Teen Flash Mob Shuts Down Ford City Mall in Chicago After Mindless Behavior Concert

Nineteen teenagers have been arrested following a frightening disturbance that shut down a Chicago shopping mall and left two people with minor injuries.

Chicago police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak says the teens arrested Saturday were males and females ranging in age from ages 13 to 18. Mall general manager John Sarama said the chaos involved hundreds of “somewhat organized” youth.

“It’s like a mob scene, just jumping on cars, breaking windows,” witness Moses Khativ told ABC7/WLS.

Most are charged with misdemeanor mob action, but a 16-year-old has been charged with battery of a mall security guard who was trying to evacuate the mall.

“I left my sign outside the door where it has a logo and everything, and they picked that up and threw it at people,” mall employee Jasmine Murillo said. “They were throwing it at security, police, kids, anything. Anything they found, they picked up and started throwing.”

One male teen reportedly threw a wad of small bills numbering about $100 in total, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

“I don’t understand what the purpose of that was other than it caused a bit more commotion,” Sarama commented.

Video purporting to show the flash mob highlights a massive group of teens blocking traffic and generally wreaking havoc outside. Around 25 seconds in, the camera zooms in on a young man holding a chair.

“Throw that bi***! Throw that bi***!” someone urges him over and over. Within seconds, the young man throws the chair at the back window of a moving vehicle, shattering the glass:

“Let’s get it! Let’s get it!” the cameraman appears to yell after the glass shatters. Some in the crowd cheer on the young criminal, but most just keep walking.

According to ABC7 the destructive group dispersed from the mall to other local businesses, where they continued to cause a disturbance.

Ford City Mall senior general manager John Sarama says the incident wasn’t related to an appearance by the boy band “Mindless Behavior,” which ended about 45 minutes earlier. But some of the bystanders thought the events were at least somewhat connected.

“It’s horrible,” Murillo added. “It’s like young kids, you get an opportunity to meet one of your favorite stars, and look at how you react to that.”

Why do i need more than ten rounds for personal protection? This is a perfect example of why high capacity magazines are needed. This video should be played every time the question of magazine capacity is posed. I need to be able to protect myself from behavior such as this.

  Exactly. If you live in areas where there are large enclaves of Obama-voting, no-responsibility residents, who have violent offspring who’d more sooner stomp on your head after you slipped on the ice than to help you up, who are just like the vagrant, mob-mentality-ne’er-do-well’s in this video, then you need to be able to take out a dozen of them in seconds, before they KILL you.

i got a good buy on 5 hatchets at my hardware store. I put them above all my doors in the house. All i have to do is reach up and grab one if I need to chop a burgler into pieces. Nice and sharp and small enough for my wife to handle. life is great

  We buy switchblades (serrated edge, lightning bolt action) and have them placed all over the house for just in case scenarios. Oh, and stun guns and asbatons and the occasional pistol, too. Rather be safe than sorry.

  That is not true. I have had conversations with reasoned and intelligent Africans, who are shocked by the behavior of the Blacks in America. There are also people like Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, and Allen West. This isn’t in their genes. This is what happens to ANYONE who is raised in a collective “society,” that encourages irresponsibility and doesn’t challenge them to be respectable, mature adults.

What kind of people live in or near Ford City? Eventually, this city will have to call for martial law, to get it under control. rahm emmanuel isn’t going to do a thing, but sit on his lazy arse and collect a salary. And yet he wants to be elected president when he can’t even control ONE town? LOL Now what would happen if the driver of that van, that was attacked, got out and shot the kid in defense of his family and children inside the van? Before the body hit the floor, Al Sharpton would be on a plane to protest. Unless of course it was another black person killing a black kid, then he wouldn’t bother.

  CDN1979 – You must be rolling in the isle at Farrakhan, Rev. Wright, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton et. al.
  When you put down the goofy grape Kool-aide and see things with 20/20 vision maybe you will be able to handle the truth. If there is a video or news story of rampaging “white” teenagers it should be posted. This video just demonstrates how quickly mob rules take over. It just so happens that these were people of “color”. There are good citizens of all “colors” who will pull together to fight for their homes and families together. So when this starts overflowing into surrounding areas beware. The silent giants will awake and you will be surprised.
