Embarrassing!: Best Actress Winner Trips Up Stairs to Receive Oscar

AP

LOS ANGELES (AP) β€” Jennifer Lawrence has won the Academy Award for best actress for her performance as a young widower in “Silver Linings Playbook.”

It’s the first Oscar for the 22-year-old Lawrence, who was also nominated for “Winter’s Bone” in 2011. It’s the first Oscar for “Silver Linings Playbook” on the night.

The actress tripped on her way to the stage, but by the time she got to the microphone, the Dolby Theatre crowd applauded her with a standing ovation.

The other nominees Sunday night were Emmanuelle Riva (“Amour”), Quvenzhane Wallis (“Beasts of the Southern Wild”), Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”) and Naomi Watts (“The Impossible”).

The 85th Academy Awards are airing live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles with host Seth MacFarlane.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Why does the media concentrate on every and anything negative? This actress appears to be a talented, well-dressed and sweet young lady. The media, including The Blaze, concentrates instead on one embarrassing moment occurring at an event that was the highlight of her career to date.

Maybe if they all fell on their butts they’d stop wearing those stupid dresses.
If you want to wear 20 yards of fabric, don’t climb steps.

I have other reasons for criticizing her – did you see the photo or watch the clip of her middle-fingering the press just after the Oscars? She’s one classy dame (NOT!) – could you imagine Grace Kelly ever doing such a thing? Hollywood died several decades ago – they just don’t recognize it.

I’d have trouble navigating steps too, if I couldn’t see my feet and the steps. It’s a pretty dress. Pretty, but dangerous. I seem to remember someone being there to help ladies up the steps at some awards shows in the past. That would have been helpful. Now, if I knew Hugh Jackman was sitting close by, I might just trip on purpose. At least the dress made the fall appear less awkward, since you couldn’t see her feet getting tangled up.

Please tell me Ms. Lawrence has not been brainwashed into progressive “cool” society.

She is an absolutely beautiful, stunny, and talented angel. And quick frankly looks amazing in that dress like a real woman.

I pray she does not disappoint as so many who gain popularity in pop culture. Glarring examples:
while I love their music, I can longer listen to Kelly Clarkson or to Katy Perry after their feiging over Obama. This list goes on and is getting to the point I cannot watch anymore movies, TV, or listen to music as my blood boils knowing these talented people are lost to socialism lie.

The vile comments on here disgust me. Jennifer Lawrence is a good person and is also a Conservative Republican that enjoys hunting. The fact that someone with that background won is refreshing. She recovered from the fall with grace and her speech was genuine. This is a non story and now you look like MSNBC attacking someone for drinking water. Good for this girl and her achievements. People we need to lift actors and actresses that share our values. Not dig at them because even though they are conservative they participate in the liberal Hollywood machine. Hollywood is influential whether we like it to be or not so we need to support the Bruce Willises and Jennifer Lawrences because they share our values.

      @DLV

She doesn’t talk much to the media about her personal life, by choice, but she’s on record as saying “Screw PETA” and had no issue gutting a real squirrel for a movie. She also mentioned that she wants to buy a shotgun. She grew up in Kentucky as well. While not iron clad, her few public statements strongly point towards a far less than Leftist view of the world. Plus, she’s cute. :)

No big deal. Lots of people over the years have tripped going up the stairs. I remember Marisa Tomei did it when she won for My Cousin Vinny 20 years ago(yes, it’s been THAT long). On the flipside, I was impressed by Christopher Plummer at 82 years of age giddily running up the stairs last year to accept his award.

LOL…yeah sure YOURSENSEI/MONICNE/PANTY/HORSIE/WANGO/ad nauseum..a celebration of the arts. So a fratboy level production number called “I saw your b00bs” falls flat. Or when the producers of the show are also the producers of numerous musicals and shamelessly foisted their own productions of Chicago. etc.on the audience throughout the entire telecast in order to gin up a little business for their own shows that’s what an empty-headed drop kick like you calls “celebration of the arts”. I haven’t seen Silver Linings Playbook yet, but, I have seen Winter’s Bone and The Hunger Games and know she has an amazing talent. I love movies inspite of Hollywoods left lean. That was so much fun to watch. Idiot celebretard yanking at the top of her dress which must have felt like it was falling under the gravity-defying weight of the rest of that cartoon dress. What a maroon! If that had been our beloved Empress, I think I’d save it and watch it every day. Next time, paint your boobs with glue, wear sneakers and cut about 3 ft of fabric off that silly dress. This was so perfect. Whose idea were those stairs? That was a mine field – maybe they plan these things for attention. No idea who she is and couldn’t care less. Thanks Blaze for stories to make us giggle.

Let’s keep the ‘Oscars’ in perspective, please.

Exactly what are the Academy Awards, you ask? They are the annual recognition of the individual’s ability to pretend to be something, or someone, they are NOT! It is the honoring of supreme falsehood. Nothing more. Oh, and the Owebamas? They fit right in. Barry could have shown up with his golf clubs and there would have been tears.

My sister, who lives with me, is obsessed with Hollywood and their gross glitterati. I finally had to leave the room, sicked, as, even before the first award was coronated, the host sang a lengthy song about seeing the boobs of famous actresses. They were constantly pushing the envelope of what constitutes bad manners, tasteless crudity, and crass perversity!
If this is what constitutes “entertainment”, we are lost beyond what I could ever have imagined could be the worst we could do! Our civilization is sick beyond cure!

Hollywood….the voice for Obama, was the royal couple there to take a victory lap too? Wouldn’t surprise me! I just saw Retired Com.
