S.E. Cupp Pulls Out of CPAC Until Groups Representing Gay Republicans Are Embraced
TheBlaze TV’s S.E. Cupp on Tuesday announced she is pulling out of CPAC until the annual conservative gathering welcomes GOP groups that support gay marriage. Two prominent groups representing gay Republicans, GOProud and Log Cabin Republicans, will reportedly not be in attendance at CPAC.
“I go to CPAC every year. I love speaking there. It’s a great opportunity for conservatives, young and old from all over the world, to get together and sort of touch base,” Cupp said on MSNBC’s “The Cycle.”
CPAC has reportedly permitted groups advocating for gay marriage to attend, however, they are unable to sponsor the event. Cupp said that is a bit of a “cop-out” on the issue.
“We should be lucky to be having these guys do any work instead of turning them away. I don’t think we can afford that right now,” she said.”
“Ive been thinking about this a lot, and I know a lot of people on my side of the aisle have been struggling with this for some time now too,” she added. “I’ve been scheduled to speak at CPAC this year, and I don’t think I can until this issue is reconciled and figured out.”
Cupp said Republicans are divided on gay marriage, an issue that the party can “no longer seem to avoid.” She explained that several Republicans, including four former governors, have signed a legal brief arguing that gays have a constitutional right to marry. The brief will be submitted to the Supreme Court this week in support of a lawsuit to overturn California’s Prop 8, which limited marriage to the union of a man and a woman.
Cupp told TheBlaze that she has “enjoyed a wonderful relationship with CPAC for years” and even called the annual event “a highlight” of her year.
“But as a proponent of gay rights, CPAC’s decision to sideline GOProud and Log Cabin Republicans makes me increasingly uncomfortable,” she said. “These are conservatives who have had to work doubly hard to advance conservative messages and we should be rewarding them with positions of prominence.”
She continued: “Further in the interest of inclusion, it strikes me that now more than ever we should be celebrating our intellectual diversity, not suppressing it. It seems like we’re hardly in a position to be marginalizing any kinds of conservatives, let alone ones who have been so courageous in the face of adversity.”
Cupp said CPAC has every right to offer sponsorships and speaking opportunities to whomever it wants, “but until the conference stops shaming some of its most valuable advocates, it’s unfortunately not an event I can take part in.”

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:35pmThis is why the term ‘conservative” really doesn’t mean anything anymore. SE is an articulate poser of what is termed conservative values…but how can a purveyor of those “values” posit homosexuality as a “right.” The problem here is that a real conservative is a follower of “law and order.” In this Law flows from fixed principles that are derived from the Christian creator. Since SE does not believe in any God particularly the Christian God; her value system is founded on her own “rational” thought. Unfortunately “rational” is not rational. The decision making capacity is seated in the emotion center of the brain…logic is merely a rationalization. Thus, “rational” thought decisionmaking is irrational at its heart…it is based on feelings.
Only principles based on eternal truths derived from the Bible stand the test of time. SE apriory rejected this…thus she can blythely embrace the perversion of sodomy…as a natural right.
Simply…fundamentally pathetic

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:34pm“As soon as one says Homosexuality is wrong, they have brought their religious beliefs into the issue.”
Not true at all. I am not a religious person and I say homosexuality is wrong. How can you argue that it’s right?! Does a penis belong in an excrement filled, infectious, evacuation orphus? No, it was not created to go into a dirty place like that. Semen was not created to get lost in another body’s stinkhole. That’s a fact that has absolutely nothing to do with religious beliefs. Present me one undisputed fact that proves that one man’s penis is naturally meant to go in another mans rectum. If you can’t, then homosexuality is wrong. Period.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:33pmI don’t know if the Beck people are keeping track of the responses on this issue, but SE needs to go. This stand is against Glenns own religion. I know her views go against mine. And the fact the she’s a non-believer just doesn’t jive with her calling herself a conservative. If Glenn keeps her on staff, it will make me start to wonder about HIM.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:27pmS.E., if you are going to pull out of CPAC, why not go the whole Monte and pull out of The Blaze, too? I actually LIKE you, but I’m having increasing difficulty reconciling my values with yours. Why not stay engaged while you expose yourself to the mental challenge of finding the meaning of life? Juan Williams, bless his soul, has come a long way–his eyes have opened; and soon his mind will open too! You, S.E. are on the wrong side of history in your advocacy of homosexuality! I have no problem with your tolerance of same, but I have trouble accepting your advocacy of same! By the way, I’m not ‘judging’ gay or hetero. I simply believe in the value of marriage, family, hetero relationships. I don’t understand ****, but it stops at ‘not for me’. I don’t mind those that are–so long as their livestyle and life choices are not shoved down my throat!

