Bob Woodward, one of the most lauded journalists alive today, created a firestorm in the media after eviscerating President Obama’s handling of the sequester both in his new book and in a Washington Post article.

Specifically, Woodward targets the administration’s repeated claims that the sequester is happening because of the Republicans when in fact, he writes, “the automatic spending cuts were initiated by the White House and were the brainchild of [former White House chief of staff Jack Lew] and White House congressional relations chief Rob Nabors…Obama personally approved of the plan…”

But the administration has continued issuing dire warnings of what will happen if the sequestration goes through, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has called Woodward “willfully wrong” in his reporting.

A Fox News panel on Megyn Kelly’s show “America Live” discussed the controversy Monday, seeming to conclude that such insider squabbles turn average Americans away from politics, though it is of the utmost importance to determine whether the president is intentionally misleading the country.

After Fox News contributor Julie Roginsky said the whole mess makes her happy she no longer lives in D.C., she stated: “My point is actually the larger point, which is, who cares whose stupid idea this was? …I don’t even care if it is the president’s fault.”

But Breitbart editor-at-large Ben Shapiro noted that “the White House does this on a regular basis” and doesn’t have the right to portray the sequester as a Republican-contrived “end of 2012 the movie” scenario if it was in fact their idea.

“We’re at the point now where we don’t really expect Washington to tell us the truth,” Kelly concluded with only mild surprise.  “It’s not that big a shock.”

Shapiro concluded with a note on how the issue is representative of the larger relationship between the administration and the media: “This is the White House that is vindictive.  They treat the media as though they are the abusive father, and the children who are being abused are the media.  If they’re good, abusive father treats them well today.  If they’re bad, out to the outhouse they go.”

    Kind of ironic how Barry decries the horrid fallout from the evil Sequestration of $85 Billion (which he falsely attributes to Republicans).

    It would be most entertaining if some journalist (if that species is not truly extinct) would ask him this question in the White House Newsroom, “Mr. President, we understand from your statements recently, that you are truly concerned about the potentially horrendous impact of the $85 Billion in cuts from the Sequestration. Don’t you think it would be nice right now to have the $787 Billion you spent on the Porkulus bill?”

    I believe Barry might simultaneously hiccup, pass gas and disappear up his own fundamental orifice. Either that or we would see some truly amazing tap dancing.

      Let’s see, I believe it was Saul Alinsky who said, “The ends justify the means”.
      In other words, if you can get away with “Lies”, by the media, and others, you can make voters believe the “Lies”.
      Fast and Furious, Shovel Ready Jobs, Obamacare, Benghazi, Sequestor, etc.
      All of these are full of “Lies”!!!
      Julie, it does make a difference if a president “Lies”.

      The economy is in the tank, “What diference does it make anyway”? I think the point that they are making with these silly questions is that they’re going to do what they want to us no matter how loudly we complain. As Hillary might say; We’re going to be a Marxist or Fascist nation in the end so… What difference does it make anyway?

    The “message” from the White House is very clear to me, and it’s that THEY decide what is the truth and what is not.

    So sit down and shut up. What does it matter if the cause of Benghazi was an obscure movie or a declared to be dead (by THEM) Al Qaeda, or if the sequestration was THEIR good idea or a bad Republican idea? THEY decide what is true and what is not.

    As we saw last night, Michelle Obama is the only one worthy of announcing the top Academy Award. Gee, THEY are so much better than the rest of us. So sit down and shut up.

    I’ve always been interested in Bob Woodward’s investigative work, and his article about how the sequester originated from the White House (though Republicans were more than happy to pass it in Congress) was another fine example of Obama’s lies.

    While I think the sequester is a lousy piece of legislation and really only a drop in the bucket compared to the remaining deficit, at least there will be SOME cut in spending. That’s more than I can say has been done by either political party in at least a decade.

    I’m so tired of hearing the terms “over the cliff” “sequestration”, “debt ceiling”, and now we’re talking a possible govt. shutdown at the end March…message to the congress….**** or get off the pot. It goes from one crisis to the next….all self inflicted by the idiots who run this “govt.” Amazing how 435 idiots trying to undo the laws that THEY passed, that we who pay their salaries, have to abide by.

      Looks to me like the EASY solution to being “tired of Government and Politics” is to KILL all politicians and to DESTROY the current Government in favor of something that “seems most likely to effect (sp?) our safety and happiness”.
      Wake me when you get the gigantic “Red Dawn” “Hun Circle” going just outside the Beltloop that slays Every Living Creature inside with Fire and Sword. Except for the Ruling Class Aristos you “sequester” for “Madame Guillotine.”
      I am reminded how when Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones got “tired” at one point in “Raiders” he simply pulled out his pistol and SHOT the sombeech.

    Whoa, I’m getting quite uncomfortable with the words “who cares”? I was jaw-dropping appalled when Hillary said it about the Benghazi attack; now here are those words again from someone who, in my opinion, should care. If Julie Roginsky doesn’t care that the White House is being this deceitful get her the heck off the TV; what is she “contributing” to Fox News. Not much I’d say.

    The only people in their right minds in Washington are those in SUPPORT of the Sequester! I mean, REALLY. Those calling for individual depts. having more control over which specific line items to cut are fair-minded. Those AGAINST Sequester should be automatically recalled and fired. Those running around like Chicken Little lying and fear-mongering need be tarred and feathered in a VERY public venue.
    Fact is, we really need 30% across the board (for starters) to include “Mandatory” spending as well as Discretionary. This Sequester is just over 2% and only of Discretionary spending, which is only like 35% total budget!?
    If anyone reading this post has personally cut >2% of their “discretionary” expenditures and lived…can I get an Amen!?

    The sequester was actually obama’s idea, but, it doesn’t really matter, because the so-called sequester “cuts” aren’t really cuts at all – they are minuscule, meaningless and will have zero effect. We need REAL cuts – If we are to survive as a nation, we must slash the size and scope of obama’s rogue government. We must let obama’s sequester happen – so that America can see that it’s all a hoax – the histrionics over the sequester are ridiculous.

      The problem is there’s a large number of idiots out there that believe every BS lie that spews from Barry’s constantly flapping lips.They think the country will dissolve if these miniscule ‘cuts’ are made and as you pointed out they’re not cuts anyway because the government hogs have never made any cuts in the history of the country and I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.We need to eliminate several departments to make any real progress and end ALL forms of welfare.

      Except for people like me, Civil service will send us home one day a week starting in April, that equates to a $6,000 pay cut. But Obama can spend what they are saving by sending us home during his 100 city tour, which will cost about 30 million, and they are saving 38.2M. sending us home. So this entire thing is the “Close the Washington monument” strategy. Hurt people just to prove a point not to actually make smart cuts.

      DARMOK, I was still in the Army during the ’95 budget kerfluffle and stationed here in the states. All of the DA Civilians were sent home on what essentially became a Clinton vacation, but some started to see through the blame game on the Republicans just like some will see through it again here. When they know that it is the Democrats screwing them without a kiss afterwards, some mindsets may start changing again. But, there was that big buy off with back pay once they came back to work.

      I was in the military back then also, that was during a shut down. This will be different. What they will do is just send us home one day a week, with no pay, we just claim 0 hours for that day, and they will do this until the end of the Fiscal year, Sept 30. 22 days total, and for me that equates to about $5,800. They may avert this, but if it goes through, instead of cutting trips, BS conferences, and such, they will just hurt the little guys, because that will get more people screaming about what the “EVIL GOP” made them do.
