% White
Dallas: 42.4% Hispanic, 25% Black, 28.8% White
San Antonio: 63.2% Hispanic, 26.6% White
Fort Worth: 33.8% Hispanic, Black 18.0%, White 43.4%
El Paso: 80.0% Hispanic, 15% White
Austin: 35.1% Hispanic, 48.7% White
State of Texas: 44.8% White, 38.1% Hispanic, 12.2% Black (2010 census)
As you can see, whites are slowly becoming a minority in Texas, and are already minorities in most of the largest cities. Don’t be fooled by all those red counties, because California has a lot of red counties as well, but those are rural counties. All of Texas’ most populous counties went for obama in 2012.
So, unfortunately, Texas WILL be a blue state soon. But don’t move out because of that, if all of those Californians hadn’t left, then California’s 55 electoral votes might have a chance at going for the Republican.

Posted on February 24, 2013 at 3:51pmRay is correct. I left Texas, a state I truly care for, about three years ago, largely because of this. The border counties are all Dem. So is a strip from San Antonio, through Houston, Austin, and into DFW. The border and the major cities. This is in no small part due to politicians like Governor Goodhair who talk the talk, but absolutely will not walk the walk with regards to illegal immigration. Texas cannot pass any Arizona type immigration laws because the Dems are already too powerful. Rick Perry is not popular in Texas. He has proven too many times he will say what he needs to get elected but will not follow through. Texas is already purple. Dems hold EVERY elected position in Dallas (at least at the time I got my family, and tax dollars, out of the area). Texas will be blue soon enough. Trust what Governor Perry says at your own peril. Poor immigrants are here to work, but also for the government benefits. They will vote for those who give them other people’s money. Period. They will, and do, vote overwhelmingly Democrat.

In 2006 or so, Republican, under Perry, shelved proposed legislation intended to discourage illegal immigration at the state level. They, the Republican leadership, refused to allow the legislation to come to a vote in Austin. Perry only put cameras on the border, so we could watch on the Internet and call in if we saw anything suspicious. I am not kidding. The illegals kept shooting out the cameras. If you are a Texan, you remember that. I kept up with Texas politics for over thirty years. Rural Texas is still the conservative Texas. The cities, and Perry, not so much. I think you are looking at data drawn from the category ‘cards counted’. In areas with a multi-page ballot, each page registered as a ballot card passed through the machine. Therefore if 10000 people are registered, and 6000 people vote, they each turn in two pages and FOX viewers think it was 12000 individual ballots. I say FOX viewers because this information was everywhere, every network, AP, every news site…except FOX, who usually won’t let the facts ruin a good conspiracy.
