Texas Man Reportedly Draws His Gun After Someone Cuts in Line for Ammo

Ernesto Vasquez Draws His Gun When Someone Cuts in Line at Texas Ammo Store

A Texas man was arrested after drawing his gun in response to someone’s decision to “cut” him in line, KCBD reports.  The strangest part of the story?  He was waiting to buy ammunition at the Gander Mountain store in Lubbock.

Apparently demand for ammunition has been so high at the store that people have been waiting in lines that stretch out the door.  When 51-year-old Ernesto Vasquez spotted someone not waiting their turn, he brandished his firearm and threatened the customer, according to eyewitnesses.

Police were called to the scene immediately and Vasquez was arrested.  He reportedly faces charges of aggravated assault.

KCBD interviewed an NRA-certified concealed handgun license instructor on the matter, who pointed out that you should only draw your weapon “when you felt like your life was in danger or you were being robbed or sexually assaulted.”

“Just being cut in line would not be any reason to produce a gun,” Darla Granberry added.

Concealed handgun license holders have a tremendous amount of responsibility, she noted, and everyone wants to believe they are “mature and responsible and courteous adults.”

Most of the time they are, but if so, “their response to an aggravation should not be the production of a gun,” Grandberry concluded.

Texas keeps the information of concealed handgun license holders private, so it is unclear whether Vasquez actually had a permit.  If he did, it will likely be revoked after the Gander Mountain incident.

Here’s KCBD’s entire report:

It’s only an example of an idiot behaving like an idiot, nothing more. Just like the examples of gun owners protecting lives, and gun owners unnecessarily taking lives, there will always be a good and bad side to this argument and there is no need to make more of each and every news bit that makes these points.

      Hey Bum,
We didn’t pull a gun out for a line cutting,Ernesto Vasquez did. There is rampant crime in the black community do we need black control as well. If you’re going to punish an entire cultural for the acts of a few then I guess according to you WE NEED BLACK CONTROL.
Fascist are all alike you think taking liberty is the answer to every problem.Hears a clue dumass we already have laws for robbery, assault, murder, and attempting murder…..They works so well DON’T THEY. Since we established those laws none of them have happened ..Right.
Laws are only obeyed by the law abiding you don’t created safety by disarming the legal. You create it by punishing the guilty. If some uses a gun in a crime of robbery it add time to the sentence. If someone uses a gun to murder YOU MURDER THEM RIGHT BACK. And quickly If someone uses a gun in attempt to murder someone you attempted murder them right back if they survive they go to prison for life. If someone shoots to maime someone shoot to maime them. “he brandished his firearm and threatened the customer” of course the real story is how apparently easy it is for individuals who have this view of the world to get a concealed carry permit. So now can the other individual who was threatened invoke stand your ground and draw his weapon and fire.

      JROOK,
It would be easier for someone who has an askew view of the the world to buy a 6 pack and make 6 molotovs as well. Or get in a car and mow through a crowd of people,or get some bleach and drano and gas an entire build,or get a machete and go all out jason or 10,000 other ways to kill.
Islamic terrorist seem to have no trouble killing in large numbers without using firearms.
Gun control doesn’t protect people it empower criminals nothing more nothing less.
Last year alone 10 times as many people were killed with the 69,000,000 priavtely owned cars in the country than with the 220,000,000 privately own guns in the country. MAKING CARS 30 TIMES MORE DEADLY THAN GUNS.
More people were killed by ordinary house hold objects kitchen knives, bats, lamps ,basic blunt object than guns.Safety is an illusion nothing more and no matter what you do people who are determined to kill will find a way. So gun control won’t stop the killings but it will lead to more victim being killed than assailants. Basicly it would make the government responsibles for the deaths on the innocent and protection of the guilty.

2nd amendment is constitution given, not god given–whatever that means. The right to self survival is human nature, maybe that is what you meant. The ability to reason and use pragmatism is an ability that you can call ‘god-given’, and this ability may help you survive in situations without using a gun…like 99.99% of conflicts you will experience in life.

      Palter.
      1. by “..their rights stripped” you mean ALL rights or just gun rights?
      1) That a good question what rights.? If a person is not mentally
capable ,then what right /s should they be able to exercise. ?

