‘Oh My God’: Yes — The Oscars Really Did Have Michelle Obama Present the Best Picture Honors

(Photo: Pete Souza/White House)
First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise cameo at the Academy Awards Sunday night, joining Jack Nicholson to present the Oscar for best picture.
Her message was broadcast on a screen from the White House.
She told the cheering crowd (all subsequent emphasis added):
“Welcome to the White House, everyone. I am so honored to help introduce this year’s nominees for best picture, and to help celebrate the movies that lift our spirits, broaden our minds, and transport us to places we have never imagined…
“These 9 movies took us back in time and all around the world. They made us laugh, they made us weep, and they made us grip our arm rests just a little tighter. They taught us that love can endure against all odds, and transform our lives in the most surprising ways. And they reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough and fight hard enough and find the courage to believe in ourselves. These lessons apply to all of us no matter who we are, or what we look like, or who we love…“
After a short clip of the 9 contenders, Nicholson turned and faced the screen asking: “Mrs. Obama, do you have your envelope?”
“Not yet, Jack, but I’m about to,” she responded before announcing “Argo” as the best picture.
Nikki Finke, who is “live snarking” the Oscars for Deadline Hollywood, commented:
Oh My God: The Academy actually drafts First Lady Michelle Obama to help present Best Picture from presumably the White House? So unnecessary and inappropriate to inject politics into the Oscars yet again. Hollywood will get pilloried by conservative pundits tomorrow. I don’t understand this very obvious attempt to turn off right-leaning audiences. Clearly the studios only want to sell their movies to half of America.
Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin added:
Alas, none of the films nor her aides reminded her to mention the military, not those personnel behind her nor those serving overseas, an odd omission for the White House that nevertheless was pleased to have them arrayed behind her like, well, set decoration.
She did have time to give a crumb to the gay community, applauding the movies that inspire us â€no matter who we are or what we look like or who we love,†adding that “they are especially important for our young people.†(Except when they contain gruesome violence, traffic in stereotypes or use gratuitous profanity, I guess.) Real heroes, such as our servicemen and servicewomen, inspire us, too, I would think.
[...]
Still, it would have been grand if the lefty-maligned “Zero Dark Thirty†(which showed the nasty interrogation techniques her husband deplored) had won Best Picture. Unfortunately, that sort of perfect karma happens only in the movies.

Also, anyone wondering why Iran would care enough to cover her up? Why should they care. She is after all a Christian.

For the first time in my life I am ASHAMED OF WHAT AMERICA HAS BECOME under the auspices of these bottomfeeders of humanity.
But I am so proud at the amazing mainstreet Americans I have met at rallies becuase of these bottom feeders in what was the highest office of the land.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 12:46pmYup, Hollywood is liberal. It has always been liberal and will always be liberal. And proud of it. And conservatives will continue to whine about it while they pay money to watch movies.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 10:37amYes, since we supported The Man, let US goto the White House now and get our payback.
It was better than her bringing the entire staff to Hollyweird, on a jet, tying up the already crowded LA freeways, just to be at one event. I mean she saved US a boat-load of money. Yeah. Right. Whatever.
If they see our faces enough…. maybe they’ll immortalize us, make graven images and place them in every square in Amerika….. just like Lenin and the lot of them.
Straight up – REALLY glad I don’t have the “stupid box” hooked up to the STATE Media sources.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 10:40amBTW – most of what’s made now is done outside the borders of the US…. because its cheaper, less reg’s, and a bit more freedom in the creativity-side of things.
Just another premium outsourcing industry of the United States – unlike GE who creates a boat-load of jobs each day!

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 10:16amI gave up watching the Oscars a long time ago I was tired of the self important air heads that read script and then try to sound like authorities on everything. I was also tired of all the 10 or 15 pat themselves on the back awards they give out on TV so they can all dress up and look stupid and fawn over each other.
Now I have a new reason to avoid the I’m super parties, “Michele Obama,” who cares anyway. She seems to think she is the queen appearing on TV shows like the hags and Ellen, who cares why doesn’t she stick to her faux garden and keep partying on our Tax dollars.
Kind of makes you wonder how much it cost to get her to Hollywood to strut her fat butt on stage to show off.

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 7:49pmAs expected, The the racists (not patriots) have a problem with Mrs. Obama, in a silver dress by designer Naaem Khan, was as glamorous as any of the women who walked the red carpet, only racists don’t agree with this!
The cameras and crew were most likely paid for by the show’s producers. Taxpayers may have footed the bill for a meal for the service men and women in attendance, maybe some overtime for those same people. Are you so miserly that you’d begrudge an evening at the White House for those service men and women? What in blazes is wrong with you? Is your hatred for the Obamas that deep that such an irrational criticism seems logical? Your continued reference to the FLOTUS as “Moochelle” shows a lack of character as well as a diminished intellect.
I find it funny that everyone forgets that Laura Bush was part of the Oscars in 2002, and Ronald Reagan was a part of the Oscars in 1981. I don’t remember there being this much made of them….oh wait they were White so it doesn’t matter!

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 3:59pmI am no fan of the Obama’s politics. But, this is actually the sort of thing that a first lady should be doing. Ribbon cuttings, ceremonies, etc… There are a lot of people who are interested in this sort of thing up and down the electorate. She was elequent, stylish and dignified. What more can you ask of your first lady.

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 3:19pmI have been convinced for a long time she is going to run. And don’t say “She has no experience..” – that didn’t stop an uninformed electorate from electing Obama.
To test myself, I always say, if a Republican did this, would I feel the same way? Laura Bush on the Oscar podium I would think so low class. Our president just shouldn’t lower himself that way. I remember Nixon saying, “Sock it to me” on Laugh in, and thinking, our president should not do this. Go dance on Jimmy Fallon or something. It’s so low class.

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 3:06pmJust when I thought that the show could not get much worse.
The fact that the producers of the show would feel the need to stoop down to the Celebrity Kool Aid Drinking level for their show was bad enough.
Add in the “uplifting” words by the 1st Lady and the stiff/staged military props behind her….
Had I not been sitting in the room with a lib family member, I would have thrown something at the TV.
Bad on ya to the producers and to Jack Nicholson for being party to that ultra-hokey stunt.

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 3:06pmThis totally reminded me of communist Poland 25 years ago (where I’m from). The ‘leaders’ would present all kinds of awards to actors and directors for creating propaganda… It was really creepy to see that yesterday. Now all we need is for Obama to pass down his dictatorial powers to one of his kids and we’ll be just like any other peoples’ republic out there.

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 3:03pmThese manipulative “speeches” of theirs, with so much effort dedicated to entwining their propagandist movie themes and twisted mores within their manipulative agenda, are rapidly getting crazier and more “out there.”
Just ONE of the many manipulative “messages” in that uninvited brainwashing session was the classic Communist idea that, “I’m just a tiny part of something much bigger….”
Translation: “We are all just drones.”
An indoctrinated best friend, at the very moment of the ever-present personality “transformation” through rapid brainwashing and re-education, actually said to me, “I’m just a worker bee….”
Which wasn’t true at all (at least it seemed so at the time), and I was quite alarmed to hear ANYONE say this, as well as witness all the disturbing changes.
It was also the exact time in her life she very suddenly moved a long distance into her first owned home, OVER NIGHT had a whole new group of odd friends, dumped her unindoctrinated friends, and began an ongoing streak of getting absolutely everything she ever wanted in life..
I very much got the strong impression that she had been “counseled” to make this “worker bee” “confession” in exchange for the green light on life, courtesy of her newly-minted friendship cluster in the vast Illuminati network.
