Can You Spot the Mistake on This Goalie’s Star Wars-Themed Helmet?
Quick, take a look and see if you can spot the mistake on this helmet:
That’s the new mask of Philadelphia Flyers net-minder Ilya Bryzgalov sent out on the team’s Twitter account. Did you catch the flub? Take a closer look at Yoda’s light saber. It’s red. But red is the light saber color that’s given to those who dabble in the dark side of the force. And before you go saying that it’s possible Yoda just picked up the weapon of a fallen Sith, Yahoo has a Jedi mind trick for you:
Ah, you ponder, but what if Yoda simply stole that saber from a Sith he had sent into the Force ether?
Please recall that Yoda’s lightsaber was created to scale, fitting only his tiny space Muppet hands. Unless the Sith recruited some sinister Jawa as an apprentice, their sabres are not Yoda-sized.
Here’s an example of some of those fight scenes:
The artist is Fran Drummond, who once said, “I’ve realized I’m more into clarity and detail.”
Still, it happens. And in the spirit of not giving into the dark side: forgive him, Star Wars fans must.

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 9:39pmOK, I missed it but I am red-green colorblind. Seriously, I can’t see the difference. All I noticed was that I didn’t think Yoda’s opposable digit was so pronounced. I have a Yoda sitting by my desk with a sign that reads “DO or DO NOT….there is no try.” I’m 44 years old. I don’t see it as sad. I see it as enlightened.

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 5:23pmJust one? There’s actually two mistakes: Yoda is green, not gold. His saber is green, not red.

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 3:42pmAt the risk of being “outed” as the biggest nerd/geek of them all:
Those “kangaroo things” that Han Solo cut open with Luke’s saber? TaunTauns
AT-AT = all terrain armored transport (seen in Empire Strikes Back). The two-legged “chicken” version is called the AT-ST (all-terrain scout transport – kind of misleading names since the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi dropped one with some fallen logs a-la-cartoon marble style)
Yes, Yoda’s saber is green, however, color is not restricted to light-side/dark-side. Mara Jade (Skywalker’s wife) had a purple saber when she was Darth Vader’s personal Jedi Assassin (same color as Mace Windu. Kyle Katarn “inherited” a yellow saber from a Dark Jedi who sacrificed himself to save Kyle from being struck down by another Dark Jedi. And there were several Light Jedi in the battle scene in Episide 3 with red sabers.
So yoda’s saber color is only off because we know it was green from the movies. Yes. I am that nerdy.

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 2:48pmSo is that what Philly is using for their goaltenders? The Force. Doesn’t appear to be working.
I spotted the mistake right away. Does that make me a Star Wars geek?

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 2:34pmafter watching the clip, i feel like watching the movies again. somewhere in the internets there’s a suggested sequence for watchin star wars: IV, V, II, III, and then VI. I think I’ll watch them in that order with someone who’ve never seen the movies.

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 1:23pmWow, such important details. I mean a RED light saber – sheesh. Glad we’ve settled that!
Stay focused – we’re talking about fictional characters… stop sucking your thumbs and grow up.
Oh, I’m sorry, maybe I should have said: “Grow up. Your thumbs, stop sucking – fictional characters we speak of – focus we need.”

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 1:11pmWhile I agree that the helmet, what’s emblazoned upon it and any mistakes it might contain have little value in the overall situation on the planet, what irks me more is those who think that just because there are more serious matters to worry about, such frivolous things like this helmet shouldn’t be either reported or discussed.
Look, not everyone places the same value on things – that should be an axiom. So hard-core hockey fans and/or just as hard-core Star Wars fans might actually like this kind of stuff. So why not take a little time off from all the serious matters and enjoy some nonsense for a change?

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 12:20pmAll of you are not looking at the “biggest” flub ever for a Star Wars character, and it is right in front of your eyes! Yoda is GREEN not YELLOW! You guys even posted a clip from Episode II that shows Yoda is GREEN not YELLOW! You guys at the Blaze should be ashamed of yourselves, missing the most obvious thing. Dough!

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 12:01pma little trivia for those not in the know: Jedi have been known to use red Lightsabers. It’s uncommon but it happens. Also Yahoo is wrong. Yoda’s Lightsaber in Universe is called a Shoto which is known to be used by many Jedi from Yoda and Later Luke, to Asoka Tano

And it was obvious as soon as I looked at the photo that the saber was the problem.. I grew up a Star Wars dork, and seeing a red saber in Yoda’s hand stuck out like a sore thumb…