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:18pmSacredhonor1776: “Jefferson’s non-belief in the divinity of Jesus disqualifies him according to many folks’ definition of Christianity. On the other hand, TJ seemed to consider himself a Christian, in the sense that he was a follower of Jesus. So let’s just say, this is complicated, and quite often folks get tripped up with this because they oversimplify.””
Actually, Jefferson’s non-belief in the divinity of Jesus falls in line with the Arian branch of Christianity, which had a fairly large following up until the Council of Nicea, where Arianism was decreed a heretical belief. Saint Nicholas himself (not so much a jolly old fellow in reality) beat the living tar out of an advocate of Arianism at the Council.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:18pmS.E. Cupp, PLEASE do not be a foil for this OR the Social Justice movement! Gays have the same rights as everyone else! But, no-oo-o, this minor, say 1% segment of our population want a whole slew of ‘special rights’! I don’t care if you are gay or anyone else for that matter–and, it’s none of your business as to my sexual preferences! Marriage is between a man and a woman! Homosexuality is a component of our sexuality, but NOT THE DOMINANT COMPONENT! It has a place in our population, but IT SHOULD NOT DEFINE OUR SOCIETY! You are sadly misguided to take the position you have. It is necessary to work from within if you want to influence change. It is wrong to subvert 2,000 years of recorded history, while supporting a KGB inspired disruption of our society! The gay movement has gained a position far in disproportion to its significance–and the result is NOT going to improve tolerance or understanding of the issue. You are NOT helping ‘the cause’ and ‘the cause’ has too much influence in the destruction of time-tested institutions, such as the church, marriage, family, the guidance of our children, influence of special programs, etc. I’m NOT against gay partners–do what you wish! I AM against ‘GAY MARRIAGE’–it’s an OXYMORON!

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:15pmThere is no more America. IT has been balkanized and the people have turned on each other, but worse, the government has turned on We the People.
Our politicians are corrupt, our media’s mission is now to manipulate not inform, our morals destroyed, our military morally decimated operating with arcane politically correct standards, our people turned into subjects fighting for scraps…
The only hope America ever had was a government that promoted the values of hard work, opportunity, and freedom for all — NOT entitlements for some and preference for others, while mocking productive habits and outcomes of those that achieve success.
Now the federal government revolts against We the People as it threatens the country with — PAY US MORE OR WE WILL NOT DO OUR JOBS! WE WILL RELEASE CRIMINALS, WE WILL MAKE THINGS FAIL AND WRECK THE COUNTRY IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO OUR DEMANDS!
Patriots, enjoy the war! All you who believe you would have stood up to tyranny in the 1700s now have an opportunity to do so!

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:12pmSince the early ’80s, I have watched the creeping, insidious propagandization of the American public to not just tolerate, but “embrace” a vile, unnatural, and disgusting lifestyle. S.E., you’re a beautiful, intelligent lady, but you’re the victim of 30+ years of cultural corruption inflicted on the US by Hollywood and the general media. NO to homosexual marriage, NO, to gays in the military, and NO to special legal privileges to homosexuals in the legal system. JUST. PLAIN. NO to the “love that dares not speak its name” which has changed to “the love that won’t just shut the HELL UP.”

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:12pmOK, SE, you have to do what you need to do. I can not support a party that has a platform that goes against my values. The Bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin like all other sins. We need a platform of Godly Family Values. It is a sin just to go along with or condone Gay Marriage. Marriage is between a man and a woman not a man and a man or a woman and a woman. SE, I know you are a Atheist, and I hope one day soon or in your future that you will come to know Jesus before it’s too late. You are missing out of God’s love. God loves all sinners whatever sin they commit. All can be forgiven, if you or anyone calls upon the name of the Lord.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 6:09pmI’m sticking with the Bible’s definitiion of marriage, between a man and a woman.
I recently changed my party affilitation because The GOP, the Dems, nor the libertarians represent my point of view. Libertarians are liberals, even with the small government lable attached.
I’ve accepted the fact that our country is going down the tubes and only an act of God will save it.

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 9:52amMy Bible has an index or concordance in the back with an alphabetical list of topics including marriage or married. It includes Bible verses relating to this topic. You do have to read the Bible verses to understand the institution of marriage.
When you are reading don’t over look the fact that God forgives sin, that includes all sexual sin, to those who ask.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 5:43pmS.E. is free to do whatever she wants. I would never support a group that endorsed gay marriage. So if CPAC flipped on the issue, I would not be interested in anything they had to say. I have gone on record last week saying I believe people should be allow to do whatever they want as long as it doesn’t hurt me. I however have the same right to refuse or accept their life choices as sane. The fact is Gays already get married is some churchs, not my church or I would leave that as well. For legal reasons and tax and material goods separation there needs to be some contract law that covers them.

I’m all for drawing clear lines so that we know where everyone stands. Now that I know, I can walk away with peace in my heart and soul. As a wise man once said “I didn’t leave them – they left me.” Setting my sights for a true conservative third party candidate in 2016. If he or she is not there – I will not vote. And I will NEVER again fall for that “if you don’t vote – you are electing the other guy” argument.