      2. labeling gay as mental disorder is still debatable.
      2) That’s my point. If the society dictates what’s normal or not a mental problem .then it would have to be to what degree of a mental problem. Then a form a measuring . And then WHO would determine that scale.

      3. you still haven’t answer my question: should we allow mentally disorder/crazy/psycho people to walk around with gun(s) as it’s god given rights?
      3) I realize the reality of putting a firearm in the wrong hands .
But we don’t pre-crime in this country. If we are talking criminal insane . My thought on that is .if they caused that much severe pain and are that bad .they should be put to death .end of story. We use to hang people in this country for stealing a horse . I bet people would start re-thinking their actions and quit playing the crazy-card.

Also, we have a cast system now .The person with the biggest wallet and the most lawyers has a much better day in court . The poor man is crazy ..The rich man is ‘eccentric’ .

Bottom line ..Our system is broke.

      Hoot,
Hence the background check. Verify whether the person is mentally stable and has no criminal records. How we determine that? well if you believe in science, mental disorders can be identified using scientific methodology. Will we miss filtering some “crazy” people in the process, yes. but better than nothing. Same with criminal records.
I don’t see why background check and even to some extend gun license should not be introduced. we do regulate people driving car (with driving license), why not gun? people should pass background check and safety training to be able to carry one.

This guy was an idiot for sure, but do we disarm him for the rest of his life? That makes him either a target or a CRIMINAL if he ever owns a gun again. How is that good?

That is an excellent argument/comparison. In fact, I think the conservatives should propose making elections fair, transparent and the voting procedure quick, in exchange for legal guarantees that gun rights will not be infringed upon through these tactics. McCulloch v. Maryland is a case that makes the point that the power to tax is the power to destroy. Keep em cheap and keep em attainable, in exchange for letting each person vote without undue constraints. Very democratic and very American.

If the store hires guards, they are going to have to make up for that cost by charging more for guns/ammo. I agree with you though, if they see this type of incident coming, they should be the ones paying for it…they shouldn’t rely on police paid for with everyone’s tax dollars to keep their mess clean. Maybe you shouldn’t expect this type of incident because there isn’t much precedence for shopping violence outside of black thursday.

    In Texas

You don’t spit into the wind
You don’t pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger
And you don’t cut in line for ammo

WOW why does this sooooo smell like a set up to further try and make gun owners look bad?
Any takers on how the lame stream media will jump all over this?

This is another—-”sorry I ain’t buyin it” moments.

I might have fallen off of a truck last night, but it didn’t run me over.

If he’s a plant, we need to know. If not he needs to lose his CCW.. The only reason to even touch your gun is a life threatening situation. Plain and simple.

Who is masterminding all of these conspiratorial scandals? This is not the type of thing that is done by legitimate politicians…the people that do this kind of thing are like that James O’Keefe kid, not real people. Also, this guy got arrested, didn’t he? Not really a well orchestrated scandal.

      OK Blaze…….
You need to inform me of what was wrong with my response to the UNlitend1.
You censored my first post, so I put up another, and now you’ve censored that one.
      What Gives???????

There was nothing in either post that was worth being censored.
……and I thought this place respected freedom of speech,I could understand if I posted threats, or was being foul, but that is not the case.
      Again—-What Gives????

Most of the people of afghanistan had ‘real’ freedom????
That is more messed up than anything I’ve read on this site, ever. I’m not a basher of muslims, but those muslims that ran that country are not the type that approve of freedom. All of the bad things that have ever been said about muslims on this site, actually apply to the taliban and how they ran that country. You are misguided, but your name really should have hinted at that to start. Or are you kidding? Cause afghanistan before america went there was probably the least free place on earth. Is it that you just want the freedom to kill your wife for getting raped? Or maybe you want to stone people who don’t believe in your particular brand of religious extremism? you are amazingly dumb…or not good at telling a joke.

This is why it is important to teach respect for weapons at an early age. A mature attitude toward weapons allows a person’s common sense to rule that it should only be used when in fear for one’s life and only as a last resort. Too often people get their mores from movies and we need to realize that they are fantasy.
