GAO Report Finds Obamacare Likely to Add $6.2 Trillion to the Deficit

Government Accountability Office: ObamaCare Will Increase Deficit by $6.2 Trillion

A recent analysis by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office (GAO) reveals that President Obama’s health care overhaul is likely to add $6.2 trillion to the deficit over the next 75 years.

It is just the latest report to contradict President Obama’s repeated claims that the Affordable Care Act, often referred to as “Obamacare,” will not add “one dime” to the deficit and is in fact the fiscally responsible decision.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), the Senate Budget Committee’s top Republican, requested the report from the GAO and discussed its findings Tuesday.

“The results of this brand new report confirm everything critics and Republicans were saying about the cost of this bill, and reveal the dramatic falsehoods that were used to push it to passage,” he stated.

After highlighting President Obama’s pledge that he would “not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits, either now or in the future. Period,” Sessions continued: “The GAO’s investigation reveals these claims to be false.”

“According to the GAO, with a realistic set of assumptions, the health care law will increase the deficit by seven tenths of 1% of GDP, or roughly $6.2 trillion over the next 75 years,” he said. “In other words, the GAO reveals that the big tax increases in the bill come nowhere close to covering the even more massive spending.”

National Review has a copy of the GAO report and Sessions’ remarks:

While many studies thus far have focused on a ten-year projection, which includes several years of extra taxes before the program is actually implemented, the GAO attempted to look decades into the future, factoring in an aging population, economic growth, and the mandatory spending that would come with more people getting their health care through the government.

They didn’t decisively determine that the debt would increase by $6.2 trillion, but said much of it hinges on total enrollment in government programs, whether cost-containment measures are sustained, and whether excess costs can be trimmed.

The GAO didn’t seem optimistic, however. Here’s what they had to say in their findings:

According to the Hill, Democrats are countering claims that Obamacare increases the deficit by citing a report from the Congressional Budget Office that says, at this point, overturning the law will cost $109 billion over ten years.

Either way, one of Sessions’ points seems clear: “The big-government crowd in Washington manipulated the numbers to get the financial score they wanted, to get their bill passed and to increase their power and influence.”

Who could’ve seen this coming huh? You’ll be able to keep your doctor as well and I know this because a skinny Marxist POS said so,it must be true huh? The big eared candy@ss knows exactly what he’s doing,he’s going to make it too expensive for employers to provide health insurance so they’ll all be dumped into the loving caring arms of the POS government currently destroying our country.

Look at Flint MI the A hole of Michigan,one of the hospitals I don’t recall which one is getting rid of nurses with twenty thirty years experience to hire nurses with two and three years experience. It seems it’s too expensive to pay them with our new and improved health care. This is just the beginning and when it really hits,when you’re typical Obama idiot worshiper gets pinched they’ll see.
Of course by then it’ll be too late,hell it’s too late already.

  What they (GAO ) didn’t assume was a more realistic inflation. My small cup of coffee and two plain cake doughnut inflation index says on average inflation is running around 6 percent per year. So that $6.2 trillion will balloon to $10 trillion or more
  
  By the way.
  The U.S. Treasure Dept announced our federal government is spending almost $38,000.00 per second.
  
  The Sequester: 85 Billion over 10 years or 8.5 billion per year or $23,287,671 per day or $970,319 per hour or $16,171 per minute or $269.53 per second.
  
  They are going to slow the growth government spending by $270.00 per second? BIG DEAL.
  
  $270/$38,000 amount to .007 percent of government. BIG Fringen Deal

OMG the GAO lied about the numbers to get the Tyrant in Chief elected. Who could have seen that coming? The entire population residing and working in Washington DC are nothing more than a bunch of liars.

On another note, one of the republican’s favorite governors, Chris Christie just had his office release his budget and he is going to take the federal $$ to expand Medicaid. Who would have seen this coming, especially from a “conservative”. His state is broke, he has to defer property tax relief to the actual taxpayers so that he can give more $$ to the leaches who suck on the teat of the taxpayer. New Jersey you deserve him like New Yorker’s deserve nanny Bloomberg.

$6.2 Trillion is WILDLY optimistic because the debt will have destroyed the Dollar in the meantime.

Obama is printing so much worthless money that the US will be downgraded again and again, causing interest rates to rise, causing the US to default on debt repayments, causing the death of the Dollar.

  4 months before the election the economy had seen a 3% growth with expectations we were coming out of the recession, but lying got Clinton elected and the press never said Boo about it.

Those are the years where one is supposed to be setting aside for your retirement, but instead they’ll be paying for all those socialist programs that President Marxist is busy putting in place with their support.
