Liberal Commentator Lambastes Obama’s Oscars ‘Intrusion’ During Piers Morgan Interview: It Had a ‘Monarch Quality’ and an ‘Elitist Flavor to It’

First Lady Michelle Obama’s appearance at the Oscars is still creating some buzz. Interestingly, while conservatives have widely decried her announcement of the Best Picture at the year’s most important entertainment awards ceremony, it seems some liberals have also joined in the mix.

On Monday night, television personality Donny Deutsch appeared on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” where he lambasted Obama’s participation in the show, calling her an “uninvited guest” and an “intrusion.”

When asked by Morgan if the first lady should have been included, Deutsch said, “absolutely not.” His main argument hinged on the notion that Obama was essentially an unwelcome political intrusion. At an event that focuses exclusively upon entertainment and film, he argued that she added an unneeded political dynamic to the evening.

“As far as I’m concerned, she was an uninvited guest,” Deutsch said. “Now what I mean by that is, you have to give the consumer, the viewer, the ultimate respect. They have tuned in to watch movie stars, to watch movies. And all of a sudden, politics is thrown at them.”

He went on to say that the tone was also unpalatable. Describing himself as a Democrat in an effort to showcase that his views aren’t rooted in political bias against the first lady, Deutsch said that Obama’s brief speech had a “monarch quality” and an “elitist flavor to it.”

  Wonder what names you called Pres. Roosevelt, Pres. Reagan and Laura Bush when they made appearances at the Oscars. Yes, I know, you’ll go all Malkin on me and make excuses that Roosevelt’s appearance was by radio, Reagan’s because he use to be part of the Screen Actor’s Guild, and Bush’s was just a short cameo on a video. But, we all know that they DID appear on the Oscars in one way or another while in office, just as our First Lady did. Why the double standard?

  I hope what I am seeing is the Liberal Media turning on the POTUS for not letting them have 24/7 access to him. It was funny to see him chase them out of his meeting with the Governor’s…it was like…ok, please take the children from the room so I can scold these bad teenagers for not playing nice in my school yard. I truely believe he has overplayed his card and knows he may loose the media. He cannot blame Bush anymore. For Bush’s last two years the House and Senate were under Democratic control. He has had control for six years now and has done nothing but take the country down the rabbit hole. He couldn’t find his big boy pants with a drug sniffing dog and Seal Team Six…game over and we all have lost.

  OOOOOOH YEAH!!! It is plainly obvious that MOOCHELLE used the clout of HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY ODUMMER to wedge her way into this slot. After all, the taxpayers are on the stick for millions of dollars, funneled to the HOLLYWIERD elitests in the form of “Artistic grants”. Just the threat of the cutoff of said grants would be enough to force the producers to include QUEEN MOOCHELLE in their abysmal production.

Come on people, when you are broke and didn’t know which of your children you should feed the boy or the girl, whether to go to the doctor or to the corner diner for advise, whether to take the kids to school or to let them walk the 20 miles, whether to go to church for guidance or go to the shelter and listen to them on how to get rich,….. of course you would fly around polluting the planet and giving gas to others.

This being The Oscars, I’m reminded of a line from the Greatest Movie of All Time: “Casablanca”.
Claude Raines (sp?) as “Capt. Renault”: “I’m SHOCKED SHOCKED!” to find an Obama acting Imperially.and Imperiously.
I mean, gee, The Seas have Stopped Rising and The Planet is Healed by the Word of her Consort Pharaoh BO, God Among Men.
The Oscars are really sorta Slummin for her, even among the Cult of True Worshippers.

  Um lets see…. Obama has turned the presidency into the biggest reality tv show of all time (biggest, not best). Do you really think in 2016 he is going to want it cancelled! “Oh but he can’t do that! There are laws, the 2 term limit made after FDR”. Well, for the ones that would say that, normally you would be right and i would agree. However, this is Obama were talking about here. Think, when has he ever abided by our laws, much less stand up for anything constitutional.

  Yeah, the solipsism of Hollywood has reached quite an apex with Argo hasn’t it? They’re writing themselves into the role of Nobility, from what I can tell, not just with Argo but generally in how they act, react and push messages.
  
  I love movies, generally, but it’s become tedious to watch any awards ceremonies. They really are in this bizarre world that doesn’t have a lot of connection to real life, so it’s hard to even have a common framework of reference to understand their views these days. I can read who gets the awards that I care about in the news or on the internet.

Nobody is talking about how much the taxpayers spent to fly Michelle out to the Oscars. Bet she didn’t fly coach! Her security team must have had to do overtime getting everything ready for her. Maybe some of the President’s and Congress’s salary should be cut for the Sequester.
Nice dress Michelle was wearing. If she was a Republican, they would be criticizing her for how much it cost.

  Grandma T……I definitely am NOT defending her, it made me sick to see her presenting that award. However, she didn’t fly to Hollywood. She was taped from the White House and on the giant screen behind Jack Nicholson. Her dress did most likely cost a small fortune though.

  DARMOK, Superior analogy. F&F had a spot on about an hour and a half ago talking about how 0bama is treating the press these days. One of the short videos was of 0bama himself telling the press corps to leave the room so that he could get busy answering some questions.
