One suspect is dead after a quick-thinking 21-year-old man sprang into action and grabbed his father’s gun to fend off three armed intruders and protect his parents in Texas.
The Houston-area young man and his parents were at home baking a cake Thursday night when there was a knock on the door, KHOU-TV reported.
“I see a young boy and I think it is a friend of my son so I open it a little bit,” the father, who didn’t want to show his face or give his name on camera, told KHOU. “These guys push and out comes two more, they push me on the ground.”
With the father down, the suspects went after the mother, telling her to get on the ground. She ran to her bedroom, where her son was already grabbing the gun from under the bed.
“I just hear a couple of times, boom, boom, boom,” the father said.
The son opened fire and struck one of the suspects, who died in one of the back bedrooms. The other two fled the scene, but deputies responding to the call picked up two men matching their description and took them in for questioning.
The entire attack lasted less than a minute, the family said. No charges are expected to be filed against the son, but they’re not taking any joy in the outcome.
“One young life is lost,” the father said.

Feb. 25, 2013 at 6:15pmBetter that one bad guy dies, and two others are caught, than that they kill all three occupants of the home and skate off to their next crime.

Feb. 25, 2013 at 4:59pmMaybe when Peter is staring down a barrel he can scare his attackers off by informing them that if they discharge their weapon they will be guilty of a Class E felony, nevermind the fact he will be using his brains as a pillow What a joke this guy is.

Feb. 25, 2013 at 2:49pmAmazing that the Sheila Jackson Lee didn’t start the “Those young men were freed from slavery just to be attacked when they hadn’t done nothing..” speech. Houston is a rough place anyway..my cousin Barbara suffered a break-in back in 1980 when she lived alone. She called the police and the dispatcher told her to remain calm that they would have somebody there in 10 minutes or less. About that time the busted down her bedroom door with a hammer and she shot him three times with a .45 caliber handgun. the police told her when they arrived that she should have waited for them to get there. she told them, ” I might be a woman but my Dad didn’t raise a fool..”
Moral of the story? If you ain’t invited don’t go inside someone’s home……

Feb. 25, 2013 at 12:58pmThe father should have peed or vomited on the intruders like a woman. That would have stopped them I am sure. The 21 year old young man who shot at them and killed one of them should obviously be put in jail since he is a gun loving Jesus freak. I mean, baking a cake with his mom and Dad? What is he gay? They should all be in jail for defending themselves with guns. Oh. And the two “suspects” in jail for questioning should get a ticker tape parade down Main Street and another 7,000 dollars added to their SNAP/Lone Star Welfare cards. OH. and buy them BOTH Mercedes on the taxpayer dime too.

Feb. 25, 2013 at 10:46amAw, come on now, we don’t need whistles or vomiting or the police or any of those old-fashioned “confrontational” means of resolving problems! They just all needed to sit down together and,….and TALK, ….you know, about their feelings…Maybe the perps could have all gone in and helped the family with that cake they were baking and the story could have had a happier ending….(sniff sniff)
I don’t know what’s more awesome about this newspiece, – the fact the kid blew away a perp threatening his father or the fact that the parents were able to trick their son into helping them bake a cake. I can hear it now. “Mom, I’ll get the gun! You hold the spatula!!’”
True Awesomeness!
