‘Oh My God’: Yes — The Oscars Really Did Have Michelle Obama Present the Best Picture Honors

Michelle Obama Presents Best Picture at the Oscars in Surprise Appearance

First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise cameo at the Academy Awards Sunday night, joining Jack Nicholson to present the Oscar for best picture.

Her message was broadcast on a screen from the White House.

She told the cheering crowd (all subsequent emphasis added):

“Welcome to the White House, everyone.  I am so honored to help introduce this year’s nominees for best picture, and to help celebrate the movies that lift our spirits, broaden our minds, and transport us to places we have never imagined…

“These 9 movies took us back in time and all around the world.  They made us laugh, they made us weep, and they made us grip our arm rests just a little tighter.  They taught us that love can endure against all odds, and transform our lives in the most surprising ways.  And they reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough and fight hard enough and find the courage to believe in ourselves.  These lessons apply to all of us no matter who we are, or what we look like, or who we love…

After a short clip of the 9 contenders, Nicholson turned and faced the screen asking: “Mrs. Obama, do you have your envelope?”

“Not yet, Jack, but I’m about to,” she responded before announcing “Argo” as the best picture.

Nikki Finke, who is “live snarking” the Oscars for Deadline Hollywood, commented:

Oh My God: The Academy actually drafts First Lady Michelle Obama to help present Best Picture from presumably the White House? So unnecessary and inappropriate to inject politics into the Oscars yet again. Hollywood will get pilloried by conservative pundits tomorrow. I don’t understand this very obvious attempt to turn off right-leaning audiences. Clearly the studios only want to sell their movies to half of America.

Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin added:

Alas, none of the films nor her aides reminded her to mention the military, not those personnel behind her nor those serving overseas, an odd omission for the White House that nevertheless was pleased to have them arrayed behind her like, well, set decoration.

She did have time to give a crumb to the gay community, applauding the movies that inspire us ”no matter who we are or what we look like or who we love,” adding that “they are especially important for our young people.” (Except when they contain gruesome violence, traffic in stereotypes or use gratuitous profanity, I guess.) Real heroes, such as our servicemen and servicewomen, inspire us, too, I would think.

[...]

Still, it would have been grand if the lefty-maligned “Zero Dark Thirty” (which showed the nasty interrogation techniques her husband deplored) had won Best Picture. Unfortunately, that sort of perfect karma happens only in the movies.

It was a great thing to have her present. It was wonderful. I am so sorry I missed it….

What a marvelous opportunity for the public to share in the perks of this history making presidency. We hardly ever see her or her husband anymore. It’s been how long? Five minutes??

But all of a sudden, I feel a strange longing for Laura – no Barbara Bush. Or was it Rosalyn Carter? No, wait – It may be Betty Ford – or was it Pat Nixon ??

Ben Affleck and George Clooney are such big supporters of Obama that having Michelle announce them winning the award is part of the payback for getting him reelected. At least she stayed in DC and didn’t spend millions traveling to LA to present it live. This way, we only had to foot the bill for her gown, makeup and hairdo.

So did the American taxpayer pay for her dress? If so, how much? Who paid for the whole setup at the white house? What was the total cost to the taxpayer to have Michelle appear on the Oscars???

    Blaze Staff,
    Hello….
    Is 5there anybody in there?
Who cares about the oscars? I worked hard at ignoring that staged dog and pony act, yet I open the blaze and see sveral stories. You waste space on too much garbage of the world, that means nothing.
    Meaningless, meaningless under the sun.

The military officers used for “back drop” are, most likely, embarrassed to near tears to be used in this manner.

Reminds me of the early Clinton years when a military aide was told to help out fetching drinks at a White House soiree.

“What at this point does it matter?” HRC

Why would any of you spend one moment of your life watching an award show that votes itself the best of the best? Linda like a mutual admiration socitity fillled with people who indulge in self importance. Your being played by the people you say your against?

It is giving them way too much credit to say they (Obama’s/Democraps) are degrading the office of the president. The degradation is already complete, only the brain dead sycophant’s that fawn over these plastic narcissists like stupid girls at a 1960’s Beatle’s concert believe the Obama’s actually “grace” the White House.

Democrat Progressives have no respect for the office or the White House. Anyone remember when Bush was elected?…the pathetic children that work for the Democrat Party and the White House at the time in the Clinton Admin Removed all the “W’s” from all the office keyboards before turning over the spaces to Bush staffers. Infantile to say the least, disrespectful to an elected president by most standards. Bush left the White House demanding nothing but respect from his staff for Obama and gave the newly crowned oracle a king’s welcome.

Democrats “Demand” respect for their sitting presidents and are shocked by the lack thereof shown by their detractors, yet when a Republican is elected they snarl and get so worked up that they get that little bit of foam in the corners of their mouth while they spew the most vile stuff imaginable.

I do not watch the Oscars, nor go to the movies. The Oscars is a bunch of elitists spewing mental bodily fluid over each other, and movie theaters are full of inconsiderate people that cant let their freaking smart phones go dark for ten seconds.

And the Oscar for the best fiction Movie goes to the National Media. Who stared in their ongoing version of “Incurious B@stards”. They have been so good at covering up the Soetoros criminal activity that millions of stupid People will waste an entire evening watching them fawn over each other for lying to the American People. Then bring up the head liar to give out the award.I am now convinced that at least half of America’s population is brain dead.

Reminds me of Imelda Marcos II…. 2700 pairs of shoes…

What a hypocrite, she spews Marx & Engels dialectic of Materialism, claiming to be for the poor and middle class, then trots out on the stage in a gown and shoes which all the tax payers on this web page paid for, that could have been used to fed hundreds to thousands of starving children. But no… the money has to be thrown away on Michelle and her personal image. Sorry kids, you will have to go to bed hungry for a few days, we all must do our FAIR part, so the “michelle the great”, can make her entrance…. After all, you should feel honored, you actually got to see her on TV, that should help your hunger paings go away, Right? The words classless, glittery, plastic, shallow, and game show host, come to mind concerning this woman and her performance,

Michelle should make a movie, and then she can present the Oscar to herself because she is a legend in her own mind!

HHer message has always been loud and clear.
Do as she says, not as she does.
Shes one money hungry piece of work.

Guess the word work is pretty inappropriate when talking about her. Best way to starve her to death would be to hide her taxpayer funded food stamps under her work boots.

Man, I get up this morning and turn on the tube and net…all the talk is about the Oscars. Is the Oscars really that important to Americans? Geez, I’ve never watched it. And I don’t plan to. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just a show where a bunch of self-important elitist commies sit around and pat each other on the back. I have no need for that garbage. I wouldn’t get off the couch and walk 2 feet for a front row seat to that swill.

As far as Moochelle…ugh. What can you say? The Obamas fit nicely into the Hollyweird crowd…they’re communists, pretend for a living and like to think they’re better than everyone else, all the while being totally useless to humanity.
