White House Petition Demands Obama Admin Respond ‘Point-by-Point’ to Columbine Survivor’s Anti-Gun Control Letter

Columbine survivor Evan Todd’s open letter to President Barack Obama about gun violence spawned a plethora of interest. Following its publication, the survivor, who opposes firearms control, appeared on Glenn Beck’s television show, Fox News, “The Sean Hannity Show” and a multitude of other programs. Now, a petition has emerged on the White House web site, urging people to sign on an effort to force officials to respond to Todd’s grievances.

The petition, created by TheBlaze Radio’s Doc Thompson on Feb. 21, 2013, asks the Obama administration to “answer, point-by-point, Columbine survivor Evan Todd’s open letter to the [president] regarding gun control legislation.” A description of the effort briefly recaps the fact that Todd was injured during the April 20, 1999, attack on his high school — and that the survivor believes the president’s gun control policies will inevitably fail.

“Evan has penned an open letter to [the president] with one of the smartest, thorough explanations to date,” the description continues. “The American people deserve to hear why [the president] disagrees.”

White House Petition Demands Obama Admin Respond Point by Point to Columbine Survivors Anti Gun Control Letter

A screen shot from the White House petition site

According Thompson, the public is entitled to more than “talking points with flawed logic.” With this reasoning, the hope is that the petition will gain enough signatures to be read and adequately responded to by administration officials.

Petitions must receive 100,000 signatures in 30 days in order to spawn a reply from Obama’s team. Previously, this number was set at 25,000 (and 5,000 before that), but after a litany of petitions that weren’t necessarily legitimate or important reaching this number, the bar has been raised.

Currently, the plea for a response to Todd has just over 100 signatures, with a deadline to reach 100,000 set for March 23. Read the original letter here.

Editor’s Note: The author of this article regularly works on speaking tours and educational projects with Evan Todd.

Only those who love this country and truly want to serve its citizens care about petitions. Get my drift?

I won’t sign it or any other petition to the liberals, not because I’m scared of them, but because they have made it perfectly clear that they just don’t give a s**t about our opinion. Most of the Republicans in the WH don’t care anymore, either. There are a few, so save your “John Hancock” for those who actually care to hear what you have to say. I guarantee, Obama does not…

Guys, please visit wh.gov/wwSu to sign another petition, that allows healthy gay men to donate blood. This can save many lives per year, and there is no reason for this current setup.

Also tweet out the link with #BloodDonorJustice if you care about human rights and how our country takes care of its citizens.

I’ve read lots of bravado statements, such as “Lock & Load”, “from my cold dead hands”, etc, in response to decrees and orders from the obamanation regarding gun policies. But now the Big Talkers are afraid to sign this petition – frightened they’ll be put “on a list” as a gun owner.
Our fore fathers risked EVERYTHING by signing the Declaration of Independance. Yet today the “big talkers” who advise all to “lock & load” are frightened to sign this petition.
Time to put some “skin in the game”. The petition must receive 100,000 signatures in 30 days in order to spawn a reply. As of 07:10PM CST it has 737 people with enough guts to STAND UP.
    SIGN IT !

See this is what I like about conservatives. Not afraid to call out each others b.s. Yeah, signing it may not do anything, but you have to be willing to do whatever it takes. Even if we can get a story that 100,000 signatures or more where on this petition…it is something. Take a page from the progressive handbook. Every little bit counts. Do you believe in our God given rights, or do you just like to sound tough on the internet?

If you think this is doing something, it’s no wonder the country is in the state it is in. I’ll save my time and write another couple of letters to my state and federal reps.

oh please, even if there is a point by point response, it will most certainly be written by some desk monkey trained to make odumbo look like he knows what he’s talking about..
Odumbo couldn’t answer any question with relative clarity and knowledge on any subject without writers and his teleprompters or those nifty new hidden ear pieces..
If odumbo is going to answer anything ever again, he should do so without teleprompters or the ear piece!
Lets see how smart, the so called smartest man in the room really is for once!!! Anyone willing to bet he’d suffer a horrible golf accident that would keep him away from the press for weeks, months or perhaps his entire term, were this type of situation to be instituted?!?!?

And if they want to try and somehow “do away” with speaking their mind, well I say come and try that on me first. I guess I’d rather know the truth than not know the truth while I do nothing and hoards of people are harassed, incarcerated, or otherwise indisposed for merely exercising their 1st Amendment right. Freedom is always a choice, even if you have inherited it. I don’t believe ignorance won’t be an excuse in front of God. So again I say, “Me first.”

Do you mean to tell me you don’t believe the comments here are tracked. This is the first place they’ll track small government minded people.
